I didn’t think there could be anything worse than teaming up with a headstrong alpha like Eli to investigate a series of shifter disappearances.
Only there is something much worse, and now I’m wishing like crazy Eli was still by my side.
I’ve woken up in some sort of facility. The creepy, experimental kind where nameless scientists are forcing me to do tests.
And I’m not the only one. There are others here too, and I don’t need to be a private investigator to know that we’ve been chosen for a reason—I’ve just got to figure out why.
But first, I need to get out of here, because whoever is behind this doesn’t care if we live or die.
My only hope is that Eli cares about me more than he was letting on and is trying to find me.
And if I do manage to survive, maybe I’ll be brave enough to admit that I don’t hate him as much as I thought…
I am so mad at myself that I read book 1 before I read book 2 not realizing ☹. I guess I was so into the book, I didn’t realize it picked up where book 1 left off – so that is a good thing that I understood what was going on. Eli is helping Iris figure out what is happening to the shifters who are disappearing. Things got a little steamy between Eli and Iris – are they fated mates? Afterwards, Iris was feeling a little overwhelmed and took off to get some distance, however, she was taken when she met up with a woman who Iris was helping to find her sister Cyn.
Experiments, a shifter family, doubts, deception, betrayal, secrets, truths, and family play a big part of this story. Iris escapes, and finds herself in England with Eli’s family, only to be bombarded by his mother being ruthless and mean. But Iris is strong and feisty and doesn’t back down. The story ends on a cliffhanger and I am anxious to see what happens, but I am also anxious to read book 1 to get more concept into Eli’s family, Iris’s beginnings and what part Eli’s family (uncle and step-father) have to play in the experiments being done on shifters. It’s like an arms race…and the weapon of choice… werewolves
Iris is missing, she made a rookie mistake. Following up a tip she leaves without telling anyone, not even a note or text. It was a trap. Project Night Moon grabs her, drugs her and takes her to their military lab. It doesn’t look good. Experiments are taking place on the kidnapped wolves. Iris is smart but can she figure out how to overpower and outsmart her military captors? They’d best not underestimate her, she’ll not go down without a fight … no way Iris will be their lab rat, not gonna happen.
Against all odds, she breaks out bringing with her a small three year old named Bella. Somehow, someway, Bella’s parents are able to cause a disturbance that allows Iris to escape, promising to keep Bella safe. It seems Bella is valuable, but why? And while imprisoned, Iris learns that the guards fear her …. Why?
Back at the pack, Silverstreak has been notified another pack member has been found… dead, ki11ed,. And the dead wolf was Iris’s client, Demi, whose sister had disappeared. Now Silverstreaks’ Alpha Remus is involved alongside Eli and Nic, their alpha dad.
Iris treks through forests for three days with Bella, trying to find her way back to safety. Now the plot thickens in more ways than one. More wolves go missing and trouble is stirring across the Pond at the Longbow pack. As if that’s not enough, there’s a betrayer in their midst … but who?.

