Could something you can’t remember be the best decision of your life? Maisie Sullivan is a hard-working marketing assistant from Milwaukee who wants nothing more than to earn a promotion and finally finish her college degree. But when she’s swept off her feet by a charming cowgirl while on a business trip to Las Vegas, she decides there’s no harm in having a little fun. Drew Campbell is a no-nonsense Wyoming rancher with a talent for horse training. Her only goal in traveling to Las Vegas for a riding competition is to win enough money to pay off her family’s debts. But when a beautiful stranger catches her eye and then some, she figures she might as well let loose for a night on the town.

What takes place after that, neither can recall. But months after parting ways, when both their fortunes have fallen, they discover what happened in Vegas has followed them home. A quickie divorce will solve the problem, but each woman has something the other needs, and neither will budge until she gets her way.

They just want to get on with their lives, but will they end up falling in love with their wives? If you enjoy a smoking hot clash between a city girl and a ranch girl with a one night to forever romance, don’t miss the latest collaboration of Miranda MacLeod and TB Markinson.

'ARC generously provided by both Authors in exchange for a honest review'

**'Creativity is merely a plus name for regular activity. So any activity becomes creative when a writer cares about telling a story the right way or better...'

Delightful read!
Lose yourself in Markinson & MacLeod's sumptuous love story of a ranch lady falling in love with a city woman in a sorta surprisingly unexpected way.
With sharp wit, good average-paced dialogue, likable supportive characters, family dynamic, indepth & staunch loyalty to ranch life and infectious fascination, 'TWO OF A KIND' is deftly entertaining, well written with a unique premise.
Some readers might have some lingering questions after finishing the storyline along with the epilogue. Like, 'Is Markinson & MacLeod turning this story into a series?'
But overall, 'TWO OF A KIND' is just a fully realized romantic story where both Drew & Maisie's characters are completely fleshed-out and well developed because of these two incredible writers with their artfully writing style.
A highly recommended book!

A city girl in cowgirl land, a fun ride to happiness

I love the stories T.B. Markinson and Miranda MacLeod create for us, funny and heartwarming tales with imperfect women you want at least to be friends with, if not more.

Drew loves nothing but her family and their ranch somewhere in Wyoming. She works hard and rarely enjoys herself, not even when she participates in a rodeo competition. She just wants to win the prize money to save the ranch. But sometimes things don't go according to plan. The unexpected surprise of the day is Maisie.

Maisie is attending a convention in Las Vegas with two work colleagues and figures a little fun is in order while she's there. It's not the casinos that catch her interest but a big strong cowgirl who steals the show and attracts Maisie like a moth to a flame.

We all know the saying: what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. But sometimes the adventures in Vegas come back and bite you. This is exactly what happened with marketing assistant Maisie and rancher Drew Campbell after the two had spent some pretty hot hours together and now neither of them can remember any of it. Maisie only knows that Drew left her in the hotel room without a goodbye. But months after their encounter, they will discover that what happened in Vegas has followed them home.

Will City Girl Maisie survive an unexpected stay at the ranch in (almost) no man's land in Wyoming? Or might she even fall in love with Drew's world? To find out you must read the book and you will not regret it.

In T.B.'s and Miranda's stories you will always find situations that might happen to you. You can laugh with the characters, cry with them and cheer for them to do the right thing. Both main characters are excellently fleshed-out and although they seem so different at first glance, they fit together better and better the longer the dance goes on. The stubborn rancher, who is averse to change and can probably handle animals better than people, and the sometimes insecure marketing assistant, who is better than she thinks she is, slowly grow into an unbeatable team. But before they can enjoy their happy ending, they have to go through a tough rodeo.

A story for a few hours of fun, rolling eyes, cheering, and laughing.

Thanks to the authors for providing me with an ARC for an honest review.

A good fun, romantic comedy read. Kindle Unlimited.

Just a satisfying light read, with the right amount of humour, and quite a lot of good feels, too.

This does deal with the typical rom-com formula, and has a bit of a black moment, but it ultimately was entertaining and enjoyable, so I'm not mad about it.

I think others will enjoy it a lot. A great casual, low stakes read.

