Life sure did get interesting for Sadie Alden once she moved to Hallow Haven. She now lives in a world of magic, ghosts and endless possibilities, what more could a girl want?
When the local radio contest announces a Battle of the Bands competition, the islands are a buzz with activity. With her friend, Kate, as the organizer of the event, Sadie is soon dragged along as a judge. It’s all anyone is talking about, and soon she realizes that people are willing to do anything to win, even kill.
With her duties as the resident peacekeeper, Sadie is requested to travel to one of the outer islands to investigate a disappearance. Who’s missing? Oh, just everybody. At least the main house there isn’t filled with ominous letters… just kidding.
As if things couldn’t get more complicated, Sadie seems to be stuck in a love triangle, her shapeshifting cat familiar keeps talking about the werewolf on the island and a book of dark magic has found its way into the wrong hands.
Can Sadie restore order to Hallow Haven before anyone else gets hurt?

I have read quite a few of this authors books and really enjoy them. The characters are great the stories are great and full of suspense. This book was just as good as the others I have read by her. Looking forward to more by her!

Book two in the series doesn't disappoint, lots more magic some of it black lots of humour snark and did I mention a couple of murders there's even romance times two, And believe me when I say you have never seen a battle of the bands like this one, unmissable mayhem enjoy.Baz
As the "Peacekeeper" people on the magic Island of Hallow Haven and the archipelago's surrounding it defer to Sadie to solve local crimes keep the peace and uphold treaties between the different families. Sadie moved to the Island as a human looking for a new chapter in her life. Only to find out she has returned to the place of her birth mother brought here by the powers at be after the murder of her cousin Greta, the previous Peacekeeper. Though she is still around to help and guide just in ghostly form. She also has Katie and Effie, her friends and unofficial magic teachers then there is Miller the local police officer and newly minted werewolf and Ryder the owner of the adventure shop both now fated to be Sadie's guardian to keep her safe as she goes about her duties. Kate has decided to revive the local radio "Battle of the Bands" competition where locals are invited to enter their own music in to a competition much to her sister Effies disgust, as there is not a lot to do on the Island and everyone thinks they are the next big thing. Miller calls on Sadie as an emergency her Uncle and his family have all gone missing from their island, and they have been called out, when they finally arrive after a few bumps along the way, there is just the housekeeper and some disturbing letters suggesting something bad has happened to the family Sadie has not got to know. Before they can begin to investigate they are called back to the island the owner of the guitar store has been killed. Does it have anything to do with the Battle of the Bands? Then when his body goes missing it becomes a whole other mystery. How far will someone go to be famous?
I was sorely disappointed with this book, I thoroughly enjoyed the first one and thought it had great promise, however this time, not so much. There were so many things that did not make sense to me. I am not going to give away spoilers that will not be fair to people who may enjoy the book but I thought the characters were poorly written, Kate and Effie . They have their moments but what I think is supposed to be teasing comes over as bullying. They are bullish and can sound mean. Fitz, the dentist/cat familiar who has not been much of anything but a paragraph here and there, I imagine he is supposed to be the comic relief but it comes out flat and silly. The housekeeper is a whole story unto herself, if we were to make her a butler and make the comments she makes towards Miller made towards Sadie I think people would find it gross, I do not find her to be cute or funny, The very start of the story is unfinished, but not in a read on to the next book kind of way, rather one of the characters suddenly appears and there is no explanation for where he was or why he came back. It is very strange.
And why the heck does the Peacekeeper the most important person on the island not have their own mode of transport? Surely in an archipelago the Peacekeeper would have their own boat?

