In America, we are just beginning we have to take stock of our resources, exploring our cultural past. Very romantic book. Case studies with various immigrants and blacks, one from Mexico. Lupe Valdez’ educational experience, comparing it to the Mexican ideal that education was frivolous and not necessary.

Lupe married a gringa, he went for his PH.D. and they lived happily ever after.

Adamic argues that we all came from somewhere else. He wants to make America safe for democracy.
