Wolf shifter Allara left the pack after her father named someone else the next Alpha and her boyfriend dumped her. She moved to the city with her broken heart and never looked back. Reid shows up 5 years later to tell her that her father is sick and dying and that the pack needs her. This book had all the ingredients to be a great shifter story. Both the H/h were solid people and the more I read, the more their reasons for behaving as they did make sense. 3 stars because the story lost steam near the end for the big show-down with the bad guy.
Reid and Allara the childhood sweethearts, now estanged. A middle of the road shifter story. Kinda fits under the rejected mates shelf...
It could have been more punchy but the author kept it very low simmer. I often like a low angst story, but you need to fill it with world building and character development to keep my interest. There was none of that here. Too much telling instead of showing.
Even the villain was kinda anticlimatic.
But it's a smooth story and the first half kept me pretty interested.
Allara left her pack when she was a teen because her love dumped her and her father declared another kid in the pack would be his heir, and not her. So she was dumped twice by the two people she loved most in the world. I'd have left too!
She's spent the last 5 years living in the city bartending and helping kids learn to read. No OP drama in this one except that her father had hoped she'd marry the villain. Now her father is dying and Reid shows up to bring her back. I was disappointed how quickly she ended up in the sack with Reid. Truly an eye rolling moment. Did Reid have a good reason for dumping her? Better than most I actually, and he does apologize nicely by the end.
There's some unfinished mysteries left for future books, like who exactly is Reid, and when will the villain strike again?
Even better the second time around! I read this book a few years ago, and put it back on my kindle to reread. Because now I’m being a better reader and supporting the authors I appreciate with reviews. I love these characters and all the twists and turns in this second chance story.
Drama! Allara daughter of the Alpha. Left the pack when her father named another to take his place and her boyfriend for years left her. Now Reid is back and wants her to come home. Why? Does he still love her? Is her father really ill? What is Jamie who will be next Alpha really up to? What will she do? Go home? Fight for her pack? Show Reid she doesn't care? What about her new friends and job in the city?

1.5 stars fr but low key i wasn’t expecting much because it was a free audiobook on apple books and i just needed something to listen to while i worked at the warehouse.
this literally followed one plot line and that was that she had to reclaim her right as alpha. lmaooooo they got back together so easy it was crazy. anyways super boring but kept me busy!
¿Por qué? ¿POR QUÉ? Estoy triste, realmente quería encontrar un libro de metamorfos que me gustará y pensé que podría ser este y... fucking patetic. Nah que decir, no me gusto para nada.
Quick read. Lighthearted. Didn't draw me in or have characters I was invested in or wanted to know more about so I probably won't be reading any more of the series.
Standard novella problems with the added touch of the poorly executed "strong" female lead. I didn't see a point in the MMC. The only notable thing he did was bring her back to the pack, and all of the conflicts were obvious and poorly solved. There was no intrigue in this story, and it was so focused on the past that the characters never rekindled there bond in a meaningful way. This was a disappointment.
Allara is without a pack, she’s been that way for a while now, but the bar she works at fills the spot of family, there isn’t much she wouldn’t do for them, including throw a drunk out that’s harassing her barmaid friend, she’s buried her past and heartache deep, but the moment Reid is there, and the past comes rushing to the fore..... Finally Reid has found his alpha, well the alpha’s daughter. The pack need her back, their almost alpha isn’t a good wolf, so he needs to convince Allara to come home, he knows he lost her heart five years ago. But this is bigger than them, the survival of the pack is at stake..... Allara and Reid are meant to be together, you just have to read them together and know they are fated to be a pair of mated wolves. But there is a lot of history between these two, childhood friends, young love and then first lovers. It seems that both Allara and Reid have feelings for one another, but she can’t go back there, he broke her heart last time, he could destroy her this time if she lets him near again. Reid knows he broke his mates heart, he had his reasons, but he knew it was for the best. But now, now the pack needs her, she has to come back and take her place, but seeing her in the bar, happy and smiling he knows he has no right to ask her. The feelings between them are still there, but neither can act on it. When she returns to her home (albeit begrudgingly) Allara has to adjust to life in the pack, and after five years it’s not going to be easy! You have the usurper, he’s been promised the position of alpha, and the alpha’s daughter! You have the alpha who’s dying, and just wants to say sorry. There is only one issue I have, there seemed to be a chunk missing between Allara coming home, and the next day waking up in Reid’s arms! Other than that, it’s a short and fast paced story. I’m hoping we get another book soon. A great start to a series. And an author that is definitely on my automatic reading pile.