I enjoyed this book. This is book two in what is proving to be a fun and entertaining series. I like the idea that Sadie as new witch is the peacekeeper to a group of small islands that is filled with wonderful and interesting characters. The only problem I have with it is Sadie seems to start investigating one case and then it is totally forgotten as a more pressing case arises (maybe as the series progresses we will find out more). Other than that I enjoyed the mystery but it is the the characters that I really liked. The teasing / comradery between the group of friend and of course the love triangle of which hunk she is going to end up with. The cat dentist familiar is also good for a few laughs. I can't wait for the next book. When Knockout Kate revives the Battle of the bands competition on the local radio, Sadie her friend and judge thought the worse that would happen was having to listen to some terrible tunes sung badly. But when one of the callers to the show is cut off during what sounds like a fight Sadie and her friends rush round to discover a body. At the same time one of Sadie's guardian's discovers a burned area in the woods where it seems someone was performing sacrifices and he blames it on his rival guardian Could someone be practicing dark magic or is it a werewolf attack? When the body disappears from the crime scene it looks like the two could be connected. Can Sadie once again keep the peace and catch a killer? Not to mention survive a full moon? and some really bad song lyrics? I like the narrator. I have heard a few different stories by other authors read by Naomi Rose-Mock and found them all to be a pleasure to listen to, She is a talented narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I really enjoyed the second book in this series, although there were several issues where it conflicts with the first book it doesn't esp make the story less appealing or fun to read. It always annoys me when books talk about feeding cats cream cause cats are lactose intolerant. But I realize this cat could be different cause he's a "special" kind of cat. Also the author uses "hummed" too many times instead of "said" I don't know how a how a person can "hum" a sentence. I've never heard that used before. Maybe its a "Canadian" thing. I'm almost positive the author is Canadian even tho it doesn't technically say its based in Canada. I just got the "feeling" of Canada. Oh and the author also has the characters "shrieking" alot. I sound like in leaving a negative review but I seriously loved th is book. The love triangle is heating up and is fun but I'm wondering how far they can take it before it gets messy or someone gets hurt. I don't want the triangle to stop or for her to choose one...its kind of obvious who she'd pick..at least to me. Cause the other choice would be so obviously WRONG! I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I also love that these books are pretty short and don't make you wait too long to find out the mystery. I can read each book in a col of hours.
Sadie is called to a meeting on an island with Miller. They discover that everyone is missing except one person. Sadie learns that some of the people missing are her family. Sadie and Miller are called back due to a murder. Sadie goes back to the scene to discover that the body is missing. Sadie learns more about Effie and Katie's relationships. Things are pointing to someone that they know is involved in what is going on. It will take Sadie and the others to stop what is happening. Sadie will also have to figure out what to do about Miller and Ryder and her feelings.
This was a really good story that will you will have fun reading. There are so many different moments in this book that will grab you. Sadie will have a lot on her hands with what is going on, her guardians and more. I recommend reading.

The islands that encompass Hallow Haven are excited for the Battle of the Bands that Sadie's friend, Kate, is hosting via the radio station where she moonlights. Kate has asked Sadie to be a judge, but Sadie already has a lot on her plate. She's torn between two suitors, trying to run the café she inherited, Kate's sister has managed to lose a book of spells, there's a ritual circle in the woods, and now Sadie has been called on to investigate both a murder and the disappearance of some of her own family members. Fortunately, she has help from Kate and Effie, her talking familiar Fritz, and her two guardians--Miller and Ryder. Will it be enough to retrieve Effie's spell book and prevent mortals from working dark magic in pursuit of selfish gains?
The story was okay for some mindless entertainment. It lacked substance, and there were too many things that seemed to resolve themselves without any drama. Fritz was probably my favorite character.
I am really enjoying this series. It has very interesting, dynamic characters who are a combination of magic users, human and shifters. I am never quite sure what is going to happen next and it is difficult to stop reading before I finish the book. The world building is pretty twisted with a lot of crazy things going on and odd weather that seems to just crop up out of no where and is sometimes influenced by the characters. I really enjoy that Sadie is learning about her heritage and the other characters in each story as we read it, making for a different perspective than I am used to. I have not really noticed any grammatical issues and love the all the sub-plots and interwoven relationships. Good story.

And entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. The young woman inherits a café on an island and decides to take the change in her life and move there. Once there she soon find out that’s kind of a strange place and she’s actually been there before. She also soon finds out that she is a witch. A witch that is destined to be the guardian of this group of islands. Along with her newfound cousins and friends she is The peacekeeper on this group of islands. So when she is investigating magical crimes with the assistance of the police chief and her friends and family on occasion. She always finds out what is going on. And eclectic group of characters a fun and entertaining storyline. Check it out
A victim of her own success, our heroine now has a new mystery on her hands. And two suitors as well, just to make things interesting.
This is book two of the series, but it works just fine as a standalone.
This is a new cozy witch mystery with a very nice tropical setting. The story is well written, easy to read with a great setting filled with mystery and intrigue, as well as sandy beaches. The mystery is good, with enough twists to it to keep you going up until the end. We get to meet more of our diverse and often strange cast of characters and explore the setting some more, both of which are fun. I am enjoying this new series and look forward to seeing it continue to grow.
Highly recommended.

