Growing up near Los Angeles, I spent much of my time frolicking in the Pacific Ocean and penning angst-twisted poetry. Now I'm living in sunny Spain writing pathos-riddled fiction. Ironically, two of my favorite things are traveling, and swimming in the ocean, despite increasingly intense phobias of sharks and flying.

I've always loved the music and substance of words, always loved writing in well-worn notebooks by hand, tapping at the keys of the computer, and, of course, conjuring up stories.

And from my earliest memories, I've always been fascinated—maybe obsessed?—with sex and sexuality.

In my writing, sex is the medium, the expression, and the tool of discovery for my characters' insecurities, the needs that drive them, the comfort they can't live without, the joy and relish of life that makes each of them intense, strange, and alluring.

***ME QUEDO LOCA***

Lost tells us the story of a family in the middle of nowhere... Cat (my lovely little whore), Derrek & Victor have lost everything and have been living in an island for the last 3 years...

This book reminded me of a film I watched when I was very young called The Blue Lagoon. I know, those guys were not siblings but they were raised as siblings. I think I just discovered the reason why I love incest...

I am really surprised because after reading some spoilers (come on, GR buddies, you know how to hide spoilers, practice!) I thought I was not going to like it as much as I really did.

Cat is about 18 years old and she is one of this virgins we read about, HUNGRY for sex! I know! They are all the same... I loved the way Varian makes us see Cat as the one looking for sex and not the other way around as we probably would think about "rape".

"Want me to lick you clean?"

Derrek doesn't want to succumb to temptation at the beginning but it's getting more and more difficult to avoid Cat.

"We're lonely, here. All of us are. But it's no excuse to start acting crazy. You're my sister. I love you. It would be pretty fucked up if I..."

Yeah, it would be, but it would be hot as well so let's be happy! Being serious I must say the author makes a pretty good job because you never feel their relationship is sick (at least, I didn't feel that way). The way she tells us the story, you understand that they are alone, hopeless and there is nothing wrong in accepting their feelings...

Time goes by and Derrek starts to give in...

"You deserve to be touched. Kissed and held. You deserve to be loved"

"I forgot what it's like to be happy"

I would recommend this book to everyone with an open mind. You should know you are going to read about incest but due to the circumstances you might understand them and accept what they do.

**4" LOST FOR WORDS" STARS***

Nah, my big mouth always has something to say. So here goes...

Firstly, I've read a few reviews which state Lost reminds the reader of the 1980's film " The Blue Lagoon" ** cough-cough* Yeah Rosalinda I'm referring to you. I think she and I watched different movies. Yes there are a few similarities, ie. characters being stranded on an island.SEX, SEX and more SEX. Both stories feature a character with a bad case of blue balls cooled off in a lagoon.. but the similarities pretty much end there.... oh wait, both stories have INCEST. Fuck me ! maybe Rosalinda's on to something here......

Regardless,Lost is a whole lot smuttier and takes the incest storyline to another planet.. .. galaxy... UNIVERSE!.. I. LOVED. IT.

Now about the story. The** blah-blah* family, "shit what was their last name?".... is stranded on a secluded island after a typhoon sinks their ship. 18 yrs old (?) Cat, or as I like to call her "frisky feline", her 20 something brother Derek (territorial ape) and their widower father (I have no words for big Papa) have been on this island for, "3... 5... 8????" .... a number of years. One day while strolling the island Cat stumbles upon a cave, "Was it a cave or behind the bushes?"... and finds her brother Derek feverishly stroking one out ( lovely scene by the way). Cat knows she should look away but she's frisky remember? she struts her horny ass up to him instead and informs her brother that she'd like to watch what he's doing. Shit, she's more than willing to give him a hand.

THIS BITCH IS F-R-I-S-K-Y!! Anyway, Derek says no at first but he eventually ( like 5 minutes later) agrees to her request of not dying without seeing an actual penis in the flesh...Which then led Cat to admit that she also doesn't want to die a virgin. .. and you can guess where this goes... and goes... and goes... until their father walks in on them. Sweet baby jesus, this readers was screaming.

OH SHIT!..

... Ha! You have no idea.
If excessive incest isn't your thing this book is NOT FOR YOU. There is a small plot but I was so aroused stunned by what was unfolding before me , I can no longer remember ... In case you couldn't tell. :-)

Lost is a beautifully written story on the very taboo subject of incest. It's graphic and darkly erotic so if this is a hard limit for you, you may not want to read this book. I say "may not want to read" because this book is so very well written and beautifully done that I would encourage my friends to try it out.