Amelia Shaw has written a 5-star book that brings Allara and Reid back together. Reid and Allara had been a couple 5 years before until he broke her heart when she broke up with her. She left the next day and never went back. Now she has come face to face with him at her job at a bar. He has been looking for her for the whole 5 years she has been gone. He asks "can we talk?" She tells him she gets off in one hour and they can talk then. She takes him to a little diner not far from the bar and he starts to tell her that her father is sick and may not have long. He tells her that she needs to go back to the pack with him. She tells him that she is not going back. She will go and see her dad in a few weeks but she is not going back. He tells her that she needs to go back just to make sure that Jamie doesn't become Alpha. Jamie is the one who her dad chose over her before she left the pack. Reid tells her that Jamie is not good and he has something bad planned Reid comes up with a way to get Allara to go back to the pack with him. When they get there, Allara sees Rachel, she was a friend of Allara's mothers. Allara goes to see her father and he is not doing too well and he tells her that he made a mistake before. The next morning, Rachel comes to Allara and asked her to come with her. Allara's father has passed away. When the pack lays him to rest, Elder Mason said that the Elders' have talked about who was going to become the next Alpha. Jamie thinks it should be him since the Alpha had trained him to be the Alpha. Elder Mason says that the next Alpha would be Allara Bane. The next Alphan shall pass through the true bloodline. This makes Jamie really mad. After Elder Mason gets Allara to say that she would be Alpha, Jamie yells "No!. Jamie tells Allara that he challenges her for the position of Alpha. They go back and forth and Jamie tells her that the challenge is to the death. When they meet the next day, Allara lets Jamie thinks he won, and then she strikes. Elder Mason says that Allara is the Alpha and has won the challenge. Will Allara win the challenge against Jamie and will the pack accept her as Alpha if she does? Can Allara and Reid get back together and run the pack as the Alpha couple?

I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this book, but I couldn't put it down. I read it in less than one hour. It's addicting!!
Allara is a wolf shifter living on her own in the city away from her pack. Five years ago, Reid, the man she thought would be her forever, dumped her and she left pack lands the following morning. Leaving the Alpha, her own father, without a word. Every since her mother died when she was 14, her Dad shut her out. She turned to Reid for comfort and solace. They've been best friends since Reid was dropped off on pack land, alone as a young child.
Two days before the breakup, the Alpha announced his new successor as his Beta's son, Jamie. Thinking he could manipulate Allie to be with Jamie, he makes Reid obey his Alpha's demands. Reid had to break up with Allie and break her heart as well. But her dad never expected Allie to walk away from her family, friends, him or the pack. His machinations turned against him, because he realized too late that Allie and Reid were true mates. Full of regret, he made Reid promise to never tell Allie what he did.
Five years later, Reid tracks Allie down in the city where she now lives. Allie's not happy to see him. Reid needs her to come back home and see her dying father, and save the pack from Jamie's nefarious plans after the Alpha dies. She wants nothing to do with any of his plan. She might come see her Dad after he dies, but he hasn't contacted her in 5 years. She's done.
Reid challenges her to a fight, if she loses she goes home to see her father. She accepts and loses. So coming home after years of being away is hard. The first person she sees is his father. He's full of regrets and tells her everything he did and how sorry he is for separating her from her mate.
When he dies days later, the Elders decide that Allie will be the next Alpha. Jamie challenges her to a fight, whoever lives wins. She outsmarts the cocky wolf and pins him down. But she refuses to kill him, she just banishes him from the only home he's ever had; their pack.
Now Reid and Allie can finally be together after being apart from each other for so long. They have a bonding ceremony, which is a shifter wedding. But they refuse to forget that Jamie is still a threat to their pack.
Five years ago, Allara left her pack after her father declared someone else his heir and her first boyfriend broke off their relationship. She’s carved out a new life for herself which comes crashing down when Reid interrupts her bartending work. Her former childhood sweetheart explains that her father is dying and the chosen successor Jamie will start a territory war after gaining leadership, bringing the pack to ruin for breaking the peace treaties. Jamie begrudgingly returns home to say goodbye but can’t cut ties for a second time. This short urban ro-fan lacks development and maturity. The world building has some flashes of originality (mate bonds being known to only elders, female alphas, foundlings) but they fizzle under inconsistent/missing development. The main couple is likable enough and have valid reasons for their estrangement. However, the fast pace and lack of consequences ruins credibility and sentiment. It’s fine that Reid and Allara never moved on—but sleeping together after years without explanation, apologies, or effort feels cheap. Likewise, one partial conversation with her dad is not enough to gain forgiveness for manipulating her marriage, happiness, and future plans; for spying without contact, preventing her participation in the war room growing up, or not making his will known to the pack before his funeral. These are great rationales for character development—but you need tension, conflict, or angst and then resolution. The villain Jamie is allowed to walk away while threatening the alpha despite oaths being obligatory and the challenge being to the death. I didn’t hate it while actively reading but the flaws are obvious.