Sadie, the new peace-keeper, and Sheriff Miller are called to her uncle's house, to find that he and his wife are missing, They also find a pile of mail, that is slightly threatening, all in rhyme. Then called back to the main island to find a murder and another note of a threat in rhyme.... An engaging story with an interesting plot, enlivened by a chatty familiar, who is a shapeshifter, with interesting views of people and situations. This is the second book in the series, but it could still be read as a stand-alone, although it is definitely easier to understand Sally's background . Sadie Alden has moved to Hallow Haven and lives in a world of magic, ghosts and endless possibilities. Sadie is asked to travel to one of the outer islands to investigate a disappearance. But when she gets there, all but one person has disappeared! When she is asked to investigate a murder, Sadie finds that the body is missing. What is going on here?
This was a good story that keeps things exciting. Grab your copy and see if Sadie can figure out what has happened to all the people and who is behind this?
I love Mara Webb’s books. She never fails to make me laugh and keep me glued to the pages to find out who dunnit! Sable is getting better with magic just instinctively. She just thinks what she wants and it seems to happen. Felix, omg, Felix! He’s a laugh a minute! I really am enjoying all of the characters. Kate and Effie are so great with their sister back and forth. They really are bad at picking men, though. Lol! This series is a must read.

Sadie has her hands full again in this engaging second book in the series.
The magic and mayhem continues in this entertaining second book. Sadie and her friends encounter more bodies, more malice and more malediction centering around a Battle of the Bands music contest and a stolen spell book. Sadie also has another problem. She has two guardians instead of the peacemaker's usual one guardian and she is attracted to both of them. Things are getting even more complicated than usual. Now, I get to move on to book three!
**WARNING** Cliffhanger ending! While the mystery and story for this book are completed, it ends on a book-hook cliffhanger!
Sadie is getting used to being magical, and living on a magical island. But when she runs across a dead body, she is pulled into another mystery.
This quirky, cosy paranormal mystery, is set on a tropical island paradise, and filled with magical beings. At times laugh out loud funny, it’s an enjoyable, quick read that is perfect for the beach, the garden, or cozied up in front of a fire.
Recommended for those who enjoy paranormal mystery books.
There's going to be a Battle of the Bands. There's the revelation that death threats were sent to Sadie when she was just a baby. There's a guy murdered in the guitar store, Ryder is a werewolf hunter but Miller is a werewolf (which makes for a quite uneasy situation), a body disappears there's an important spell book. Another ghost appears and we find out just what some people are doing with a dead body.
The descriptions of some of the people in the story are rather well done. The Battle of the Bands contest has a number of rather humorous moments.
As peacekeeper of Hollow Haven, Sadie Alden is drafted to be a judge in Battle of the Bands, a contest sponsored by the local radio station. A book of dark magic is stolen and someone ends up murdered. Can Sadie and her two hot guardians figure out who is the culprit? This book is best enjoyed if the first book in the series has been read. I’m really enjoying this series! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The fun continues for Sadie Alden. After learning she descends from a long line of witches and is one herself, Sadie settles in to her new home and new role as "Peacekeeper" of the island.
The second installment in the Hallow Haven Witch Mysteries is as fun and entertaining as the first book. It is interesting to explore the character development as Sadie fills in to her new role.
Overall, the book is well written and I found it to be another enjoyable listen!
Another one where as soon as I finished it, I wanted to get to the next one. The entanglements between some of the characters are a bit complicated to follow - especially as there is a lot of talk about extended family connections. But it doesn't feel frustrating. It feels more like a reason I would want to read these again in the future because I am very likely to pick something up that I missed the significance of the first time.
I enjoyed reading this book , the interaction and chemistry between the characters is wonderful. This book, has a good storyline, it is entertaining, and filled with action, adventure, and mystery. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
I love Sadie's cozy mysteries, the stories are very well written and each book has a new mystery for her to solve and new adventures to live, the chemistry between characters is also very interesting. Can't wait to read the next adventures and what new mysteries come her way.

What more could you want? Beachy, murder mystery, people disappearing, great banter, quirky characters, twists and turns, and multiple romance possibilities. This story had me glued from the start. Very well done.

This second book in the series was fun and had interesting characters. Too many loose ends and things that happen for no reason or just get passed over without explanation. Good concept and a fun storyline, just annoying at times. I may return to this series at a later date to see if the writing gets better.
Interesting series about life as a witch on an island where she is also the peace keeper for the area but she can do it with the help of her newfound family, including some who are also ghosts, and her guardians. A crisis is averted just as a loud explosion occurs. Looking forward to seeing what happens next.
Fun series about a newly discovered witch finding out she has a family and magic. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. I can't wait for the next book!
i want the New Peace Maker and The Sheriff to be together...These first two books have been better than i thought. They are just long enough to be a good read with the silly stuff these books have but a Good story line. relax and Enjoy
Great characters, and storylines. A lot of craziness and twists and turns you never expect. I'm really enjoying this series. This book, and the previous one is recommend to anyone over 13 who lives the paranormal.