Lost

Lost will push your comfort zone with full on incest between brother and sister and daughter and father in an environment and under circumstances that are believable. It will make you question yourself. When placed in a survival situation, what could we become. I am reminded of Lord of the Flies. What would we do when stripped to our baser animalistic desires and no longer restrained by societal expectations. When lost from society for too long, would we then lose ourselves, lose our way? I believe that is what happened to Victor, Cat and Derrick. They were not just physically lost. Once they lost their morality (truly lost their way) they no longer cared about being rescued. They were truly Lost!

Good ol' Goodreads just recommended this lovely incest read to me.

How can you read this and not think of The Blue Lagoon?

Krylov has mastered erotic writing. Her descriptions of the MCs' budding sexuality are vivid, bordering on uncomfortably graphic, yet gorgeously sensual. Her lush writing is a perfect match for this curiously precious story about the blossoming sexuality of a brother and sister on a abandoned island, that is as much a paradise as a trap.

Being stripped from the morals of the civilized world, swimming naked and baking on your private beach does little to change the fact that both Cat and her older brother are beautiful young adults caught in amber; their dreams are smothered. Or are they?

As with all Krylov's, there are various ways to perceive this story. And it's up to you which layers you feel like peeling off. I especially appreciated the psychological aspect of the family bonds. There's a sense of impending doom present, that I quite enjoyed. Another will possibly choose to not register that and think of this as an erotic love story only. How awesome is that about this author?

The only aspect that didn't do much for me, was the incest. There's so little background or 'happy family' memories that I hardly perceived these three as family. I dunno, there was little to disturb me and I would have appreciated to be a little more shocked.;)

Buddy read with Rosalinda, Laci and Sarah

I liked the way the author Varian Krylov wrote about taboo subjects in a non sleazy way

This excerpt was at the end of the book and I thought it summarised her writing in the correct way

Her stories tend to explore the sometimes fine line between what arouses, and what frightens, what we’re driven to, and what we’re ashamed of.

This is a quick fast paced book with a controversial topic- it won't be for everybody and if you aren't into this sort of thing then I ask that judgement isn't given to those who are!

With FICTIONAL BOOKS like this there is none of this

You can't help what you are into or what you like/don't like reading

I was surprised that I liked it so much. I would definitely recommend it to somebody who wants to start out with this controversial topic

Lost is a story about a father, daughter and son who get stranded on a remote island after a typhoon destroys their boat whilst out on a scientific excursion. This darkly erotic short story goes on to tell of their evolving relationship with each other, a relationship that after three long years stranded, with no hope of rescue, goes way beyond a sisterly/brotherly/fatherly one and they soon find themselves lost in more ways than one.

So I read this one as part of a buddy read.......

At first I was like.......image

Then...........image

Then I was like............image

...I could not put this book down.

But then I was like......... image

And then right at the end I was like...........image

But on a serious note, I must start by saying how beautifully written this book was, especially given the taboo subject it covered, a book subject I have never before ventured into. Don't ask me how, but, Varian Krylov writes the first part of this story in a way that makes the subject seem a little less abhorrent, and if you take away the taboo subject, i have to say I found the sex scenes highly erotic.

For the most part I thought the author did an excellent job of helping me as a reader to put to one side the sibling link and see this as two people becoming involved in a highly erotic relationship and therefore this part of the story I enjoyed, in fact as I said before this author can definitely write a great sex scene.

The later part involving the father, however, I really really struggled with This part was way out of my comfort zone and not something I enjoyed at all nor could I get my head around.

I think if you're open to reading dark erotic stories that push yours limits as well as involve some highly erotic sex scenes then this is the book for you. My rating is for the authors beautiful writing style and the first part of the book. The second part just wasn't for me and in fairness I knew what i was getting into when I read the blurb. I'm glad I read it as I like to have my limits pushed, id also read other books with this subject matter again, I just think the whole father/daughter thing just isn't something I enjoyed reading about.

Thanks to my fellow buddy readers; Rosalinda, Rach and Laci......love ya hotties <3

Beautiful and pure.

Lost is a phenomenally well done short story that tackles a taboo topic with such complexity socially and psychologically that it is natural and believable. Many times you read a pseudo-incest book and it is vacuous and titillating for it's own sake, but Krylov has taken the true taboo and presented it magnificently well.

As one who generally avoids short stories because so few authors successfully master it, I was surprised by my own response. This book will appeal to a limited audience, but for those willing to explore it--I think they will be pleased.

