What if a fantasy heroine solved problems with romance rather than violence?

Aurora Storm, an orphan raised by a repressive religious order, has always been curious about sex, despite her order’s teachings. When Aurora is tasked with tracking down a werewolf, she finds that he is actually Connor, a local hunter and good friend.

Determined to help Connor, she discovers a sliver of ancient romance magic that can help him control his transformation. This act of sexual liberation, along with seducing her own best friend Bellamy, puts Aurora on the path to restore the ancient Temple of Carnal Divinity, a place where all may celebrate the magic of pleasure.

Join Aurora in this monster romance fantasy series where she’ll gather a variety of monstrous lovers!

This was a fun book that dealt with breaking free from toxic purity culture driven religion and exploring sexual desires. Aurora was almost fearless in her decision making, only held back by the idea of the unknown, misplaced gratitude, and love of a friend. Her choices had dangerous consequences, but were made in good faith and with full consent. I would have loved getting to know her love interests more, but I’m assuming that will come in the sequel.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: purity culture, imprisonment, burning at stake, death of parents (when MC was infant), mass murder (historical)

Quick and dirty read just like us smutty readers like 'em.

If you haven't read any monster romance, I think this would be a good introduction. It's cute, and smutty, and hits all the right spots.

Sex magic! I'm like say less, but also say more, because I want to read it up. I love how sex positive this story is. I very much felt female empowerment and love is love while reading this book.

The FF relationship in this was a highlight. Spicy and well written; Friends to lovers. I loved that Aurora and Bellamy each had their own sex positive journey and that at their foundation they are true, supportive friends to eachother.

There is actually an interesting plot despite this being a quick read that does not skimp on the spice. I am looking forward to seeing the plot evolve even more in the next books.

I can't wait to read anything that Maya graces us with in the future of this series.

Stormrise by Maya Maitea is an FFM monster romance. It centers around an orphan named Aurora who was taken in by the church as a baby. Now Aurora is an adult and was raised by the church to think that thoughts about sexuality are wrong. But she can't hide the way she feels about her sexuality, especially when it comes to another acolyte and a werewolf!

This book was fun and easy to read. I read it in one sitting! I loved the journey that Aurora and the other main characters take to find their true selves and each other. It tackles the constant fight between religion and sexuality/identity. I wish it would have expanded some more on Aurora's family, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me. So if you're looking for a quick, fun, and spicy read, this one is for you!

**ARC received in return for honest review**

Stormrise is Maya Maitea’s first romance smutty book, after her wife convinced her to read some (thanks, M’s wife).

I really enjoyed this book, and the many twists and turns inside it.
We have Aurora, an orphan who has lived at the church for her whole life. Aurora is sex positive, and very much wants to embrace her sexuality, although the church says this is wrong. We have Connor, a very attractive man who lives in the forest with his dog, and flirts with Aurora CONSTANTLY. And we have Bellamy, Aurora’s innocent best friend. I love each of these 3 characters so much. I saw some of myself in Aurora, and I definitely wish I had some of Bellamy’s innocence.

Maya gives us twists and turns in this book, and it is so easy for time to run away with you and just to be immersed in this book, I know I was. I loved the individual journeys the characters went on, as well as the journeys they shared.

The climax of the book was great - and did make me do a double take like “is this actually happening,” and it was a superb way to get the characters where they needed to be.

I loved the ending of this book, and I cannot wait to get more! Maybe Connor or Bellamy’s POVs?

The Power of S E X

This was a very unique, interesting read. Aurora Storm has lived with the Church who serves goddess Astraea since she was found as a baby so many yrs ago. She has always felt different compared to the rest of the people their and has unique sexual desires that are looked at as “sinful and wrong.”

When Aurora is tasked with finding the Werewolf who terrorized a farm, she never expected it to be who it was. What’s more - when she questions her own faith and finds another faith that calls to exactly how she feels, a plethora of opportunities arise for her.

With the goddess of sex, Aurora is finally able to experiment her dreams and turn them into a realty. With Connor and Bellamy by her side, a new future begins. All they have to do is escape the church and all of those after them.

This story was unique. I have never read any stories by this author before. The steam was crazy, but I thought the storyline could have used a little more. I personally wasn’t a fan of all of them in a relationship together (I like all of the focus on one person), but to each their own. I am curious to see how the next book goes!

