R to L (Japanese Style). It's only the first day of Yura's acting career and things are already getting out of hand. Someone has ruined her costume and there isn't enough time to find a replacement. With the director ready to roll on a promotional photo shoot without her, Yura better think fast if she wants to keep her job from going down the tubes. Can she find a solution to her wardrobe malfunction in time to get in front of the camera?
Miki Aihara (相原実貴 AIHARA Miki) is a Japanese female manga artist noted for creating the manga series Hot Gimmick and the series Tokyo Boys & Girls. She debuted with the series Lip Conscious in the manga magazine Betsucomi.
Plain girl discovers that is she is the person she is going to be in the commercial-she will do fine. Gee, is that not method acting, and she learned in in just a few minutes. She is living with the manager she cannot trust, and crying out her eyes, over a boy, who only wants to marry her-because of her father. Gee, she still fauns over her cellphone-for any text from him--get real girl. Oh, plain jane had her short hair trimmed, and highlights, added, so now she is a raving beauty-really, really!! This is a popular series-why!?!?! Maybe because all the coll, cutely drawn guys in it.
Miki Aihara and I have a long and tumultuous relationship, but I still find her manga impulsively readable despite the fact that most of it is, frankly, trash. This second volume of Honey Hunt proves that this series is at least not as problematic as Hot Gimmick. Even so, the heroine is not really interesting; instead, she’s carried by the more intriguing (male) characters around her. I know that this series will never be finished, but I’m still going to trudge along with the rest of the volumes that were released.
This is cute, and I like her dynamic with all of the guys in this book, including her manager. But the plot goes like this:
She can do it!! She will be the best !!! > oh no someone mentioned her parents oh no > everyone hates me and I can't do anything wah > a boy cheers her up > YOU'RE RIGHT I CAN DO THIS > she does it
Every single chapter.
It's getting kinda boring. I still might check out the next one just cause, I mean, why not.
I think I'm drawn to this series because the MC has real potential to grow. She's going from passive, who let's things happen to her, to someone with goals. It's slow going, but I think that makes it fairly realistic and interesting.
2.5. Shawty is just trying to be an actress and build her confidence while juggling a love triangle with two hot brothers in different bands. It's very Wattpad-y and I enjoy that it seems to play into itself and knows the vibes and story beats that'll work for it. Although it often just comes off bland to read. I found the conflict of A lot of the conflicts are personal and I get that to a certain degree she needs to have difficulty overcoming them for the story to have stakes / be interesting. But damn does she just not take anything. I wish there was a little bit more backbone even if they do want her to slowly get more confident because right now it's just sad and irritating.
Technically a 3.5 out of 5. I'm really interested to see how Yura pushes herself to being an actress. I am enjoying the series so far and I am looking forward to volume 3.
I'm really starting to love these characters already! Volume 2 is excellent because we are really starting to dig in to who these characters are and what they care about. Yura really shines on the set of her first photo shoot and proves to everyone involved in the project, including the director and Haruka, that she truly does have talent. Seeing Haruka's reaction to Yura is really cute, too - he's so flustered, it's adorable. You can already tell that, wary as Haruka is of Yura right now, he is definitely going to fall in love with her. Yura relationship with Q-ta is developing quite differently, mostly because Q-ta is so different from his brother. Q-ta is completely open with Yura from the beginning - he has no reservations in his approach to her, so he is the first person she calls when she is in crisis, and he is there for her, no matter what. I love that Q-ta was on the phone with Yura, listening to her sob, just because she needed to know someone was listening, that she wasn't alone. And I love that Q-ta brought her to Haruka's house, because deep down, he knows his brother will take care of them, that he's a good guy, that he's on their side.
As for Yura's acting, Haruka plays a huge part in her self-realization that she is acting for more than just revenge: she really loves the process of becoming another person. Haruka's support and encouragement here is only a sign of more to come, as well. And when Yura has problems with Rinko at the read-through, Haruka steps in again to help protect Yura, to give her more time to figure out how to get over her nerves and do her job.
Yura onozuka-main character girl Keiichi mizorogi-manager of yura Q-ta: singer of popular music group who likes yura and her dad Haruka-member of pop idol KNIGHTS. Qta's twin bro and rival Yura's outfit for the shoot was ruined, and they don't have a replacement! Yura manages to come up with another outfit idea that matches the theme of her character- and right on time for the shoot with Haruka. The girl that sabotaged Yura's outfit was one of the two girls that also got the part in the movie(the short hair one). Rinko-an old lady who is a special quest and is suppose to be yura's fake mom on the show, but she hates yura's mom so she acts downright mean to Yura. Yura has low self esteem so that makes her think about what others think of her, which leads her to believe people picked her for the show only because she is daughter of two celebrities. But in the end Yura wants to get back on track, and her manager warns Q-ta privately that he can't be around Yura anymore unless their on set.

Having just finished volume one I've wasted no time jumping into the next book of the series. In this volume Yuri's agent takes center stage and the romantic triangle is starting to really develop.
Almost every single issue I had with the first volume were gone this time around. The pacing slows down to focus on a few smaller aspects, the characters get more individual focus and the panel design was more traditional. Overall everything was easier to follow and the flow was there. I had absolutely no difficulties with this one! Which I am incredibly happy about because this story is something that I really want to follow. Damn it, I actually want to know what happens! Go Yuri!
I love the contrast of the three guys and how they play off one another and how their relationship with Yura all seem self serving yet they all have their knight in shining armor moments.
I particularly liked the interaction between Haruka and Q-ta on the phone, revealed so much about their relationship. Also the disappointment Yura feels toward Keiichi and how he has to just sit back and wait, but the acting bug has bit Yura hard and she's back.
BOTTOM LINE: I enjoyed this arc with the mixed relationships.
Volume 2 finds Yura dealing with a set-back, her uniform has been purposely stained so she can't participate in the publicity shots for her new show. Also this volume sets up a love harem for the innocent Yura, as the darling Q-ta pursues her ardently, the defiant Haruka becomes obsessed with the mystery of her because of his brother's attention to her, and her manager who remains emotionally aloof but is perhaps too protective?
The proper continuation! The first one is lots of Action mixed with the Drama, but Aihara-sama ups the ante when her starlet is given major coverage and comes out smooth, smelling like a budding rose. This is a great series, and while it isn't what I would consider a young Josei series, it's really great. This volume gets you going, and you just can't wait to keep reading!
Only in manga, books, and movies can you find so many boys hovering around a shy, awkward main character. It's a fun fantasy and works well here because of Yura's sincerity. The art and story continue to be excellent in this volume. I look forward to reading more.
The story is getting better with this book. I'm a little confused about Q-ta, he is always there when Yura needs someone to talk to but his intentions towards her are not very clear yet.