What a fantastic set up to a terrifically taboo story. LOST may push the limits of some readers too far as the story is one of an incestuous romance between a brother and sister as well as a father and daughter.

LOST begins with a family of three scientists who are stranded on a deserted island when their boat is destroyed by a typhoon while on a scientific excursion. Fast forward three years and you have the only female, Cat (18), her brother, Derek who is 28 and their father, Victor. Cat is very curious about the opposite sex and is certain that she will die a virgin unless she can convince her brother to teach her all the things she has missed out on discovering with other boys. After much persistence, she slowly breaks down the social boundaries that confines Derek by coaxing him to sample what she so willingly offers.

The incestuous relationship Cat and Derek engaged in made my mind flash to THE BLUE LAGOON, then, the social breakdown of the relationship between the father and son forced my mind to LORD OF THE FLIES. It was amazing how quickly things changed between the trio once the sex began… the men reverted to animalistic behavior and Cat became the primary object of focus and comfort.

Though I really enjoyed the premise of the story, I wanted more – hence the 4/5 stars rating. I would have liked to have seen more about the relationship between the father and son and how they interacted as time passed. I would have liked to have seen more about how the group and individual relationships developed. In my opinion, the relationship between Cat and her father was not nearly as believable as the relationship she initiated with her brother – it really needed more development leading up to the initial sexual act.

If you like taboo reads and you enjoy an interesting plot with a lot of steam, then check out LOST – it is sure to hit the spot!

Well written short story with plenty of dark, erotic sex--was really hard to see these three characters as father, son and daughter--
this quote sums up the story:

"We're rational beings. And we're animals with drives"

That says it all--

So this is me directly after finishing this book only the laptop is my Kindle.

This book took the incest I've read of in taboo books to a whole new fucking level, I feel sort of violated from just reading the damn thing. I really don't understand how so many people rated this so high, I'm sort of worried for their mental state for thinking this is good.

I guess people weren't joking about this book pushing people out of their comfort zone, I am so far past the line I can't see it any more! I mean, shagging your brother is nasty and disturbing enough but adding your dad into the mix and creating the creepiest threesome ever is just... I can't even word how completely wrong that is.

This book has honestly just mind fucked me!!!

My thought process during the book in gif form:

Cat watching her brother wank then proceeding to taste his spunk:

Cat practically forcing her brother into having sex with her:

Well, it's a lot shorter than I anticipated. This is not a big story-driven read. A father, a son and daughter are stranded on a deserted island. How many years would it take for you to put the. Taboo out of your head and just let your urges take over?

Well, take over they did and once the sex started, it just kept coming. Yes, pun intended. So, sex with brother and sister, sex with dad, sex with both, and a partridge in a pear tree,

I'm usually in awe of Varian Krylov's ability to take socially unacceptable subjects and really create thought-provoking books. "Lost" is a great example of her skill in story telling.

My reading experience in this taboo subject is usually limited to step-father/brother step-daughter/sister incest. This story doesn't provide even that small illusion of social acceptability; it's full on incest. If this is a hard limit for you, DO NOT read this novella. However, if you are comfortable with extremely taboo subjects and want to read an intellectual and provocative tale of incest between father/daughter and brother/sister then I would recommend this book.

"Lost" is the story of a scientist shipwrecked on a deserted island with his son and daughter when their boat sank during an expedition to study the declining wildlife population on an uninhabited island in the Indian Ocean.

Victor, the father, has spent the last three years marooned on the island continuing his scientific research. His son, Derrek, assists him in the documentation of their findings in hopes of publishing them for academia when the family is eventually rescued. Cat, his now 18 year old daughter, cooks and cares for the signal fires they hope will alert a passing ship or airplane to their location.

I flashback to William Golding's "Lord of the Flies" as this family/social unit devolves becoming more primitive and animal-like in their interactions with one another. As their relationship becomes less familial and more sexual, the author makes frequent comparisons between the humans with intellect and reason and the beasts their baser, more physical instincts are successfully replacing. Cat [short for Catalyst??] percipitates the sexual relationship between herself and her brother and father which subsequently changes the dynamic between her brother and their father especially regarding who will become the Alpha in their "nest".

The sexual interactions are gripping and evocative; pushing comfort levels while making the scenes both arousing and difficult to pass over. There's no climatic build to a conclusion, but the author has created the perfect ending to this very edgy story.