TB Markinson & Miranda MacLeod are by now my favourite co-writer combo. If I wouldn’t know before that it’s a co-write I don’t think I would notice while reading. That’s how in sync these two are. 😊

Once more I had the best time and smiled a lot. I think opposites attract is a good way to describe the characters. On the one hand we have Drew the confident but a bit serious (and maybe a bit grumpy ☺️) cowgirl. On the other hand there is the sweet city girl (and not as confident) Maisie who never thought she could be anything but straight. Both names are not a short form a side note that was actually mentioned in a funny way in the book. ☺️

When they meet in a place Maisie never thought she would ever visit in Vegas sparks literally fly. And when it seems like fate that their paths cross over and over again they act on their feelings. Both believing they won’t see each other again after this trip. Circumstances make them part in a different way than expected. What they also didn’t expect is that they had to see each other again because an as it seems silly mistake made them marry in Vegas.

Maisie joining Drew on her ranch, a ranch that is in a bit of a financial crisis, means them having to spend lots of time together. Especially after Maisie offers her help and thinking about business ideas for the dance. Maisie realises more and more what a hard job being a rancher is. And it’s not only her who learns a lot about what it means being a rancher. I also learned a lot and this was something I totally loved.

Besides not knowing what the future will bring for the ranch Drew is also worried about her father’s health, which is actually the reason he had to retire early (against his will). Having lost her father several years ago, Maisie feels even closer to Drew. Not to forget there is still their amazing chemistry.

While they both try to do their jobs and keep their hands to themselves it’s a matter of time until things explode between them. 🥵 Afterwards the question is how they go from there, then actually it’s only planned Maisie staying for 6 months.

All in all this was again a wonderful story and there is only one little thing I missed. At some point we get to know what ideas Maisie had for the ranch or what she already implemented at some point. That was a bit a surprise for me. I somehow expected that we get to hear about it while she was planning it. But that’s really only a tiny complain and my personal preference. I’m sure others won’t care about that at all, because we still get introduced to several more ideas. And it’s not like it made me enjoy the story any less. 😊

And now better stop reading this and get the book. If you‘re already a fan of these two you will be very happy of this book. And if you’re not yet why don’t just give this story a chance. 😊

Horses and ranches.

I love it when T.B. Markinson and Miranda MacLeod collaborate to write a book. I think they produce better books together. I also like Abby Craden as a narrator, so I had a lot of fun with this audiobook.

This is generally a lighthearted story that starts in Las Vegas. Two strangers have a fling, unknowingly get married and part ways only to discover their new marital status months later. Drew seeks Maisie out to discuss the situation and Maisie ends up moving into Drew's ranch because she needs a place to stay and Drew agrees to keep her around for her marketing ideas to save the ranch.

Maisie and Drew are insecure characters but about different things. Maisie essentially has a low self-esteem but I love her a lot. I think she's kind, easy going, has a good attitude when it comes to learning and is good at marketing. Drew doesn't trust women enough to commit to a relationship and even though she's clearly attracted to Maisie, this distrust is a barrier between them. I think Drew and Maisie have good chemistry that is accentuated by Craden narrating it and there is character development for both of them.

I like this audiobook. As I said, it was fun, and that is coming from someone who doesn't particularly look out for books about countryside, horses or ranches.

Another wonderful co-write by Markinson and MacLeod.
Las Vegas - casinos, wedding chapels, conference rooms, flashy shows and other fun stuff. Yep, that's the setting at the start of this nifty little romance.
Rancher/horse trainer Drew and marketing assistant Maisie literally bump into one another before a riding competition in Vegas. From totally different environments, they are both weighed down by financial troubles and unfulfilled dreams but put up a brave face to friends and family. A walk on the wild side for Maisie and no strings sex for Drew results in a drunken one night stand and that should be the end, right? Elvis, a pink Cadillac and getting hitched continues this roller coaster ride romance with humor, heat, half truths, a wonderful supporting cast (especially Hannah, Donna and Cheryl) a bit of angst and realistic lead characters that have insecurities and flaws. There's an eventual HEA but it is at the ranch that Maisie and Drew have to learn to trust one another, believe in change and remember everything before they can get there.
This is an easy, enjoyable read that I highly recommend.

I rec'd a copy from the authors however this is an unbiased, totally voluntary review.

Another hit by TB Markinson and Miranda Macleod! I love their co written books and this was no exception. Maisie and Drew end up hitched after having a little too much fun in Vegas and hilarity ensues. The accidental Vegas wedding is always a theme I find fun and with this team it was great! Characters are witty and entertaining together and the side characters are just as much fun. Can’t wait for the next release from these two!

My second finished book but the first to review in the new year.
Enjoyable romantic story. We have an instant attraction leading to instant wedlock and the journey thereafter between a rancher and an out of job marketer.
I must say this reminds me of any of the harlequin/M&B stories that depict an up country hunk with a city damsel. The difference with F/F characters is that they come with more class in comparison 😉.