*Overall 3/5
*Heat? 5/5
*First person POV (Aurora only)
*Werewolf sex
*FMF relationship with MF, FF
*Ends on HFN with hopes to continue

“I don’t know if Connor would think of himself as my boyfriend, but I’m definitely not opposed to the idea. As long as I can have Bellamy as my girlfriend too. I should be able to have one of each, right?”

⭐️ 4.5 stars ⭐️

The sex positivity in this book was EVERYTHINGGGGG! I love it.

Aurora is involved in a church that puts emphasis on no sexual pleasure or promiscuity and she gets tired of it. She constantly feels like a part of her is being pushed down and doesn’t like it.

I loved how Aurora embraced her sexuality in the aspect of who and how she loves. She doesn’t care that she has a high sex drive and is proud of who she is and realizes the church is not where she’s meant to be. I loved seeing how she came into herself and became herself as she discovered more and more about her own personal history.

The spice is HOT. Maya does not disappoint in the spice department. I have been following Maya’s journey for a bit and am so beyond happy for her! She deserves all the love and support for her debut.

If you like sex positivity, fast paced plot, SPICE, werewolves (more monsters to come) & FF MF + FFM action - you should definitely check out Stormrise.

Thank you, Maya for the ARC ❤️ I cannot wait to see where this series goes.

This was a great debut into monster romance by Maya!

If you enjoy a fast pace plot, fast-burn, with a lot of sex positivity and throw in a werewolf, this book is for you.

Aurora is part of a church where she feels completely out of place because sexual desires are seen as sinful and wrong. Stormrise follows Aurora's two relationships with Connor, her crush who is secretly a werewolf and Bellamy, her long time best friend and also her crush. With the help from the goddess of sex, Aurora is able to finally turn her desires into a reality.

The only thing that I thought was kind of weird was that Bellamy and Connor instantly have a relationship. They didn't even really have any dialogue together to build anything. They seem to only be together because they love Aurora.

I think that Maya has a lot of potential and can't wait to read her future monster smut.

Honest ARC review: This was a really sweet and spicy beginning of a series. Aurora was found and welcomed in by the Church who gains magic from Astraea. She is working towards becoming a Priestess but she is always getting in trouble. Aurora is different from many of the other members of the church because she is very curious about sex. She is given the task of finding the werewolf that attacked livestock nearby. Aurora is successful in finding out who the beast is but she was not prepared for how close the person was to her. Connor lives near the church and helps Aurora with training. He is very flirty with her but does not pursue more. His personality is very sweet with a slight touch of wildness. Bellamy is Auroras best friend in the church. She is very innocent and at times can be a bit clueless. Nonetheless she helps Aurora as best as she can whenever she is in trouble. I really liked reading this book! I enjoyed the sexual awakening that Aurora and eventually Bellamy went through. Connor being more experienced than them brought balance as well as a bit of dominance. I am curious to see what happens next!

This book was absolutely fantastic. I loved it. The world that Maya created for her characters was so unique. The main character Aurora was a bad ass. She was witty, comfortable in her own skin, owned who she was and wasn't afraid to speak her mind with consequences be damned. Aurora's best friend Bellamy is sweet and oh so curious. I loved their friendship and love for each other. The bathtub scene 🔥🫠. Then there is Connor, Aurora's crush who has a secret of his own. He definitely has a dirty mouth on him and is figuring things out for himself. His friendship with Aurora is flirty and trusting.

This story definitely proved that being a woman is a special magic all on its own. This book is all love whether it's loveing your body, loving sex or finding love in relationships that might be considered unconventional.

A great debut into monster romance/smut.

I enjoyed the flow of the writing style and can definitely see this author’s potential in the genre. For sure going to keep an eye out for Maya’s future books.

Aurora, was left on the doorstep of a religious order. A very repressive order. She has a natural inclination to rebel. And rebel she does.

She finds that she doesn’t want to fight her feelings for her two friends, Connor and Bellamy anymore. That her feelings aren’t wrong and the religious sect just might be.

With the help of her friends and lovers, she takes on the organization that seeks to condemn and repress those that disagree with them. The way Aurora and her loves find to take them down is well…ahem…climactic.

Spice was spicy! 😮‍💨

“You’re so tight,” he growls, his mouth near my ear as he’s on top of me. “But you’ll take all of me, no matter how long it takes.”