O.K. I just don't know where to start with this. It's been a couple days since I finish this and I have to say that my inital opinion has changed. I felt weird getting tingley for the sex in this book, but I thought the author did a great job introducing the Brother/Sister relationship. I could see and understand a sexual relationship develop under those circumstances. At a certain point the book lost me. I first thought it was the Father/Daughter thing, but after thinking about it, I think I was let down by the story. You got to see the relationship with the siblings but I felt cheated on the father story. It seemed rushed, like it was thrown in for shock value. One minute he's worried about the son raping her, then he sees them having sex so now it's ok for him to fuck her. How did he get from point A to point B. So I have decided that I was o.k with the incest part I just felt let down by the last 1/4 of the book. I would read another incest book, but I don't think I'll go seeking them out.

I ran an imgur search for disturbing and this is what I found. Thank you, internet.

4 STARS

I'm not going to write a review longer than the actual novella itself but suffice to say, as a first-time reader of this author, this was a very good amuse bouche to get the feel of Varian Krylov's writing (hah! yeah, I'm gonna talk about "the writing" on this one). The story revolves around Cat, Derrek and their father, Victor, stranded in an island for three years after their boat capsizes. The vanilla reader would probably wonder if they brought enough board games to pass the time.

The really screwed up section of the brain will try not to go to THAT place where there's a bom-chika-wow-wow soundtrack but will anyway once you figure it's safe enough to imagine it. All this while Krylov's writing serves as a more than adequate guide to one's deepest, most taboo what-ifs.

Once, they yielded and looked at each other through a few inches of air and rain. His dark eyes saw her, now, not Rome and fires. He saw her, and took her kiss.

It all screams A Geeks Porn Fantasy Come True (Derrek and Victor are scientists, for crying out loud) but I like how it didn't pretend to be anything else but that and didn't held back. The emotional ruminations and internal conflicts are kept to the barest minimum which left the story with a primal, raw quality to it.

The sex scenes were non-formulaic and vividly written which really upped the ick factor of the story. But it also makes you darkly curious, what ever else is stored in Ms. Krylov's arsenal of squick? (please tell me there's more).

Wow!
Fuck!
Shit! WTF did I just read???!!!
I mean there's erotic and then there's THIS book!!!

That was by far the dirtiest, filthiest, naughtiest, sexiest most erotic taboo I've ever read - well, eh, probably!! In fairness, it may be a tie with Selena Kitts Naughty Bits...just saying!

It was like pure smut meets a well thought through reflection of why this could happen (given their situation) on a base human level.

See, even back in 2008, which was all but prehistoric (or at least preELJames!!) in erotic terms, this author had it ALL going on!!!
I'm soooo going to read more of her smut!

I'm pretty sure Soraya's review will be more interesting than mine considering I still feel like puking a little from the dad scene..do check out both Rosalinda's and Soraya's review if you want to find out more about this book though...I've gotta admit I did enjoy some of the scenes...:)

I really like this author, she pushes boundaries in an intelligent way. Her writing is unique and complex. Its never just about the sex, as hot as it is, its about human instincts and needs. Yes, this book is taboo but its written very well, you can understand and justify their actions. I wasn't bothered in the least by the nature of the book, after all it is only fiction. I'm not ashamed to say I liked this book, just wish is was longer...it ended abruptly.

Lost is a story about a father, a son, and a daughter stranded on a deserted island. Cat, the daughter becomes curious about sex and wants her brother, Derek, to teach her. Derek tries to resist her- although he desires her. As time passes they give in. Then there's the father, Victor. His actions at the end...I just didn't undertand them or should say condone them. Cat's curiosity caused them all in the end to truly lose themselves and felt like they longer cared to be rescued. Had they lost their way by giving in to their baser desires or had they simply adapted and accepted their fate?

Lost is a highly charged sexual short story. It's a story of incest that will push your boundaries. I just wished it had been longer. I kind of felt like it just ended. I would recommend it to those who enjoy taboo stories. This story is not for everyone but if you have an open mind- then this one is for you. 4 stars because of the abrupt end.

I don't really know how to rate this one. It was way out of my comfort zone. I expected it to be more prurient but it was written fairly tastefully. It was explicit though so you need to know that going in. The ending kind of slipped off into a surreal mist though.

This was more than a sex story. There was a message though that I would be interested in talking about if anyone has read this and wants to comment. I put my idea in a spoiler quote since I think it kind of gives away the whole point of the story.

To be honest with you... I don't even know what-the-heck I just read.

Like, okay. I will warn you: the blurb doesn't depict the storyline very well. It should've went...

"When a typhoon destroys a family of three's boat, they're stranded stranded on an unpopulated island off the coast of Madagascar with nothing more than their scientific research and each other for company.

