Mim Cohen roams the world in a travelling bookshop, with her dad and brother and a horse called Flossy. Flossy leads them where she will, to the place where they're needed most ... the place where the perfect book will find its way home.
Now Mim has arrived in the Cotswolds, just in time for a dog show. The judge, Lord Melville-Timms, is in a pickle. He has judged cakes and flowers and vegetables, but never dogs. And his bulldog, Bubbles, is shamefully disobedient!
Mim knows they're here to help Lord Melville-Timms. To give him courage. To prevent a dog-show disaster.
If only Mim could find Lord Melville-Timms the right book. If only Dad would stop giving him the wrong book.

I thought I was just reading this quickly so I could chat with my nieces but then my train stop was next and I was so sorry to have to put it down. It’s whimsical, sweet and lovely. And who doesn’t need the reminder that ‘Books. Imagination. Real life. The lines between them are not as clear as most people think’

I have very quickly become a fan of The Travelling Bookshop series so I was very excited to read this book, and I am very happy to say it was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. After reading the first three books in this series, reading this book was like a warm hug. I loved getting to catch up with Mim and her family and meet all the wacky and wonderful new characters that they met on their journey. I also loved that there were so many animals featured in this book; each of them with its own personality and quirks. Katrina Nannestad had done a phenomenal job with this book. The character and the way they interacted with each other was exciting while also feeling familiar. The plot was fun yet as with the other books in this story, it contained a lovely lesson for young readers to learn. As for the writing, it was lyrical and easy to follow. In addition to Katrina Nannestad’s fantastic writing, this book is perfectly Illustrated by Cheryl Orsini. The illustrations are fun and interesting; bringing the words of this book to life. The combination of a magical story with brilliant illustrations makes for a fabulous reading experience. I honestly do not have a bad word to say about this book, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this wonderful series. Mim And The Disastrous Dog by Katrina Nannestad is the perfect addition to The Travelling Bookshop series.
I’m about to say that Mary Poppins isn’t real. She ‘s just a character in a book. But right now, Grandpa Horace is disappearing into the clouds. Daisy is swaying about at the top of an apple tree. And flossy is taking us to a brand new place where somebody needs a book. A book that will change their world for the better.
I love The Travelling Bookshop series so I was very happy to see book 4, Mim and the Disastrous Dog Show, released.
Mim, along with her brother Nat and their Dad, travel to the English town of Puddling Muddlebury (I absolutely love that name!!) where they discover a dog show is about to take place. As always, there are some challenges to be overcome. Can their magical bookshop provide the books that are needed to make sure that the citizens of this little town can solve their problems? Mim is not so sure (although she should trust her Dad by now 😉). Nat makes me laugh in his quest to increase his letter collection and Daisy, the flying lamb, is delightful as always. When I read these stories, I can’t help but smile - they are pure happiness to read!
The Travelling Bookshop is a magical adventure that takes the reader to different places in the world. Once again, Cheryl Orsini’s illustrations are a perfect fit. The audiobook versions are a delight to listen to as well. I recommend for ages 8+