Absolutely adorable! When Ranch owner Drew and college dropout Maisie wake up married after a wild, drunken night in Vegas, they have no idea how much the next year will change their lives. Both of them are incredibly likable—though Drew can be a bit frustrating with her assumptions and mood swings, it makes her feel all the more real. Overall, it’s a charming and heartwarming sapphic romance that leaves you rooting for everyone involved.

Two of a Kind by T.B. Markinson and Miranda Macleod, narrated by Abby Craden

I love when T.B. Markinson and Miranda Macleod co-write a book because the reader is guaranteed fun, romance and heat in equal parts. Two of a Kind is no exception.

Maisie Sullivan is a marketing assistant who wants to get a promotion to go back to college. Drew Campbell is a rancher and horse trainer who is deep in debt. When they meet during a business trip in Las Vegas, they get involved in a one-night stand but they cannot recall what happened afterwards. Months later, they discovered that what happened in Vegas didn’t stay there after all…

This is an entertaining no strings attached, opposites attract, rom-com low on angst. The theme of “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” has been tried in Sapphic fiction before, but mixing it with a ranch backdrop makes the difference between fantasy and real world more contrasting. Both main characters have wishes and aspirations and reality is hard on them, but maybe together they could conquer their dreams.

Talking about the main characters, they couldn’t be more different, physically and personality-wise. Both Maisie and Drew are likeable and their chemistry is so strong that the reader will cheer for them to get together. The cast of secondary characters is very well fleshed out too, especially Maisie’s work colleagues and Drew’s little sister.

There is also a coming-out story in the plot, and I loved how natural it all felt, both for Maise and the people around her. We have enough homophobia in real life as it is and even though I also enjoy a good coming-out conflict, it’s a nice change to read about a more tolerant world, even if it’s just fiction.

Abby Craden narrates the audiobook version and did a very good job at it. Both characters’ voices are distinct and the overall tone of the narration is spot on as usual. This is an ideal summer read/listen, light, fun, hot and romantic at the same time. A great way to spend a few hours. 4.5 stars.

The tale of a love affair that begins in Las Vegas. Despite the fact that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, the story continuous which is delightful. I haven't read the sweeter romance for long time.

In Vegas, two completely different ladies, a city girl named Maisie and a country girl named Drew, meet by coincidence. While their origins differ, their goals are similar in that they want to obtain money to get out of debt and advance in their jobs. Because the females are young and in need of attention, they fall for each other. The Vegas entourage and their exotics towards each other provoke a bunch of adventures, angst and emotional peaks.

Aside from the MCs' countless romantic ups and downs, the novel depicts rugged rural life on the ranch through the perspective of a delicate city dweller. In addition, I learned a little about American Wyoming land law restrictions, which are extremely harsh on landlords. However, these rules seem to be quite reasonable as far as zoning plan is respected.

I’d like to put here some warning. This book is strongly captivating. The reader flows from chapter to chapter in a wink of an eye. The second half of the novel seriously deprived me from the sleep because I HAD TO find out about the end of Drew and Maisie’s struggles. Today at work I was only half awake after finishing this read. However, it is Monday! It covers everything!

Great opposites attracts story. Not everything stays in Vegas apparently. Drew and Maisie come from different worlds but have similar money issues. They feel an instant connection which is strange for Maisie cause she's straight. They have an amazing night together that leads to a second that they can't remember. They story is amusing, sexy and enlightening. Drew has a hard time trusting and Maisie has self esteem issues. They battle each other all the while growing closer. Drew's family are a huge part of her life and something Maisie loves. Another great collaboration By Miranda & T.B. The book hit so many emotions for me and even brought a few tears as well as laughs. I loved it.

Very good

A different premise from the 2 authors, with Maisie and Drew completely unaware that they got married during their last night in Vegas, but a very entertaining read. Fun and flirty, the cowgirl and the city girl will make it hard for you to put this one down

Heartfelt Adventure!

Maisie and Drew meet in Vegas and one night changes both their lives forever. Eventually discovering what they couldn't remember from that night, their paths cross again and Maisie finds herself at Drew's ranch helping out. When Maisie and Drew really start spending time together they are reminded why they were attracted to one another and learn how they can help one another achieve their dreams.