Allara was a weekend bartender at a local hangout slash sports bar. She has been doing it for five years now, and while she might whine and complain about it, there is no other place she would rather be. The place and the people had become her home, her pack. She was a wolf shifter. The daughter of the alpha of the pack she ran away from. The home pack she left behind which contained the same father who named someone else besides her as the future leader of the pack. The same father who ordered her boyfriend to break up with her because she would need to be mated with someone who was not considered an outsider. You see, at the time, her boyfriend was Reid, who was found on the porch of the meeting house. He is an orphan of unknown lineage, and it was five years ago when this happened, but there he was, standing in the doorway of this bar.
The physical world-building leaves a lot to be desired. The ethereal world-building is mostly personal, but it does help set the mood or the surroundings. The characters’ interactions seemed to be real enough but predictable. In fact, the whole story was predictable. The character’s history is part of the story.
This read has romance and the trope of fated mates, which in this story does not seem to affect the characters like it does in others. But hey, fate is a fickle thing. It has fantasy and paranormal in the form of wolf shifters. I give this read three stars out of five stars.
I love a good love story. This is no exception, true love always win in the end. Every love story has to have a tragic back story and this story doesn't disappoint. This is a real love story, Reid and allure were destined to be together. They were inseparable as kids, started dating in their teens. Until a sudden break up. She was devastated and left everything and everyone she knew and loved for a life in the city. Fast forward 5 years, she's forced to return home because her father is dying. She also has to save her pack from a power hungry psycho who wants to ruin her family's legacy. Her escort is none other than the man who broke her, Reid. She's reluctant to go back but she needs to see her father. They were able to clear the air before he died, she was named the new alpha of the pack. Immediately she's challenged by the man who was supposed to succeed her father. He was outraged that the elders of the pack picked her over him, he wants revenge. She's a true alpha, so she comes out on top. She spared his life, but threatened her upon leaving. She's able to get her mate and hopefully live happily ever after.
This is a wonderful paranormal romance that has all the elements that i love in this genre you have pack loyalties, unrequited love and the battle to be alpha
Allara had her heart broken when her childhood love walked away from her so she left the pack her father and him behind. What she didn't know is that her father asked Reid to leave her alone and he has been searching for her ever since she left. Now he has tracked her down but it isn't good news her father is dying and doesn't have much time and Jaime the beta he chose to replace Allira is evil and has plans that will destroy the clan. Can he convince her to return and if he does will she stay and what will happen when she is named as the new alpha Can she win a battle against Jaime and if she does will Reid serve beside her as the alpha couple You will have to work your way through all the twists and turns to see if they get a HEA
I found this story to be a pretty decent read. I did enjoy it and the plot was decent along with execution of the plot. The main characters were likeable and grew over the course of the story. I do feel like there could have been way more back story included in this story, my curiosity was piqued at the mention of events and was never really elaborated on. I was left wondering about the pasts of the characters and the pack. This is the first in a series and I could see myself reading the sequel to see if my questions would be answered.
I give this a three out of three stars. The plot and main characters were decent but I felt like there could have been more backstory into the past of the characters to gain an understanding on why they were the way they were. I can see myself reading the sequel but wouldn’t be too broken-hearted about missing it if I didn’t read it.

