Get the Gordian Knot Box Set, featuring all three books and 1000+ pages of aliens, war, and explosive military sci-fi action perfect for fans of Rick Partlow, Jay Allan, and David Weber.
Two civilizations clash. A rebellion grows. The fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance.
Technical Chief "Pappy" Gunther is a grizzled, burning out commando in the United Earth Armed Forces. He ponders a return to civilian life, yet feels a strong sense of belonging to his elite team. When colonists on a far-flung world request aid, a task force from several allied systems is assembled. Pappy and his crack unit are sent to investigate, and to engage a mysterious alien force from beyond.
Talks-To-His-Spear is the warrior-caste champion of a matriarchal space empire called the Regime. Leading an army of fanatical, genetically-enhanced super soldiers, he dreams of dying in battle for the glory of his Queen. However, he’s beginning to question the motives of this new campaign, and fears that he may have to compromise his own deep sense of honor in order to fulfill his tasks.
Nobody expected the two alien cultures to have so much in common, and for friendships and alliances to form alongside rivalries. However, when Pappy discovers a rebellion spanning worlds, everything changes. The growing insurrection threatens to tear the Regime—and the galaxy—apart.

This series started out really good. It continued to be very good until the third book. Then you get to the 90% mark and then you get a "What the heck just happened?" point. Luckily I am one who always finishes a book. Others may have quit reading. When you get to that point, keep reading. In today's world it is Extremely hard to come up with content that is different and unique. You will find names that are based on Native American culture, think Dances With Wolves. There is content based heavily from Battletech and Stargate. I also found references from Warhammer 40k, Terminator, Star Wars, S.T: Voyager, Alien, Babylon 5, Centipede, Avatar, and Enter the Dragon. The author pulls a classic from Star Trek, which is why you should keep reading. Overall I really enjoyed this series and will definitely give him another chance. The series is just different enough that for the most part made it fresh.
The space battles were unbelievable and the characters were out of this world. The politic were endless and so typical of earth nations but from different planets and backgrounds. The ending was soft compared to the rest of the novel but rather satisfying. Sure hope that Pappy ends up as he seemed destined.
Larger than life military characters with good guys and bad guys. I enjoyed the series as I became familiar with the characters. Many off world adventures and a small amount of unconvincing romance. I am thinking about purchasing another series from this author.
A truly enjoyed the story And what have given it 4 stars except for the Maddening number of errors.. Not sure who edited this book but they did a very poor job.
The writing in this book was stunning, with vivid descriptions and a poetic flair. However, the plot felt disjointed, jumping from one storyline to another without a clear focus. The characters were intriguing, but their development felt rushed, leaving me wanting more depth. The ending was unexpected, which was a pleasant surprise, but it didn’t quite make up for the slow middle section. A mixed bag for me.
I literally enjoyed every moment I spent reading this series. The authour provided the reader everything a great story, a flawed, but loveable protagonist and a abundance interesting colourful characters. Every character was well developed a difficult task given the scope of the books. There were twists and turns throughout the story line that kept you wanting more. A great series of books with a good story and great characters. More Please….
Enjoyed the plots and the interactions between the characters. Would have enjoyed it more if it had been more thoroughly edited. The misuse of words, especially in the last few chapters became distracting. Appeared not to have been edited at all in several places.
Maybe if I hadn’t just read a brilliant book, by an evocative author in a series I love. Then maybe. Maybe I could have read this. But there was too much telling and telling of things not critical to the storyline. More like authors drawings of building layout etc. then when we swapped to wart the F word was flung round liberally. So no on rethink I don’t think this style of book is for me.
Fun action packed story with very poinient real emotion sprinkled in. Some interesting facets of the Special Ops mind set from one old operators experience... being a true warrior is not about fighting and some how that comes through in this fiction.
This starts as a typical small unit story. Then it gets good. The action starts with the aliens, and all hell breaks loose. The series has a nice twist at the end. I recommend this series very highly.
A brilliant mix of suspense, emotion, and creativity. The characters were vivid and the plot was wonderfully intricate. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t put it down. The ending was both satisfying and surprising. It’s a masterclass in storytelling and well worth the read.
Interesting twists in a challenging alien race/species. Basic tech solutions combined with heroics by two main protagonists plus a nice set of plot lines. Enjoy