I loved every second of this. From starting out fun and a bit wild it transitioned into a most heartfelt story not just about self-discovery but taking risks and chances, and most importantly having trust. Maisie is brilliant, having judged Drew wrongly after feeling abandoned by her in Vegas, she gets the shock of her life when she arrives at Drew's ranch. You just had to admire her spirit in wanting to try and help, and finding areas where she could really lend her expertise. She just fitted in there, so when things become unsettled again between them I just hoped they'd both remember what they'd done for one another.

Drew was really hard working and strong for so many people. Once I learned this later in the story, I had a new found love of how carefree she'd been when she and Maisie met. It was understandable she'd wanted to have a little fun because things on the ranch really were a test of her resilience. It was a struggle with Maisie sometimes but Drew had really fallen for her hard and remained as patient and understanding as she could. It was all so natural how well they connected again and while working together to try and save the ranch.

I really loved reading this story. It was the right mix of fun, drama, and learning lessons only life can teach. I hope this isn’t the last story we have with Maisie and Drew because after everything they went through, they have an exciting future I really want to know about!

Two of a Kind was a book I stumbled across in my quest to find a comfort listen. Low angst and Abby Craden. Bingo. Plus, a couple of writers who always deliver on the humour/romance/sex side of things.
Maisie just wants to keep a promise she made to her dad; get her college degree. Life however has other plans. She is under appreciated at work, but she is relying on a promotion to make the money she needs. When that job sends her to Vegas for a weekend of work, she ends up meeting a woman she can’t get out of her head.

Drew is in Vegas for a horse competition, traveling from her ranch, with high expectations of taking home the big chunk of prize money that accompanies first place. It’s in the bag, because she is the best at what she does. Plus, the future of the ranch is depending on her. When her hat flies off during her ride, and she comes face to face with Maisie, the course of both of their lives is set to change.

Both women are left devastated and emotionally drained after their night in Vegas, for completely different reasons, and it isn’t for a few months until the truth about what happened comes out, and they are pushed together once again. The instant chemistry they had to begin with is still very much there, and they laugh and banter their way back to Drew’s ranch. On a mission to help save it, Maisie realizes she loves the country life, and Drew finds it hard to imagine a time when she wasn’t around.

Stuff happens in true light romance style, a little miscommunication, heartbreak, the grand gesture and the inevitable happily ever after.
Markinson and MacLeod are seasoned writers who know how to create sweet lovable femes, and broody soft butches, with story arcs that ensure a fast paced, humorous, and sexy ride. With Abby Craden narrating, Two of a Kind is not to be missed.

Rollercoaster of drama, romance and fun (4.5 stars)
This story was more drama heavy than I expected it to be based on the book cover (I assumed more fluff), not the story synopsis (which I did not read ahead of time). There is some fluff and alot of humor throughout the book but it doesn't always fully take the edge off of the dramatic events going on. That said I blazed thru the book in a couple of days wanting to know what happens next in the rollercoaster of events. There were a couple of predictable happenings in the plot but some good surprises and curveballs as well that kept me engaged.

I appreciate the characters being a departure from the lesfic stereotype of rich successful women with their acts together and instead being grounded in reality with real problems and issues to confront and sort out. Maisie and Drew have great chemistry when they're fighting as much as when they're lovin' and everything in between; I didn't always root for them to be together but still cared about them and their happiness whatever form that might take. The supporting characters make the most of their scene time but the story often zeroes in on Maisie and Drew as a pair so you really get to know them, what makes them tick and what holds them back in their lives and relationships. All of the characters feel like people you could actually encounter in real life for better or worse.

I'd suggest not reading the story synopsis ahead of time to more fully enjoy the ride of the plot trajectory and to get comfy to read this book for long stints with your favorite beverage. I have read several other books by Macleod and Markinson and love the seamless voice of their writing collaboration. I look forward to reading more of their work in the future.

I received an advance reading copy of this book from the authors in exchange for an honest review.

This writing duo produces a fun and light read. Maisie Sullivan works hard in a job where she isn’t appreciated wanting a promotion and to finish her college degree. When at a business conference in Las Vegas she meets Drew Campbell. Drew is a rancher from Wyoming and in Vegas for a riding competition. After waking up with no memory of the night before they return to their lives. Three months later Drew arrives to tell Maisie they got married wanting her to sign papers to make that go away. But Maisie needs to regroup and decides to return to Wyoming with Drew.