Even though you could see it coming, it was still a great storyline
While I'm sure I'm not going to be surprised as to who is in cahoots with the sinister plot to use shifters as test subjects in medical experiments in the next book, it was still a lot of fun getting there. There's definitely breadcrumbs being dropped, and they're not hard to read. This book picks up right where Book #1 left off, which is with our heroine, Iris, held captive in the lab looking for a way out. Her erstwhile mate, Eli, is desperate to find her and he has the backing of his father and half brother (their story is told in the previous series, Chosen by the Alpha).
Sure, there's some unexplained plot holes (like the whole escape from prison thing), but I just kept plowing on through because I wanted to get to the end. While an interesting plot, it's definitely more on the lighter side of typical PNR faire - I'd put the steam level at a 1.5 out of 5. I still liked it though, not everything has to be an emotionally taxing, convoluted storyline to still be an enjoyable read. There were some sweet moments between Iris and Eli that I found touching, which is really what I read these romance books for.
This book does end on a cliff-hanger, but not an emotional, gut wrenching one. But then this whole series has been pretty tame. I do intend on reading the 3rd, and final book, of this series. There's one or two characters that I'm curious to see if they're going to get their own stories, or if this is the final series in this universe of characters that Ms. Wilson has created.
Iris Walker had been duped, lured away and then captured by the Project Night Moon people. A silver collar kept her prisoner. She wakes in their facility and sees that they are experimenting on people, and she recognized Cyn as one of them, weak and looking half-dead.
Files she had read mentioned these people were trying to turn shifters into super soldiers they could send out under their control. When she is given an opportunity to escape with a 3-year-old child, Bella, Iris takes her and runs. There is something special about Bella, so it is important to keep her safe. Will she be able to get them to safety? Can she find her way back to Eli when she has no idea where she even is? Will she be able to bring the other wolves here to try to close this dreadful Night Moon project down? Or will she and Bella be captured and dragged back to become victims?
Still hoping Eli cares about her enough to start a search for her, she and Bella continue running. Are either in condition to survive the dangers they may face?
The writing continues to be excellent, well-paced, and so vivid that it brings the reader into a place that feels like it just may be real. Grab your copy and continue with this well-written story.
The story got better than in the last book and we have cute little Bella now in the mix and she’s adorable and I just want to protect her with my life. I kind of hope Iris and Eli get together and adopt little Bella as their own.
Not as many continuity errors this time but there are a lot of copy and paste lines throughout the books especially when they are describing something for a second time. I’d of liked the author to at least try and describe it a different way but it’s word for word.
I feel sorry for Iris she has been through so much and is now thrown into London with wolves who are all looking down their noses at her, she is also worried about poor Bella but I agree that London is safer than Texas, although I have a feeling that Brock/Gage might be part of this Raven Brothers / experimental facility because they are dicks.
Eli has grown up a bit but he still comes across as a bit of a child who spits his dummy out.
I hope things work out and it’s a HEA. I feel like the author needs to move things along but now they are in another country I don’t know how this will happen unless they go back to Texas soon
Set against the backdrop of a crime investigation in the shifter community, this coming-of-age story highlights the lasting effects of childhood neglect and of narcissistic parents.
Eli and Iris suddenly are caring for a little girl, without knowing how to parent or what a child needs. They force themselves to remember what it was like growing up in abusive homes so that they can be sure that Bella is cared for, happy, and safe.
When they travel to England to get away from the Raven Brotherhood, Eli and Iris both fall back into their old ways of dealing with things. The situation spirals out of control, but each of them draws upon skills they have learned and the strength of being full adults. Even if they aren't sure where they stand with each other, they are able to count on the support of others who have experience standing up to the narcissists.
I can't wait to see what book 3 has in store!.

Eli awakes and is upset that Iris is gone then becomes frantic when Iris doesn’t return his calls. Eli’s dad and brother Remus note Eli’s actions and Remus surmises Eli and Iris are mates, Eli scoffs. Meanwhile, Iris has been captured for project Night Moon and undergoing a series of painful tests and makes a hurtful discovery.
Iris escapes with a plus one and makes it to Eli’s side. Eli bends the rules and uses all the resources he can to try to get more information on Night Moon. Living in a safe house as a family has its limits, especially when your pack is across the pond. Trouble’s brewing there and Eli’s going for support and believes it might be safer for Iris and the tag-along. What he didn’t count on was mommy dearest and the stepdad from hell being in attendance and wanting Eli’s submission to them!. Rating: 4.25stars
First book was good, ended on cliff that this book pick right up at end of book 1. not a lot of PNR action this book it’s all about feelings, no real story progression on getting a line on the bad guys……and Eli’ mommy and step-daddy issues and Iris’ hate of the rich. Most stupid comment ever. Iris blaming Eli for bring her to London, they just get in off the flight and someone alerted the family and the council so everyone and their brother was mobbing Iris and Bella. But yeah that’s all Eli’s fault. Then we have Eli finally confronts his stepdad about the abuse he suffered at his hands. And we get the cliffhanger and next book will not be put until Dec. I will forget about this story by then.
I think Skye Wilson has an excellent writing style, I like her flow and the way she navigates her characters. My issue with this book was more about the complexity, it really dived into it. I think this book moved away from romance, and the enemy to lovers situation fizzled and turned more like relationship problems when people don't talk to each other. There was a little bit of drag here, and to be honest it felt like I was being pulled along to get to the third book. So, did I like the writing yes, quality writing. Am I compelled to read the next book, no.

