Tự do là gì?
If you have a child that likes to ask philosophical questions, this is the book to have on hand. What does it mean to be in love? What does it mean to be free? Do I always have to share? Why are there wars? These are just a few of the sixteen philosophical questions answered. The best part is they are answered with funny comic-book-style illustrations and explanations that kids can understand.
In answering a question about love, the authors first share the love that we feel for parents and siblings. Then explain that there is a very strong emotion that someday will be felt for another person including feelings of happiness and sadness and how to express it to someone else. Do we always have to share? Well, we need to learn to share, but it isn’t as simple as that. With brief, simple, and sometimes funny but also realistic explanations, kids will learn some basic philosophical answers to life’s biggest questions.
This book is the perfect way to introduce children to the subject of philosophy. It is a graphic novel or cartoon format and these illustrations lighten up a rather deep subject that usually requires a lot of higher-level thinking skills. The book covered philosophical thinking related to questions that cover topics about love, bravery, freedom, jealousy, fairness, history, and war, to name a few. The answers and thoughts on each question were discussed thoroughly but allowed readers to continue their inquiry on the themes investigated by leaving the reader with questions to answer on their own. This book is recommended for children in the early stages of investigation on these deep topics, maybe in their middle-grade years in education, but with a caution that this book will perhaps lead to even more questions than answers, as it seems some answers lead to less than certainty, which may be troubling for some children. Though some may hope for black-and-white answers, this book will help youth to understand that sometimes the answers to these deep questions may land in more of the gray areas of morality.
There are many questions in life that kids ask and adults may not know how to answer. This book is the answer! It explains so much to the reader while still leaving the reader to have opinions of their own. You can tell, based on its push for metacognition and deeper thinking, that it was definitely based in philosophy. While the authors and illustrator make the book engaging and fun, but the information within the book is truly thought provoking and will help kids work through some of the truly tough questions.
