Temp Jobs Can Be Murder!

Scarlett Chase is working the cushiest temp job ever—house-sitting a gorgeous luxury home for a vacationing family and taking care of their cute little dachshund.

Then she finds a body facedown in the pool, and her relaxing job turns into a nightmare. It seems that the home’s security system isn’t keeping everyone out as thoroughly as it should. And even though the family members were outside the country, their alibis may not be as solid as they appear.

Scarlett was ready to let the police figure everything out, but she gets sucked into the mystery and uncovers more crimes than she bargained for.

Murder—unlike her job—isn’t temporary.

Poisoned by the Pool is the third book in the fun and clever Temp Jobs Cozy Mystery Series.

Oh, wow!! This series just gets better and better and I am loving it. This is book three in this entertaining series and although not entirely necessary I would recommend that you start with book one and work your way through, in fact I did recommend it to my mum, it's that good. What I like is the fact that Scarlett is a temp worker, so in each book she has a different job making each book very different from the last and keeping it fresh. There is a long running mystery of what happened to cause her dad's accident but I actually like that you only learn a little bit with each book. The main mystery does get solved and with plenty of suspects it kept me guessing for a while but I did come up with answer in the end. I think this might be my favourite of Scarlett's temp jobs (and book), so far. I love the main characters and although I would say the story mainly focuses on the mystery, I did enjoy the family drama and the budding romance, as well as the mystery surrounding her dad. Wow just realised how much is going on in this story. Just a really good mystery and a great series. I can't wait for the next book.
Scarlett's next temp job is house sitting for her brothers business partners family. Giving her plenty of time between dog walks to search his house and find out if he his conning her brother. Instead she finds a body floating in the swimming pool, a body that the police chalk down to accidental drowning while drunk. Scarlett doesn't think so and calls her detective friend to share her suspicions. With the family back from holiday and the death looking more like murder he asks Scarlett to continue staying at the house to get to know the family and find any clues the police might have missed. Can Scarlett find the reason for the teenagers death? Or is the detective barking up the wrong tree?
I like the narrator and hope she sticks with the series as I can't imagine anybody else voicing Scarlett.I
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I knew when I saw the dachshund on the book cover that I was gonna love this book, but that's not the only reason. Scarlett always entertains and it's pretty clear the author's good sense of humor comes through in her main character as Scarlett narrates her adventures. Scamp was so adorable and I knew Scarlett was gonna be sad when it came time for her temp job to end, I know I'd sure be sad. She really needs to adopt a dachshund for her Dad as a support doggie. Sure, they can't jump on high beds, but as her mom pointed out, not many dogs could jump on Dad's tall bed. Maybe there's hope of a dachsie in his future! (That's really not my main takeaway, I just love when my fave dogs are included in stories.)

Wow what a crazy case that had Scarlett and her pal Det. Stringer baffled, but boy the showdown was a good one! And once Scarlett had a partner in her showdown, she was unstoppable! I absolutely loved the outcome of the entire book but was especially happy for Scarlett who'd been so sad (and if she said she'd been ghosted one more time, I was gonna need to stage an intervention with that girl LOL) after Austin hadn't contacted her. But after a new friend kinda sneakily got them together, the rest was easy. I really liked Hannah as another friend for Scarlett since she really doesn't seem to get much time anymore with Cass.

I seriously hope the author's got more adventures in mind for Scarlett (and maybe a new dachsie pal for her dad? Hmm? Ok I'll stop lol) because I feel her new story's just beginning!

Temp Jobs Can Be Murder! Cozy fun

Poisoned By The Pool is the 3rd book in the Temp Jobs Can Be Murder cozy mystery series and it is one of my favorites! These books keep getting better and better and this one is awesome! Scarlett Chase is currently working temp jobs until something that interests her comes along. In this book she is house-sitting at a really nice house with a pool and a cute dog. It is a great job until a neighbor ends up dead in the pool. Scarlett is a wonderful character with common sense, intelligence and of course curiosity. Several people are keeping secrets and Scarlett is piecing parts of the murder together which causes some trouble. On top of that, her father was in a hit and run accident and Scarlett is helping him get evidence against the guilty party. Scarlett runs into her former crush Austin Howard which really adds to the story and she is becoming friends with Hannah who is a fun new character. I loved everything about Poisoned By The Pool! The characters are well done and interesting. The cozy mystery was intriguing and kept me guessing. The ending was awesome with just the right amount of “cozy”. I asked for and received the audiobook from Author K.B. Blake. Narrator Amber Battaglia did an awesome job with the voices! With so many female voices it can be difficult but she made each seem unique and the story was very enjoyable. I can’t wait for the next book!! I received an audiobook for free and I am voluntarily leaving this review #PoisonedByThePool #TempJobsCanBeMurder

I’m lovin’ this series.
Scarlet is a no nonsense kind of girl.
She has managed to find a dead body in each book and then solved each case.
She has her parents friend as an ally who happens to be a detective.
He knows she has good intuitions and he asks her to team up with him on the sly.
Scarlet also meets new friends and runs into Austin whom she met in book one.
Little things are intertwined that also help Scarlet and her dad solve the mystery behind his accident.
You’ve got to read this series!😊

I almost always guess the killer in cozy mysteries before the end of the book. This one kept me guessing and changing my mind. The recurring characters were just as charming and fun as the previous books. The new characters were great and I could really "see" them. When the killer was revealed, it made sense. Loved it.

A great cozy, light and easy to read, with suspense and intrigue but no guts or gore. Just the way I like it. I give it 4 1/2 stars.

Great book

This was another great book in this series. I can't wait for more to develop in the new relationship with Scarlett. I am excited for her to solve this with her dad. The characters were great in this story but I was right about the killer but not right about other things. Excited for the next book!

Fun and thrilling! I loved seeing Austin show up again and resolve the misunderstanding separating them. I definitely got tricked by the false leads for the murder. I hope there's more to come, I'd love to see more of this story!

The Temp Jobs Cozy Mystery series uses a clever idea that allows our lead character to be in a completely different place for each title. The temporary jobs form the setting for each story with an almost complete cast change every time.

This negates the need to create too many annoying hangers on that become difficult to include each time and don't allow the main character some space to develop.

For those that like ongoing plot lines the author has included an over-arching storyline regarding the assault on our would be sleuths father that is interesting without spoiling the whole uniqueness of each situation.

If you like cozy mysteries then this one will tick all the right boxes
