Rowena Akinyemi
43 books32 followersRowena Akinyemi is British, and after many years in Africa, she now lives and works in Cambridge. She was worked in English Language Teaching for twenty years, in Africa and England, and has been writing ELT fiction for ten years. Love or money? Was her first story for the Oxford Bookworms Library, and she has now written several other stories for the series, including Remeber Miranda and The Witches of Pendle (both at Stage 1). She has also written books for children. One of her favourite pastimes is reading detective stories.

This is a normal story to learn ,not for fun .

It is a short story .

First of all , I've read it for school but I really liked it.
The storyline is pretty fast paced , which isn't always bad , but it's kinda boring sometimes.
I really liked the characters and the writing style , I also loved the worldbuilding with the beach house and the vibes with the windy weather.
All in all was it a great book and the plottwists also catched me.
I still don't really recommend it , but it's good for people who want to get into english books.

Ha estado bien, obviamente dentro de lo que es este tipo de historietas, hechas con un inglés sencillo para hablantes extranjeros. El plot-twist final ha estado acorde, quiero decir, me ha sorprendido pero tampoco me ha volado la cabeza. En fin, 3.25 estrellas merecidas y acordes con el tipo de lectura que "Remember Miranda" es.
Ha estado bien, obviamente dentro de lo que es este tipo de historietas, hechas con un inglés sencillo para hablantes extranjeros. It is about the secret of Beach House. Cathy wanted to find out why Miranda died and she found out that was not an accident. At the end, Mr. Duncan and Cathy fell in love with each other, and stay together with the children happy ever since at Beach House.

He=Nick loves Juliet and Juliet loves Nick. Cathy loved him but they are not interested in her. This sentences describe their love very well.
5.Cathy get a new job, taking care children and old woman in the house near the beach. The house was called Beach House. While going to Beach House, a tree across the road because of strong wind. Then, she stacked and a man came with car and take her to Beach House. His name was Nick. They went to Beach House and a man opened the door. His name was Duncan. He looks like angry. He and Nick hate each other. Cathy couldn't understand why. The family in Beach House has Duncan, his mother, his two children and sometimes Duncan's wife's sister, Juliet. His wife died 2 years ago. Cathy get along with Juliet very much. They talked a lot. Sometimes, Cathy met Nick. She liked him because he was kind and interesting. One day, Duncan's mother said to Cathy that Cathy must not meet Nick. She couldn't understand why this family hated him. But she loved him. So she was very sad. After that, when she drove car, very fast car came from front. She tried to avoid and her car out of the road. Then, Nick came out from the car. And Juliet did, too. They loved each other. Cathy told Juliet about she loved Nick, but Juliet didn't tell she loved him, too. Cathy get really angry and she stopped to love Nick. After that, she knew why Duncan's wife died from news paper. She died because she fell down the stairs. And Duncan was questioned by police. Then, she thought Duncan killed his wife. Few days later, she met Nick to talk about this accident. Then, Duncan appeared. Nick and Duncan started arguing. Then, Duncan said his wife loved Nick, so she wanted to leave Duncan. So Duncan and his family hated Nick. Then she thought Duncan killed his wife absolutely. But it was wrong. After that, in the Beach House, Duncan's mother said she killed her. She didn't want to lose her son's wife, so she pushed her to broke her leg and stay in this house, but she died. Duncan said he tell about her mother to police. And then, he said to Cathy, I love you. His children liked her and He needed her. Then, she accepted it. Then, she was falling him, too.
It was complicated story, but I thought Cathy's mind was changed so easily! At first, she loved Nick, but later, she changed her mind to love Duncan. I cannot understand why she falling Duncan. If all women change their mind easily like Cathy, I am really really afraid!

She was so beautiful. But she dead only 26 years old. Cathy didn't know how to she dead. Nobody try to speak about her. The family had a secret.
b)The end of this story is so suprisingly.It happened bad things all the time to this family. But at the last ,the family members know the truth of the reason of miranda's death. The truth was cruel. Miranda's mother killed by pulling her from the upstairs. She didn't want to kill miranda. She just break miranda's legs. Because she couldn't walk well without stick. So she envied miranda.
5.This is a mistery story. I liked happy story or funny story but I tried mistery. It was not so bad. The good point of mistery story is making me think about the end. when I read this, I couldn't understand all. So I read one more. I couldn't anticipate the end of the story. So I tryed to read early.

actually, the grandmother pushed Miranda from the top of downstairs but it was an accident. I was surprised so much to read this part because I could not image so that.

5. This story is kind of difficult to understand if I don't understand who is who. However, I've been reading many books through this year, so I was able to recognize who is Miranda and who killed her and reason why she was dead. I gave four stars for this book, it was fun to read, but I could guess who killed Miranda easily, so if this is more complicated, it would be more interesting!

Reading this book again and now I understand why I wasn't very much impressed by it. It has such great premise, and the middle with tension and mystery building up. However, the end is not really satisfying, kinda cheesy. The part when Mrs. Harvey confessed killing Miranda, and Cathy's reaction to that is somehow ridiculous to me. Maybe because this type of retelling story also shortens it, which doesn't allow much space for many words to appropriately describe everything. Such a pity for a good plot like this!

This story was not funny, I thought this story would be good ending, but it didn’t. The secret was heavy. I think this book is a romance, so it should be more interesting
