A Scottish earl, Éamon MacLeod is also a Highlander shifter pack alpha. He has no interest in love, marriage or true mates, but his stepfather's will leaves him little choice. Marry and Englishwoman within the year or forfeit the fortune he needs to improve his estates and help his pack. The wolf shifter attends the Season with a list of requirements for his wife: she must be plain, moderately dowered and above all, practical. He finds the perfect candidate in Lady Catherine, and his wolf approves.
Labeled The Ordinary in her first season, Lady Catherine is a suffragette who abhors the loss of a woman's few legal rights to marriage. Nevertheless, she finds Éamon intriguing. Irresistible even. Until he makes his insulting proposal.
He's determined to have her for his wife and his mate. She's determined to keep her freedom unless he loves her. It's a contest of wills that even an alpha wolf shifter isn't guaranteed to win.
Note from author: Highlander's Moon was previously published as Annabelle's Courtship, but has been rewritten for the Children of the Moon world, with a different ending and other significant changes. Long time readers of that series will be happy to hear that characters from previous COTM books will be making an appearance.
I write spicy romance books that end in an HEA. Contemporary romance, historical romance, paranormal romance…I write it all. The two things my books all have in common is lots of emotion and spice. Last year, I fell in love with a new subgenre: mafia romance. Since I write what I love to read, I started a new standalone series, Syndicate Rules where you’ll meet over the top alpha heroes in the Italian and Greek mafias as well as the Irish mob. There are arranged marriages, forced marriages, enemies to lovers, stalkers, forced proximity and lots of mafia intrigue. Morally gray is my new favorite color.
I’ve been published a while and most of my 90+ books have hit the Nielson Bookscan bestseller list, a few ended up on the USA Today bestseller list and some even hit national bestseller lists in the UK and Australia. My books have been translated into numerous languages and are for sale in dozens of countries around the world. I’ve won awards and been published with most of the big houses in New York, but my greatest achievement is touching readers’ hearts. When I hear from a reader who got caught up in one of my books, I know I’m doing what I’m meant to do.
I love writing emotionally deep stories with snappy dialogue and solid plots. I’m more grateful than I’ll ever be able to express that so many readers have taken my stories into their hearts and put my books on their reread and keeper shelves.
A rewritten version of Annabelle's Courtship if I remember the blurb right. The beginning outside of the shifter stuff felt familiar but overall was a new story. Lots of characters from past books came together too neatly towards the end and sadly felt like it was lacking something genuine in one case rather than plot need. It made sense but the way it was done could've been better. Would've been nice to get heart-to-hearts with that couple and a few others but the conclusion had to be reached fast.
I absolutely love this series. Ms Monroe has that talent of bringing her readers right into her stories. Highlander’s Moon has everything you look for in a story. I really enjoyed this book as I have all the others in this series. It is a real page turner. I hope Lucy continues bringing us more Stories about the shifters. I really loved her surprise visitors too. They are some of my favorites characters. I hope we get visits from others in the future as I love hearing how they are all doing. Keep up the great reads! Looking forward to the next one. I definitely recommend reading this book even if you haven’t read any of the others.
I read very few shape shifter, and even less historical genre, romance novels, so Highlander's Moon, the 8th book in the Children of the Moon Series, was a complete surprise and absolute delight for me. I loved it! Scottish Laird and Alpha Wolf, Earl Éamon MacLeod, arrives in the midst of a London season seeking a wife. He must meet her, pay court and then marry an Englishwoman in 6 months’ time or forfeit his inheritance. He has no interest in true love but he does have several requirements she must meet: she should be older (a spinster), she will need to be plain in appearance, of a practical and biddable nature, and come with only a modest dowry. On the surface, Lady Catherine Hamilton appears to meet each of his conditions.
In reality, however, Lady Catherine is strong willed, intelligent, extremely independent, fearless to a fault, and involved in the early suffragette movement demanding women’s rights in a man’s world. She also happens to have a (secret) fortune and she is not inclined to relinquish her single status by putting herself under a husband’s control.
Éamon decides immediately that Lady Catherine is the woman he will marry. On the surface, she is perfect. Except that she meets none of his rules and his wolf recognizes and wants her as his true mate. While this old fashioned battle of the sexes is being played out, there is intrigue and danger all around and wolf pack politics that can tear the couple apart.
A super good story, well written, fun, and filled with romance and thrills.
Although I received a free copy of this book from the author, I gladly and voluntarily write my honest review here.
Lucy Monroe has done it again! I was captivated from page one. I loved Eamon and Catherine's story. Lucy took a previous book and turned it into a totally different story, while leaving some aspects of the book the same. I laughed and cried. I wanted to pop Eamon over the head a few times with some of the things that came out of his mouth. I loved the connection between these two, the banter between them as hilarious and the love scenes were scorching. I could not put this book down. A must read.