I love reading about wolf shifters. This one is a great book to read. So lets meet Allara and Reid. Allara is living in the city and has been for some time now. She left her pack due to someone breaking her heart. So one night when she is closing up the bar some craziness happens and she handles it like a pro. Only to see Reid standing at the door. Well she does not know how to react to this but knows that it can't be good. Boy was she right. We find out why Reid did what he did and dang was it harsh. Only the truth was not what we imagined. How could some one do that to some one they love. Shouldn't happiness and fate be enough. Can she get past all that and be there for her pack? Can she forgive the people who has hurt her the most? Challenges are made and accepted. What will happen? Can love be found again? We do get a happy ending but the story is not over just beginning.

Absolutely loved this! Wolf shifter Allara is awesome! Love her strength, her intellect, that she stands up for herself, and her independence. She’s such a strong female! Wolf shifter Reid is a total sweetheart, and so protective and supportive of Allara. They have such an amazing connection! Totally sweet and passionate! Wonderful chemistry! Allara left her pack when Reid broke her heart 5 years ago, but Reid comes to bring her back home because her dad isn’t doing so well. Also, the next person set to be Alpha if Allara’s dad passes away has some very distressing plans for the pack. Allara and Reid are in for some danger, and there’s some secrets that Allara is finally learning about the past. Really loved this! Entertaining and lovely!
This wonderfully written Book 1 in the Pack Loyalty BookSeries was an interesting Alpha Wolf, Second Chance at Love Story with very well-thought out scenes and storyline. These characters have very strong wills and personalities and their interactions are realistic. This intriguing story has the following: intrigue, twists and turns, adventure, action, danger, love, steam and a HEA. It is a fast-paced, alpha wolf shifter book that will keep you engaged from start to finish. I will be looking for more books by this author

Allara was working at the bar when her past showed up. She has worked her to forget about her pack and her ex. Allara decides to hear what Reid has to say, she is not really happy about it. Allara doesn't want to go back to pack life, not after what happened to her. Allara falls for the trap that Reid has set, now she has to go forward.
This story is about a young woman that felt abandoned by those she loved most. She will have to face her past to get to her future. This character is fiesty, doesn't take anything personality, loyal. You will enjoy the dynamic between Allara and Reid

3.5 stars. Light quick read, the odd missing/extra word here and there. Skims over the make out scenes but I enjoyed Allara’s story of how she ended up outside of her pack and Reid’s determination to get her back even though he’s the main reason why she left in the first place. I’m interested to find out more about Reid’s lineage. I couldn’t tell from the story if it was normal for humans to know about the existence of shifters or not. It seemed like they didn’t at first but then the story continued on like it was normal to have shifters here wondering the city like the group Reid had overheard about a wolf shifter working at the bar when he was trying to track down Allara.
Allara and Reid have known each other since they were children, when they became teens Reid realized they were fated mates but her father, pack Alpha, asked him to break things off with her so he could arrange for her to marry Jaime his chosen heir instead of Allara. Allara is heartbroken so leaves the pack, five years later Reid has tracked her down to ask her to come home as her father is very ill. He challenges her in a fight and if he wins she goes back and if she does he leaves her alone. Back at the pack her father dies and she has to fight to be his heir as Jaime has gone nuts and wants to take over surrounding packs. This is a must read.
“Fate of the Wolf” by Amelia Shaw is a decent, fast-paced paranormal romance that hits the usual wolf-shifter beats. The second-chance love story between Allara and Reid has good chemistry, and Allara stands out as a strong, capable heroine. The plot moves quickly, which makes it an easy read, but at times it felt a bit too rushed—especially during emotional or romantic turning points. While the storyline is familiar and doesn’t offer many surprises, it’s still entertaining if you’re looking for a short, steamy escape with a guaranteed happy ending. Not amazing, but definitely not bad either—just an okay, enjoyable read for fans of the genre.
second chance romance but very simple read. heroine runs away after her mate breaks up with her on her dad, the alphas order. now the alpha is dying and the pack is in danger of having the beta take over. so the "hero" goes to find his mate to bring her back so she can take her place as alpha. there was nothing really exciting about this story, not even the sex and that's sad. it's just your regular run of the mill shifter romance. makes me wonder about this best selling author title, I'm curious any suggestions on a different book or series I should try from this author that I don't have to pay for. 🤦🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
