This stylish, unusual search-and-find picture book features fifteen animals and one farmer hidden in sixteen abstract designs. Following clues in the brief text, readers must search out the hidden creature in each spread, often disguised in clever and unexpected ways. The unique designs and concealed animals turn this book into a treasure hunt for clever young readers. Once parents and children begin the hunt, they won’t be able to resist finding all of the creatures.
A simple "can you find" type book using repetitive patterns to hide the creatures. Once the child spots the creature there isn't much more to maintain engagement.
What a fun book! Surprises and secrets fill throughout pages of this picture book. In Spot It! Find The Hidden Creatures, Delphine Chedru's debut as creator of picture book for children, young readers are asked to look carefully at a series of beautifully designed patterns and layouts to be able to find cute pictures of animals - plus a girl. There are always hidden creatures and surprises on every page, embedded in the design. It will inspire multiple reads and careful examination!
This is my favorite of the "Spot" books which are a huge hit @ the "berry." It took Erin awhile to find the hidden hamster. The sea urchin confused her a bit but it was still great fun! I like this one because of the old fashion feel of the papers and the rounded page corners so retro and sooo cool.
I really liked this in the vein of I Spy, but I liked that it was graphic illustrations and the last page made it more like a math activity than reading. Too bad it's too old for CCBA, besides being French. Thanks to Woodbury for shelfing it display face out.
AWESOME hidden picture book. Really lovely pictures with a graphic design feel. Some really were challenging for me to spot the first time, but once you know where they are, they're easy to find again, so it wasn't frustrating for my two-year-old.
Spot it! Find the Hidden Creatures. Anna Alter, Henry Holt, 2009. Clever, wallpaper-like illustrations with patterns hide miniature critters mentioned in sparse text. Adorable.