OMG this book 🥵🥵 It was so good! It was such a cute why choose monster romance! This is definitely a great book to read if you want to start reading monster romances. I loved the sex positivity themes woven into the story with a sprinkle of sex magic. I loved Aurora and Bellamy so much! Their friends-to-lovers story was so cute, and I'm obsessed. Connor and Aurora were also so cute. And the spice?!? It was HOT! I liked how Aurora developed her relationship with each person before coming together. While this was a quick read, the plot was very developed, and the plot twist caught me off guard. I can't wait to read book two!

First of all, thank you to the author, May, for giving me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Stormrise! It's a nice monster romance novella that includes FM, FF, and FFM relationship depictions between the main character and her two love interests.

This is a great monster romance palette cleanser for me! It's short, sweet, and spicy! I especially loved the themes and elements the author explored in her writing. Elements like sexual repression, becoming comfortable with your body and sexuality, and more.

Overall, this was a quick, enjoyable read for me that I highly recommend to anyone who likes monster romance!

3.5 rounding up

This was my first time reading some werewolf smut and while it's not exactly for me, the scenes were incredibly spicy! There were also some non-wolfy scenes that really got me. I'm honestly still thinking about that first tub scene. iykyk

I also really enjoyed the main character's sass and independence. So relatable. While some of the overall story was a little repetitive, I really loved the world that was created and can't wait to experience more of it in the next book!

I definitely recommend checking this out if you enjoy some fantasy mixed with a lot of spice!

Holy bananas! You don’t want to sleep on this one 😝

What I loved most about this story was the strength Aurora possessed when everything about her life seemed to change. With the strength of her friend Connor; she discovers her carnal nature and leans into what she feels rather than what she was taught. This in tern allows her to explore her new feelings with her bestie Bellamy. The spice was deliciously decadent with a strong plot to back it up. I’m anxious to see what’s in store next for Miss Aurora and the Temple of Carnal Divinity 💕

ARC Review 💫

This was such a fun read and I flew through it in like 2 days! Overall, I loved the world building and the concept of the different rival churches and sects, and I really hope that future books explore them more. Aurora was a very entertaining character to follow, but my only gripe would be that sometimes things seemed a little too easy and convenient for her.

I would definitely recommend this book for anyone just getting into monster romance! The smut was great, the characters were lovable, and I can’t wait to see what Maya had in store for the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed this book. Aurora is on her path to find herself to the church but somethings just don’t feel right. She’s always had feelings for her best friend that weren’t just friendly. Then there’s a man from town named Conner. Find out what happens when she finds a different kind of magic that can help Conner. I can’t wait to see how the series goes!

It was definitely a hot start of the series.
We have FMC who is trying to complete her studying at church (specialized on healing and good doings), but when her and church’s morals differ vastly, what will she do? What will she choose?
What dark secrets the church hides? Will we learn more about MC’s past?

So many question, and we have some answers, but there still more to learn. Can’t wait to see what is planned for us. For some scenes although i wished them to be less intense, but overall this book was fantastic.

This is a debut novel and it was a fun read, the characters are fun, you feel for them, you know they may not belong. You question the powers that be and the things they think you need to believe and you find a way to thrive. That's what this book gives you.

It encourages you to go your own way, to be your own person, to embrace your sexuality, to embrace yourself. It is powerful. It is Spicy. It has FFM, FF and FM scenes and it's a great lil read.

Highly recommend.

I received this book as an ARC and for her first book Maya did a fantastic job! Aurora’s storyline was mysterious and her character was charming. Connor was adorable and yummy all wrapped up in a werewolf. The twists and turns in the story were well written and the plot kept me wanting to read. And the smut?!?! Yes please! I can’t wait for the next book!

I Got this book as an Arc from the wonderful Maya.

What if a fantasy heroine solved problems with love and sex rather than violence?

It is an interesting enough story with a lot of world building. I feel like this first story sets up the series nicely and I am excited to see what Maya does in her next books.

A Fun Read

This is an enjoyable read that manages to be light and humourous despite some high stakes events. Definitely on the monster smut side, with a side helping of some serious criticism of patriarchy/purity culture. It does a nice job of resolving the immediate issue while leaving the reader wanting more. Definitely worth checking out!

This is a very good book it’s paranormal with a twist why choose. I am into why choose books a lot as well as shifters and paranormal this book really just contain everything that I enjoy to read it’s not dark but it’s not a light book either. The female main character doesn’t fill she belongs where she is currently and this is just a journey of finding out why that is as well as chasing her desires along the way.
