Photography by The Street Sensei Foreword by famed genderfluid activist Desmond Is Amazing From the editor-in-chief of leading queer style magazine dapperQ , a bold, beautiful, and inclusive collection that encourages everyone to be comfortable expressing their own personal style however they choose. Fashion plays a significant role in the construction of identity. How we style our clothing and adorn our bodies sends a message not only about who we are as individuals, but the norms and values of communities, cultures, and societies across the world. For too long, mainstream Western fashion has promoted unattainable beauty standards and restrictive binaries as a means of social control. As editor-in-chief of leading queer style magazine dapperQ, Anita Dolce Vita has provided a platform that transcends these rigid, exclusionary, and oppressive fashion rules, inspiring people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender presentations to think differently about both queer fashion and beauty as art and visual activism and ultimately have a deeper, more fulfilling relationship with style. She believes that fashion should reflect who we are and values such as visibility, belonging, and liberation. In this refreshing style book, she shows that, no matter your gender identity, race, body size, ability, age, or style, queer fashion is for everyone.
YALL this book full of hot people showed up at my door a few weeks ago and I am OBSESSED. dapperQ is an inclusive queer style magazine that showcases how differently each individual expresses their unique style - and the editor-in-chief brings us this book in hopes to show that "no mattter your gender identity, race, body size, ability, or style, queer fashion is for everyone."
I absolutely LOVED going through this book and not only seeing some STUNNING outfits, but also reading some really beautiful perspectives on queerness as a culture. While there were an overabundance of stunning folks throughout, I adored Julian Gavino @thedisabledhippy - Love seeing other wheelchair users out there living their best life!!!!!
As I find my own sense of style—jeans, statement t-shirt, cardigan, Adidas, repeat—lacking at times, this beautiful book had me inspired. From the runway to the secondhand store, dapperQ’s editor-in-chief Anita Dolce Vita and friends have you covered with style, comfort, and confidence.
I love hearing how other people dress themselves, especially people who are exploring their gender or trying to reach a gender euphoria. As someone how feels so awkward in her body, it's nice to see people at home in theirs.
love seeing other people's fashion and how they're inspired. didn't like many of the looks in here (sorry! i just see better fits here in the bay area) but the book itself was good
