Autumn in Sunset Harbour – a delightful and heartwarming autumn-themed romantic comedy from CP Ward, much-loved author of Christmas at the Marshmallow Cafe and Summer at Blue Sands Cove.
When her grandmother’s death brings Rachel Castle back to her Cornish hometown of Porth Melynos—known to locals as Sunset Harbour—she has no idea of the run of bad luck that is coming. Finding herself homeless, carless, and in a doctor’s waiting room, she wonders what else can go wrong. With her schooldays sweetheart now living with the girl who bullied her, Rachel wants nothing more than to get out of Sunset Harbour and never come back.
But small towns have a way of holding on to you, and when Rachel meets a young and mysterious fisherman with a twinkle in his eye, her luck starts to change. As the autumn leaves begins to fall and the evenings to draw in, will Rachel finally find the answers she’s been looking for, answers to both the questions of her past, and of her future?
From CP Ward, the author of the bestselling Christmas at Marshmallow Café, Summer at Blue Sands Cove, and Autumn in Sycamore Park, Autumn in Sunset Harbour is another delightful romantic comedy that will have you pining for quiet autumn days, hot coffee and warm fudge, and the comforting embrace of loved ones.
This one is a bit more difficult to rate. It wasn’t bad, it was just okay I suppose. The book wasn’t very autumnal at all. It didn’t give quite the seasonal uplifting and cosy vibes at all, which was a bit disappointing. However, it did have some “deeper” subjects such as grief, dealing with one’s emotions, connecting with your roots, trying to forgive yourself and move forward when times are hard etc. I just didn’t really “connect” with the main characters. Also the way the main character dealt with the loss of her grandmother just did not resonate with me. It was like she didn’t really care. Maybe it just wasn’t the best book to read when you yourself are grieving, idk. But I also just felt like it just dragged on a bit; the book could’ve been shorter without it having a negative effect on the storyline, in fact probably would’ve made it better. So all and all I’d say something like 2,5-3 stars.
The slice of life genre can be done well with great narration skills. I felt this story dragged on, with many pointless things.
I'm a fairly simple woman with simple tastes, but damn, I'm not this simple.
A woman named Rachel Castle returns to her hometown, Sunset Harbour, from Brentwell, after losing her job, getting kicked out, and most importantly, because her grandma dies.
She comes home to a mother who's out in the dating field with her "nemesis", her old teacher who teamed up with another teacher, Clara, from the first book to work at Fudge Shop, a first love she can't attain but there are implications of it being an open marriage, Rachel becomes godmother of Raquel (her nemisis's baby), I'm just confused.
From births that took less than 15 minutes, to weird fishermen/doctors who fish with no lines, dead dads, snow storm making this story convenient, elusive mom's who only want to move forward, and firemen who only know firemen analogies, I was super bored. I'm sorry. I wish I could've enjoyed this. It might be for you, but it wasn't for me.
I still have the second book to go. I want some depth to stories. Everything felt surface level for me.

This is book three in The Warm Day's of Autumn Series and it is Rachel's story and it is a must read. This is a really beautiful and Poignant story and it has great characters and a storyline that pulled you in and kept your attention and I couldn't put it down and had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and it is such an engaging read. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I can't wait to read more book's in the future.
This was a really good book, a little deeper, perhaps, than others in the series or by this author. Covering so many subjects, but mostly about one's roots, direction in life, as well as the usual romance by this author, I found it very interesting. As usual the story makes a compelling read, and the fact that it is difficult to put down is as usual, the sign of a good book. I particularly enjoyed the good 'sense of place' that I felt whilst reading this story, the location was easily imagined and felt quite authentic. As usual, the cover is beautiful.
A delightful and heartwarming romance with an autumn them that you'll be glad you added to your reading list. A great read for a day curled up on the couch while the leaves fall outside your window and you enjoy time to yourself with good book and your favorite fall beverage.

I loved being transported to Sunset Harbour by this cozy fall story 🍂. This is Book 3 in a series, but works fine as a standalone. It's the only book I've read in the series, and now I'd like to read Books 1 and 2.
