The shining lights of Isaca reveal what’s lurking in the shadows.
Azer warned Catron about the Isaca Realm, a land beyond her knowledge of the map. When an assassination initiates a war between Mo and the northern kingdom, she is summoned to serve as an Incantor, feeling ill-equipped and still dealing with her own grief.
But life in Mo is not as idyllic as Catron imagined. The Red Shadow excludes her from training and social gatherings. The new queen seems personally inclined to control Catron’s relationship with the royal magician, making progress impossible. Her only solace is in her sword lessons and quiet times with her best friend Fivlon.
As the enemy encroaches on the capital city, secrets emerge that threaten Catron’s world and everything she thought she held dear. Now, she must decide between loyalty to a cause, or to the family she never knew she had.
I have LOVED this series since the beginning, and each book got better and better!! With all the shocking twists and turns, the adventure and sword fighting, arrow shooting action…what’s not to love!!
The Shadow’s Secret is definitely my favorite!! I hated to have to say goodbye to the many characters I loved, especially Catron and Fivlon, who have been my favorite since the first book.
I loved the growth you see in the characters as the series went on! Although some people never seemed to learn and grow. I adored Dawson, from the Red Shadow, and Arec (my second favorite red shadow) and Blackwell. They were true to Catron and protected her with their lives. The world building, Vradian, Reema and Mo, the triangle of power. Exploring castles and the academy was fun and I truly felt like I was there watching everything.
This was such a great series full of magic, adventure, evil, friendships and love, and this book was the perfect ending to the series! If you enjoy Sword and Sorcery kind of Fantasy, a Magical Academy, with friendship and romance, you will ABSOLUTELY ADORE this series!!
I have enjoyed reading this series, she has an intricate set of characters and they are developed into almost real , flaws and all. There are even hints that this may not be the last book about the kingdoms and characters. A little sad because some characters are lost that I had hoped to see more of.
The love story develops between Catron & Fivlon. The truth comes to light about Dawkins. Azer returns to his throne. Many details between all their life stories. A great finish to this YA series. But their story continues in The Green Door
This book was amazing just like the ones before it. A great end to a great series. Now time to read the green door and visit my favorite characters again as adults.