The start of the book is almost over the top silly. Drew’s behavior in Vegas is very different than her character who is trying to save her family ranch in Wyoming. But the two together are fun. Arriving in Wyoming Maisie quickly uses her business skills to help at the ranch in ways Drew doesn’t understand. Drew has trust issues stemming from her mother leaving. But Maisie slowly breaks through the walls. You know they are going to end up together but I like that is wasn’t sure how the authors were going to bring about the HEA.

T.B. Markinson and Miranda MacLeod once again deliver a delightfully entertaining romance for readers to enjoy. This adorable story is filled with fun tropes. The dynamic duo neatly stitch together several of lesfic’s favorites: grumpy/sweet, butch/femme, country girl/city girl, accidental marriage—just to name a few. Furthermore, the storytelling is wonderfully supplemented with healthy doses of humor that enrich the storytelling and make it a real pleasure to read.

Markinson and MacLeod have always been known to produce well-constructed, character driven stories. However, in Two of a Kind they have a little fun with tropes and add another dimension to their storytelling. The accidental marriage trope has always had great appeal amongst romance readers; it adds levity and humor to the storytelling, and that’s certainly the case here. The “oops, we drank too much and got married” provides giggles and fun while stirring passion and romance between Drew and Maisie. However, it contributes more than just grins; it lays the foundation for story tension and complexity, and that’s what really draws readers to these characters and their unusual romance.

Markinson and MacLeod always deliver great characters, and it’s evident that they put the time into developing Drew and Maisie. Both are appealing and work well in this story. Readers understand each of these character’s fears and desires; they realize what holds them back and what drives them forward. Their internal conflict is logical and pushes the story forward as their character growth unfolds. Not only is Drew and Maisie’s character development solid and well-plotted, it provides a strong theme. The end result is a dynamic journey that’s richly layered, interesting and engaging.

Final remarks…

These two women never stop managing to come up with fresh story ideas and engaging characters. Their creative approach produces entertaining, rich stories that readers can’t seem to get enough of. Drew and Maisie’s romance is sweet and charming; readers will smile and giggle at their crazy courtship. Bottom line, Two of a Kind is a solid romance, and I wholeheartedly give it a thumbs-up.

Strengths…

Well-written, rich and layered story
Engaging story arc
Likable, engaging characters
Sweet romance
Fun and delightful storytelling

This was a fun, fast-paced romantic comedy. We were swept up in an instant attraction between our two main characters, and what followed was a fun but sometimes bumpy ride. Our main characters were completely opposite, with Maisie looking to climb the ladder as a marketing assistant while Drew wanted to dedicate herself to working on her ranch in Wyoming. Despite being opposites, Maisie and Drew had wonderful chemistry and complemented each other in the best of ways.

I can’t say that this is my favourite romance I’ve read recently, but if you are looking for a fun, fast-paced and enjoyable read, this is a prefect place to go.

"Read" via Audible. Abby Craden does her usual excellent job of narrating this cute love story. It has the usual dust up towards the end that you see coming a mile away but at least it doesn't have chapter after chapter of the characters pining for each other before the happy ending.

I got a hankerin for some cowgirl romance recently...of which there is not enough, and just had to reread this book. I really love all the books I've read by Markinson and MacLeod, and this one is no exception.

The chemistry between Maisie and Drew, right from the get go is off the charts. They get together very early in the book before parting ways temporarily. After that they take a much slower, more gradual approach to their relationship and it grows so naturally. I really felt the connection between the two of them.

There is a third act breakup. It makes sense for the characters, but of course could have been avoided with the littlest bit of trust and communication. Remorse is felt quickly though, and the break doesn't last long on page or chronologically. I loved what they did for the epilogue as well, it really was the perfect way to end things.

Good start. Two very different experiences of Vegas.
This book may be a victim of the collaborators previous success. (The AM Show, which I loved!) This is a fine book, but it’s not wow.
I feel the book got a bit more into its stride about 40% in, when the couple inhabited the page together.
I think that the "twist", known to us from the blurb, us knowing it had happened, but the mains not, didn't work that well. The plot was fine and the chemistry okay. I just didn’t love it, or them. I’ve used I think a lot and that is because I’m not 100% sure what stopped me loving it. Nothing however stopped me reading it.

Another great book from the dynamic duo of TB Markinson and Miranda Macleod. Maisie, a marketing assistant is on a conference in Las Vegas. There she meets Drew, who is a horse trainer in a competition there. Their connection is instant and they eventually go out on the town in Las Vegas. What happens next involves lots of alcohol and memory lapses! Really well written, with humour and little aghast. Would highly recommend.

I highly recommend this sweet romance.
