Aiden allows his best friend to talk him into a bachelor auction, even though he’s sure no one will bid on him. Tate has always been there for him, and Aiden knows it’s way past time he started showing his friend the same support. Deafening silence fills the room when Aiden steps onto the stage, but then a voice rings out from the back.
Tate can’t help smiling at the look of shock on Aiden’s face, but he knows he’s done a good job of hiding his feelings over the years. Far too good a job. Now, he can’t stay silent any longer. When another bidder steps in, Tate refuses to back down. He knows he can win this auction, and once he does, he’s got plans to win his best friend’s heart.
This was cute best friends to lovers story. I love how Tate didn’t rush Aiden while he was coming to terms with his sexuality. There was a sweet balance of patience and understanding. While the relationship progressed relatively fast (it is a short story) it did not feel rushed at all and was well-paced! Aiden was able to comfortably explore his sexuality and have his first proper sexual experience with Tate. I loved how patient and sweet Tate was towards his Aiden. He understood due to Aiden’s strict religious upbringing, he could not be comfortable with his sexuality, and his best friend was in love with him immediately. He allowed him to come to terms and become comfortable with the situation rather than jumping in and forcing him. The sex scenes were so sweet and sexy. I wonder if we’ll get a story with David and Gerard. Overall another lovely work by Victoria Vallo, and easy 5 stars as always! It was a fun and sweet read.
This was my first contemporary romance read by this author and the first book I read in this series. While this is technically book number four in the More than Friends series, you can read it as a stand-alone.
It had it's (rare) moments, but mostly reading this book was like reading an old grocery list. While I empathized with the characters situation, I just couldn't really connect with them. I much prefer the author's book Ashwood.
