Stanzi became a wolf against her will, she was then banished from her pack because she had a darkness inside that needed to hunt and kill. She’s slow to form relationships with her vampire friends Rogue and Hex, and alpha Ash because of this. When a dragon walks into her bar she learns they are “twin flames”, a unique concept I haven’t read elsewhere. Basically once they sleep together they are bonded to push and pull against each other until they either kill each other or are born again.
What follows is a few too many battles, repetition of the twin flame conflict and one too many stand offs and kidnappings. There’s bar fights, relationship trials, family conflicts and some really hot sex including primal chase, biting, bleeding and scratching. I read till the end which is hard for a 4 book series.
Stanzi- the dark flame, started out strong but became a tad annoying, was a bit selfish and a huge part of the problem because she only thought about what she wanted. My least favorite mc.
Ash- the Alpha, sweet, devoted, troubled by his past but 🔥 in the bedroom. He’s the stable rock.
Rogue- the vampire coworker and friend who shares in the darkness, is devoted like Ash and all around great guy. The sex is on fire when he loses control.
Hex- the powerful 100 year old vampire with black magic and a past. He’s a slow build but will do anything for Stanzi including saving her ass on multiple occasions
Arsen- the dragon and light flame, he rejected the bond but comes to his senses quickly when he realizes they need each other. Unfortunately Stanzi is a numwit and takes forever to get with the program. Arsen is crazy protective and let’s his dragon out quite a bit.
Like every series, there’s some plot holes (see my Notes), we’re left with some unanswered questions, but we get a short term epilogue where all is well in the world. A solid series once you get past the repetition and I’d recommend a read at least once.
