Quarter-yard ("fat quarter") quilts are the hottest thing in quilting today. They're small, stylish and easy to complete in a night or weekend. This new guide to using these popular cuts of fabric in a broad array of styles and designs, is sure to be a hit! The 25 fat quarter small quilts featured in the book feature themes such as "Classic," "Just for Fun," "Country Charm," and "Vintage," and can be used as wall hangings, tablemats, doll quilts, gifts and more. This book features a how-to section with colorful graphics, a tool tutorial, and a special section showing color and fabric variations of the same quilt, giving quilters inspiration to create their own designs.
Detailed step-by-step instructions, a variety of patterns and fabrics, and short quilting history lessons scattered throughout. I would have liked to see some larger quilts - maybe one or two scaled up to at least a lap size. Another annoyance is that many of the quilts require special triangle cutting tools. I'd say that this one is more for grannies than the younger quilting generation.
This book is good for people that like traditional patterns and fabric. I am not one of those people. I might have liked some of the quilts if the fabrics weren't so dated, but I couldn't get past the fabrics and I also felt the patterns were very old and traditional. This book is not for a younger, more creative audience.
