Toy's Story: Acquisition of a Sex Toy

Rate this book
Online relationships are difficult at the best... The distance and the lack of touch make them hard to maintain and the only way they are successful is with good communication. But what happens when the communications are intentionally misleading even if they are not meant to be harmful? David and Doreen used the Internet to start a romance that centered on her fantasy to kneel at his feet as a slave. When her real life interfered with her Internet fantasy life she left the fantasy behind. But when the fantasy is who you are it becomes overpowering. Doreen could not stop wishing for the fantasy that was out of reach. When she could no longer deny the powerful fantasy she begged David, her online Master, to rescue her from her vanilla life. He complied, fulfi lling her fantasies in ways that she had not dared to consider. But when fantasies become realities the realities have consequences. For David and Doreen the consequences were deeper and farther reaching than either could have imagined.

A bit wordy, so I skimmed areas. A man's perspectie on BDSM that included a kidnapping, torture, and rape. If you can handle hardcore sex scenes and a more in-depth look at BDSM, then give it a try. I think you'll like the ending.

Very mixed feelings on this one. The story was compelling and the characters well-drawn. Some parts were very dark and difficult to read. That being said, the overall feel was not as dark because you are aware of the hero's motivations. In between doing bad things, the hero weeps pretty much continuously and feels really, really bad about it.

I suppose my main objection was that book was horribly repetitious. For example, he mentions that the house he bought has 150 acres at least four times. The actual story of buying the house and what a great deal it was is repeated even more frequently. You can imagine how many times he belabors more important points, such as the characters' feelings. The author mentions in the afterword that he edited the book several times and each time it almost doubled in size. In my opinion, he would have benefited from an editing pass where he took out half of the words instead.

I'm done reading Toys Story for the fourth time and I love it; this is a story that stays with me long after I've read the last page and returned it to its shelf. David and Doreen really come to life in the story and I find myself at times alternately chastising and praising them throughout the story. Theirs is a complex and at times trying situation and relationship that gives the reader a glimpse of a different and some might say taboo lifestyle. I'm greatly anticipating the sequel to Toys Story and hoping that we find out what happens with David and Doreen.

I really enjoy Toy's Story, still waiting for word on the next book, until then I'll continue to re-visit David and Doreen's story; I liked how the author left the story open, and said that David and Doreen's story wasn't done yet, I'm looking forward to the next book in the series with great anticipation. I like how he made David an inexperienced Dom, I've noticed in a lot of stories the Dom(me)s are usually very experienced, as are the submissives. I would recommend this story to my friends who might have an interest in reading D/s stories.

I really liked Toys Story, it was a first for me but now I'm hooked on erotic fiction; the story pulled me from the start and I can't wait for the next book.