Demi told Iris about house that was bought by a group of people she was looking into. But when she got there, she was captured and woke up in a cell was experimented on they were upset that she had a pacemaker. Eli and his family were helping him and Iris find the people taken and never heard of. A couple tried to escape and released her but shocking them was asked to taken as Bella was a rare alpha female. Iris still have things to work out plus finding the missing girls. Good book!.

As Iris and Eli continue to try to unravel the mystery of the disappearing wolves and and who was instrumental in financing the researching the testing and murdering of humans and wolves. Their relationship ebbs and flows. After her escape from the facility with the young child Bella, Iris tries to keep them safe while still getting more clues from Remus Silverstreak, Eli and Alpha Nic Archer. Everything comes to a head when Alpha Nic Archer gets a challenge for the pack in London by his beta. They return to London taking Iris and Bella for safety reasons but trouble erupts.
Not much happened, and a lot did. It continues from the first book and it’s a lot of emotional stuff than actual physical stuff moving the story along. But poor Eli’s got trauma he has to deal with and we’re in that weird transition stage where he hurts everyone.
The writing is pretty good. Sometimes wows me, sometimes drags, like when it deals with drama. But either way emotions are provoked so that’s a note.
It has mystery and more. Yes it has some S** but not overwhelming. So it is for 18+
However, annoying the main characters are. Lol. You just want to tell at them, not seeing things right in front of them. It is what makes a good writer.
It is the 2nd book in the series series.
You can read it out of order but it helps to read her books on order. You know all the characters in play better, when you hear a name.
Okay, Eli was growing on me in the last book now he is starting to irritate me just a little. This whole mate thing and not admitting his feelings is going to bite him in the butt. I can understand Iris frustration and she needs to do what’s best for her and Bella. Looking forward to reading the next book.
I liked the story and where it was reading in this book, I sort of understood why the last few pages were so shitty with respect to Eli's character arc, but I still felt irritated at him. I truly identify with Iris. And looking forward to Eli growing up and redeeming himself.
Oh my goodness, my heart is pounding out of my chest right now!! I am so loving Eli & Iris for SO MANY REASONS but the main one is because they aren’t just some cookie cutter couple - they’re new and different and refreshing! I’m not sure I’ll have enough even after the 3rd and final book!! 😢😬🫶🏻
Ok. This one took a wild ride to the wrong side. No longer interested in this series as the side trip to London, the political BS , & mamma drama had absolutely nothing to do with the unresolved mystery. The first quarter of the book was interesting, the rest felt like a filler story … ugh!
Once again Skye Wilson had me on the edge of my seat.
You just wanted justice for be done especially regarding the stepdad. I mean really?
There are growing pains on all fronts but especially between the two main characters. In my mind I kept trying to tell the main male/female advice. Ha Ha
Anyway this has been a good series to read so far.
Another fantastic instalment in the new series from Skye Wilson. Delightfully dark and sinful. Great character development, and storyline evolution. Would recommend. Cannot wait for the next book.

Wow. I loved this book. The storyline and plot is amazing. I love the growth and development from the first book. There is definitely a lot going on and I have so many questions that need answers. I can’t wait to read the next book and find out what happens.
Add another problem to Eli’s and Iris’ mating dance, an attempted take over of Eli’s dad position as alpha of the Longbow pack via a council vote. It failed, but tensions are high. Remus and Eli are racing to identify who the traitors are.
There are so many twists and turns in this book, it’s exciting. The action is awesome. The romance between the main two characters is great. I am really enjoying this book. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Another amazing read with Eli and Iris's characters whose emotion, non-stop build and action along with chemistry had me rapidly reading. Can't wait for more of this couple.
This series has been hard to read . The plot was seemingly good , but there is just so much immaturity it’s like a teen drama book . So much trauma dumping . It’s dragged out waaay too much. The main characters are very childish , and kind of annoying .
