The short answer to why you should support Israel is that by blessing Israel, you will be blessed:
"Now the LORD had said to Abram: 'Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'" (Genesis 12:1-3).
As a Bible-believing Christian. you should support Israel simply because your God ordains it.
I got this book as a free download years ago, forgot that I had it in my computer and then found it again about a week ago. It's the first book I've read about Israel, not counting the Bible, and it was captivating. I admit, I am somewhat biased since I love Israel, but then again isn't that what this book is really all about? How we as Christians should love and support Israel which is God's promised land. I still remember when I started to feel this love for Israel that I couldn't quite explain at first. I'd never been there and I didn't really know that much about it, to be honest. But it was like the Holy Spirit put this love in my heart for Israel. A love that is supported by the Bible and has its roots in God's love for this country. So of course Christians should support Israel! There's no question about it!
As we have seen, both the Old and New Testaments make abundantly clear that Christians must support Israel in every possible way. This does not mean that the Israeli people and their government are perfect. Far from it: They are fallen human beings like everyone else on earth, in desperate need of salvation.
I love how the author uses many bible verses to support his claims and lifts up prophecies about Israel that we can find in the Bible. He takes you through his different points in why it is of vital importance that we support Israel at the same time as he backs it all up with the Word of God. It's powerful, clear and easy to follow. It's a book that you can read no matter if you don't know all that much about Israel and their history or if you've loved and been involved in supporting and praying for this country for years.
Having a previous interest in the end times, I especially enjoyed reading chapter 3 about how we by supporting Israel also are preparing for the second coming of Jesus. And, as a whole, this book spoke to me and I felt privileged to having read about what this expert on the subject has to say.

I came across Mike Evans as part of a sincere desire to understand what is going on in israel/Palestine - I began with a deep feeling of unease that something is terribly wrong there, but also a realisation that before I could comment on it I should make the effort to find out, to get histories, context and viewpoint from all sides, to read the history of the region and to get an idea of the drives and the politics and the motivations of the contending parties. Part of this was a realization of how far something called Christian Zionism is coming to dominate policies and attitudes in the United States and how this particular interpretation of Christianity is spreading outside the USA (so much at odds with the Christianity I grew up into that it reads like a twisted and warped version seen in a carnival mirror). I've read the book - got a pocket paperback edition from the Evans organisation. As I got it for free I'm trying not to be ungracious and I have tried, really tried, to find anything of worth in it - there's no denying the passionate convictions of the author - but this is dangerous nonsense from practically every perspective: twisted, warped and distorted.
Emotion takes the place of reasoned argument, which is always a dangerous thing. The Biblical scholarship is shallow and skewed; the author selectively cherry-picks arguments from the Bible to support his case, blatantly so. the arguments are occassionally superficially convincing but simply do not stand up to close examination and rational scrutiny. The Bible is a set of religious writings created over several thousand years by a variety of authors for a variety of reasons. Israel is a country founded in 1948 as a political entity. Dr Evans is attempting to map contemporary politics onto a religious text written several thousand years ago and the match is pretty much non-existent. There's a technical word for this in theology - "Eisegesis". "Exegesis" is to draw out of a religious text the meaning which is there; "eisegesis" is the opposite, reading into it that which has never been there. it's a sort of religious wisfful thinking and fantasising, and Dr Evans has written 152 pages of it.
if this were a theology thesis, let's hope it's not the one Dr Evans submitted for his doctorate - it wouldn't even have been accepted as first-year undergraduate work!
My copy has a marginal note on practically every page pointing out some egregious inaccuracy or problem with the reasoning. Dr Evans is not only sloppy with the Bible and his use of it to support contentious viewpoints, he also manages to be incredibly inaccurate in lots of his general research. Just opened my copy at random to page 50: "overnight, Egypt became a land of poverty and disease and remains that way 4,000 years later" - apparently for refusing to let Moses' people go. Errr... if we accept for the sake of the argument the Exodus really did happen as described in the Bible and we can tentatively ascribe a date to it (variably, 2000Bc - 1400BC) and start here. Egypt was still a regional power in the time of the Roman Empire two millenia later, and was still powerful enough in the 1300's to send an army to defeat the previously unbeaten Mongols - - decline, yes, when seen from the 20th/21st century. But4,000 years is a funny definition of "overnight". (Dr Evan's grasp of general history is also VERY questionable).
The Christian exegesis is sloppy, the history is questionable (the above is one of many, many, errors asserted as fact) , and the politics are breath-takingly right-wing - Christianity, of a sort, harnessed to right-wing American political interests. Interesting the cover shows the American flag next to the Israeli... I'm British, I get that this book wasn't aimed at me!
This is wrong. Dr Evans is making an extraordinary claim and rewriting theology which has been the heart of consensus Christianity - everywhere - for as long as there has been Christianity. Whether you are Protestant, Catholic or Orthodox, one tenet of Christianity that all Churches agree on is this: that the mission of Jesus Christ supplanted the former covenant. This is why there is a distintion between the Old Testament and the New Testament - the old covenant that made the Jewish people into the chosen people ended with Jesus. the New Testament teaches that the chosen people of God are those who choose to follow Jesus, regardless of birth, ethnicity or origin.
This does NOT mean we should love the Jewish people, or indeed the Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu, people any less - but Jesus covers that in the Golden Rule, the Great Commandment:
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Doesn't need Christian Zionism or a volume of dodgy eisegesis to make a special case - Jews are already covered, as indeed is everybody else. By implication. Jesus said so. Love everybody. Love thy neighbour.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. In trying to overturn 2000 years of Christian consensus - Dr Evans has failed. But on page 57 he calls the belief held as truth by all schools of thought in Christianty - except his - " a doctrine in vogue spawned by Hell". Sorry, Mike, you're the odd one out and you just haven't proven your case. And calling every Christian out of step and heretical - apart from you - that shows true humility!
The depressing conclusion is that if this sort of Christian is in the ascendent in the USA and influencing policy at the highest levels... the world is in for interesting times.
I'll add that Doctor Evans himself is worth reading about; his life and career , especially his changes of outlook and direction, are interesting, and that's all I'm going to say here. But if you are looking to understand the Christian Zionist mindset - this book makes an interesting start if you read with discernment and a critical eye. As Christianity, it lacks. As a reasoned argument - well, it isn't one.

This is a brilliant anointed must read tool for all Crucified Christians you must read and Mike Evans is an excellent teacher and author. I highly rate this tool as well recommend you provide this as a gift to those you are led to receive it.
