Guys I’ve been slacking on the textbook reviews, but I’ve been so busy it’s not even real. But this little tradition is becoming one of my fav parts of the end of the semester 🤭 anyway, I digress…
This textbook was so meta, it made me laugh so many times. Epidemiology is such a dry subject and the people who teach/do this know this, and as a result they’re some of the funniest people I’ve ever met. All this to say, there were so many silly jokes and moments where it felt like the author was actually having a conversation with me, which I appreciated. Without the occasional silliness, I don’t think I would’ve gotten through this textbook because it’s quite a boring subject (sorry Todd, you’re amazing 🥲)
The book itself was formatted well! The spacing and size of font was good and easy to read. Chapters were also short enough to keep my attention. The explanations of formulas and calculations were also really good and straightforward, as well, they took me through the formulas stepwise which helped me to follow along! Only thing I didn’t like about the calculations is that they didn’t show up for me for some reason?? Idk on the online version maybe it’s wonky or something, but that pmo sometimes ngl.
Other than that though this was a very thorough and well done textbook. Only reason I gave it just a 4 is bc it was so very boring to me 💔💔 I will say I learned a lot about research design and synthesis, which I have certainly used! But this content just wasn’t for me at the end of the day :/
