Hydes’s mystery thriller Eyes Shout Secrets ticks all the boxes: it’s beautifully written with well-drawn characters and intriguing settings. It has a suspenseful plot and weaves together science and medicine, history and contemporary fiction, drawing the reader into a world of gut-wrenching quandaries for Bram de Jong, the intelligent and sympathetic protagonist. The finale possesses that rare combination of being unexpected and offering a satisfying resolution.
It's a read-well-past-bedtime book.
