A month ago, I thought magic only existed in storybooks. But reality is stranger than fiction. Just ask the bear in my kitchen or the corpse bird who keeps talking to me.
I’m a middle-aged magical timebomb with no idea how many people I’ll take down with me when I explode. The bite on my shoulder should have turned me into a zombie a month ago. There is no cure.
Acceptance means death, but I intend to live. I’ll slap some paste on my wound, pick up some antibiotics, and figure out a way to keep my animal shelter from shutting down.
USA Today Bestselling Author Keira Blackwood writes exciting paranormal romance and romantic urban fantasy with all the snort laughs and all the feels.
Magic? Who believes in that? As of recently, she does. Is she gonna turn into a zombie? Or worse? And then there's the bear that doesn't act like a bear around her. Things are just not right. Trying to find help for her problems, earning enough money to live on her, and maintaining her rescue shelter are enough to take her mind off the might-be magic surrounding her. And maybe not.
Old friends, new friends, believers, and nonbelievers keep the reader reading. There's is plenty of action. Former lovers, unique rescue animals, and so much more. Does she have magic, and if so will she learn to control it?
Not your average character, or romance but she's strong and determined. Will it be enough?
I was hoping that this book would be better than the first book in the series because Wendy seem to be pretty down to earth, but unfortunately, it wasn’t that much better. Wendy Maye seemed in the first book like she was pretty put together but in this book she was very much second-guessing herself and probably needed a self-esteem boost. In this book we finally get to find out who or what her bear issue is and also she finds out that she is a witch. She was also told that she is partially dead, which I don’t understand that at all. I don’t think I’m going to read the next book in the series. I would like to know more about the librarian, but I’m afraid it’s not going to be any better.
Who and what is Leonidas? What is happening to him? Who are wendy, Marnie, and Jayden? What do they do for a living? Why does Wendy go see Dr. Stetson? Oh my… after the visit to the doc, things got extremely strange. Who are Molly and Lily? Why are Imogene and Wendy taken to Marshmallow? Who is Imogene? What does she do that upsets and/or angers Wendy? What happens while Imogene and Wendy are in Marshmallow? I laughed so hard after the yard tour. Things got really intense with Rose. What happened and why? Can it be or does it get fixed? I ended up chuckling towards the end. What happens with Lily and her mother Molly? I enjoyed seeing the crossover with this story.
friends don't let friends eat friends- definitely a goal
as Rose and Wendy try to sort through their new realities, pieces of their pasts collide and further upset their apple carts
discovering more about their identities, skills and powers seems an especial challenge- appropriate for midlife women trying to find balance in their new life phases, in their cases their partly undead lives
crazy twists, characters, challenges and touching friendships and romance, with amusingly difficult family relationships and connections
Book 2 picks up a few weeks after potions-and-pajamas-by-keira-blackwood as Wendy is starting to suffer from the bite inflicted by Rose and realizes she is turning into a zombie. A huge bear is stalking her, a zombified raven is following her, and she is totally stressed out. Then her luck changes - for the worse or better? She’s not sure. Lily and Molly, crossover characters from “Midlife Magic in Marshmallow” try to help her through a crisis but things go bad. Lots of humor and support from friends, romance, magic, strange occurrences, unexpected plot twists… a delightful book
Another great addition to this series. Full of adventure and action to keep you hooked from beginning to end. I'm so looking forward to the next book in this great series. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.
The author has created characters that have to overcome their own personal chaos to finally integrate with their new found abilities. In the process you have laughter, panic, crazy & lot's of love filled interactions. The girls quickly find out that they are stronger together.
I enjoyed reading this book, it has an enjoyable storyline with action and adventure. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
A late blooming witch, trying to figure out what is going on, a friendly bear, zombies, animal lovers-this book has a lot going on. This is one that I think I would have benefited from reading the first in the series. Which is not usual for me.
Get ready, things are really getting kinda insane around the gang! Someone has a great big secret that should have been shared...lots of weirdness happening!
Original, funny, weird, with hot shifters and new witches. This story really leaves you guessing what will happen next. Absolutely loved it. Highly recommend.
