Hogmanay. A 20-something breaks up with his girlfriend at a party in Glasgow and sets out on the 20-mile walk home to East Kilbride. On the way, he amuses himself by composing imaginary letters to his estranged family in between buying drugs, crashing parties, being stabbed and losing his lenses.

4 stars for inventive style. Quite harrowing and, rather like Jesus Son (which was a total 5+ star and everyone should read- for glorious style as well as storyline) shows us (well me, don't know your background ) an underbelly of life in Glasgow with blurred reality/ unreality ( not fantasy ) Not over keen on the ending and although quite a lot of it was uncomfortable to read it was well worth it.
I can remember this was one of the first books i ever read. I got it from the library. I was really young. I got it because the guy on the front cover looked like the singer from The Rasmus =P (Huge fan) I was really confused when reading it. I read it again when I was about 18 and I loved it. Such a weird and different book. And the cover is awesome ;)