And as the weeks and months and years pass, it's harder and harder for Derrek to resist is younger sister, Cat's, seductive advances. Cat—who is sensual, spontaneous, and hungry to experience every thrill, every sensation.

When Derrek and Cat finally succumb to each others deepest, most taboo desires, what happens when Daddy dearest catches them in the act?"

So WARNING TO ALL: this is an romance.

Being as it's fiction, I could totally understand the but mostly because they're on a deserted island, isolated—probably-forever—from other human beings. As Cat said in the book:

"People are flesh-and-chemical magnets, powerless to resist coming together."

So I forgave and even went along with the brother/sister romance... until I reached 49% of the book, and then I was like WHAT IN THE EFFFING HECK AM I READING?!?!?!?!

Derrek's character went from blushing, innocent to mean and aggressive. That part wasn't hot. It was wrong. The kind of wrong. And if it weren't for the I would've enjoyed this story so much more than I did.

I already had issues (naturally) with the storyline, that I didn't need the brother to start his sister. Like, noooooooo. It was totally unnecessary. And I really did try (and maybe-sorta-kinda-not-really) managed to enjoy the rest of the book... even after reading that dreaded, awful scene at 49%. Because I did enjoy the realllllllllllllly sexy, piping-hot sex scenes, and even some of the lovey-dovey emotions between Cat and Derrek that tumbled around them like the island lapping at the shore.

“I love you, Cat.” He loved telling her as they kissed, as they fucked. The sound of her name and “love” in his mouth, voicing his heart.'

Varian Krylov's writing was actually pretty beautiful; lush and steamy, sensual and sweet—except Derrek's em'in-effing bipolar moment at 49%. (Sorry if I keep mentioning that, but seriously, it's like I'm still in shock. Didn't expect that part, and didn't found it horribly disturbing.)

All in all Lost was a very, very quick and steamy read; it took me under an hour to finish reading it. So because of that, I have to say that the book is wayyyyyyy overpriced on Amazon. ($3.99 for not even an hour of book? Unfair!)

And in the end, even a day later, I still don't know what-the-heck I think about this book. Therefore, I'm not rating it—because I still don't know where I stand with it. I think I'm more disappointed than anything. I wish it were a bit different... because I think it had the potential to be an amazing read—but a few quirks coupled with Derrek's sweet-and-salty behavior kinda left me confused.

I can't rate this book because in some ways I found the story to fast-past . I know its 60 pages only but even for a short story the book didn't have much dialogue or scenes to go on. I found it bizarre how quickly they all just started a physical relationship.

I know in regards to their situation it was understandable but the book itself is pretty vague. We don't get much of a back story just that they are on the island then bam. They find out their stuck that's it. In away its good because we don't see how the siblings or father and daughter relationship were in their life before.

But I will say Krylov does make you think if your removed from socialization will you let go of your moral's and beliefs. The main objective in this kind of situation is survival. They do say humans are weird we are not made to be monogamous but yet have created "society boundaries" . Which we either follow or feel suffocated in. In the scale of instincts, survival, needs vs Society morals and beliefs .

Which scale will be more heavier?.

Do we go back to the era where humanity started ?. Are we more like animals than we think we aren't?.

Wonderful erotic dark story. Father, son, & daughter stranded on a deserted island for years and years. The story explores what happens with want, need, desire and salvation in isolation. Yes there is incest. So avoid if this is a trigger. Father and son, scientists doing research with the daughter along as assistant.

It was a hot story with great sex scenes, but sometimes the writer got a bit too poetic for me, such as:
The wet earth mouthed their legs, trying to swallow them. Their wet skin, their hot bodies, rain warm like blood dissolving the ground beneath them so they would sink.
"Just hold onto me, Daddy. Don't let go. Don't let go."
Below them the earth was soft, between them he was hard, hard sorrow, hard loss, hard need and the sky bled on them, they were slick with it, kneeling in it, the earth's blood, shed by the sky.

But overall I loved this dirty taboo story.

While the story deals with incest, for me it explained much more than that. It was about a family who were lost to civilization and tried to comfort themselves in the only way left available. I view their relationship as primitive, yet i could tell they really LOVE each other because it was not just about physical satisfaction.

3.5 stars... Ummmm I'm not sure what to say here...I love Krylov's writing but this book (unlike Abduction and After) brought me a bit out of my comfort zone. In the beginning, not having seen them as siblings before this point, it's hard to remember they are actually siblings. As the book goes on its does get darker and more taboo.
