What's an innocent little weekend between friends?
No one knows Chicago defense attorney, Jason Austin, better than Charlee Summers. Friends since college, she is well aware of his playboy status and the wall he puts up whenever he thinks a relationship is getting too serious. She also knows his beautiful heart. However, Charlee never thought she'd agree to play his girlfriend even for just one weekend. That would be pushing it, especially since she feels things whenever they are close.
Jason Austin can't stop thinking about the night that forever changed his relationship with his best friend Charlee. They both agreed that the timing wasn't right but certain events are pulling them together to show that what they are denying is inevitable.
This Friends to Lovers story is sure to warm your days, nights, and weekends.
I love a friends to lovers romance, as that is one of the likeliest type of romance to survive in the long run. Fifteen years, that was how long this couple had been friends and not letting the other know the love was deeper than friendship. I enjoyed the first book, it started the series off on a fine note. It was love for sure.
Welcome to a promising new series by talented writer, Sean D. Young! The first installment of the Love and Justice series features Charlee Summers and Jason Austin who are long time friends. Charlee, an aspiring lead prosecutor, and Jason, a criminal defense attorney is involved in the Austin family’s law business. I love a good friends-to-lovers story, and this one checks all the boxes. First, we have a “what are we doing” moment with our couple. It’s a steamy close encounter that causes Charlee to cut and run. Great opening scene! Being introduced to the Austins of Chicago is one of the highlights of this story. The family members serve as minor characters who offer support and unsolicited advice to our couple. I look forward to reading more about the family as the series continues. Jason, Quincy, Grayson, Xavier and Philip Austin are really cousins, but they are close like brothers. Their stories will be revealed in the coming books of the series. Kudos to Ms Young for treating her readers to an Austin family tree at the beginning of the book. By the way, Jason and Charlee’s HEA is everything! So sublime. WEEKEND GIRLFRIEND is an entertaining, enjoyable and enthralling read. It also serves as an introduction to a new and intriguing book family. I recommend it for your reading pleasure.
Such a refreshing read. I am a huge fan of friends to lovers trope. This was my first read by this author and it won't be my last. I love Jae and Charlee and everything surrounded their story. Glad that they did not get in the way of their love. Grand'mere is something else. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
This story was just okay. I started reading thinking there would be a decent amount of smut, which there wasn’t. Just a gloss over of the fact they had sex a few times. Next, the recurring lines about Jason and Charlie being just friends got very redundant. They had that same conversation over and over with literally everyone in the family and each other. It was overkill for me. There was no real story here. So much so that I overly anticipated the end of the book just to get to the real point, which was whether or not Jason and Charlie ended up together. AND SPOILER ALERT… Jason did the most cliche thing ever by proposing to Charlie at his cousin’s wedding reception. I think that is so tacky. I am so not a fan of this book.
I enjoyed this story and it was well written. This story showed all the ways best friends can make the best lovers and life partners. I have a love/hate relationship with friends to lovers stories because the couple usually doesn’t see what’s right in front of them or they always think the worst will happen and this couple was no different. I loved their friendship and how they were there for each other through the good and the bad. I’m looking forward to meeting the rest of the Austins as this series continues.
From best friends to lovers. From heartbreak to heart-filled. Jason took what his mom said to heart but it was preventing him from his soul mate. And Charlee chose the wrong men to keep from ruining her friendship. But when granny knows she knows. It took a weekend away from their normal to finally right what's been missing in their lives. It happened when the time was right and after they finally got outta their own way. It is my first time reading a book by this author and I enjoyed it.
What an excellent beginning to a new series!! True longtime best friends become lovers and what better way to start a real relationship!! This book is written so well that it just flows and before you know it, you’ve come to the end!! I’m so anticipating the next book! I just love the Austin’s!! If you haven’t read this yet, you’re missing out!! I absolutely loved it!! Kudos, Sean!! 💜
I enjoyed this book from the beginning because friendships are so important. I really like the way these authors are normalizing great family businesses and relationships. This was so uplifting to read while so much is going on with the election campaigns and all the negativity. I tried to put it down but picked it back up and finished.
I love the friends to lovers concept. Jason and Charlee had a solid foundation as friends, both trying to deny deeper feelings. I loved Jasons family too, they had each other's back and have the real to one another. Good friends, fun and a romantic island, what's not to love? I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Was a good story and the characters were well defined, even if they were a little over the top mushy. Yes I believe friends can become couples but thus story pushed it a little far for me. But it was well written and a good story line just thought it was missing a little excitement.
I loved the friendship that Jason and Charlee had and very much adored the "in love" relationship they shared. You know its HEA book so not spoiling anything with that tidbit. The story is the journey getting there. Definitely a great read.
Beautiful. Who doesn’t want their lover to be their best friend. This was very poignant. I cackled when the cousin had to left homegirl know that no matter what, family sticks together when you have no right to come for them.
True best friends are often our soulmates. Jason and Charlee had been fighting this for forever. A wedding weekend for his cousin solidifies their love forever. A very good read of happy ever after❤❤❤❤❤!!!!!
I loved this book. Like I could really relate to the fears expressed in being vulnerable. How the author had them speaking from their heart. Overall just a great read. I look forward to the love stories of the remaining Austin men.
the story line was a very good one unfortunately, i was unable to really get into it because of it being a virtual and of course it did not pick up the correct verbiage. which was really bad. i just could not get into it
Aside from a few of the typos, I truly enjoyed this! Everything about Jae and Charlee was beautiful. I am beginning to love friends to lovers and this was the perfect depiction of that!
