The Savior’s Book Café Story in Another World at five volumes offers a pleasant romance with minimal commitment, but it misses opportunities for deeper world-building and character development. Still, if you seek a quick read with a conclusive ending, it’s worth considering.

Overall, I would give the series a rating of 3.5 stars.

This was such a sugary sweet ending to the series. Just pure, fun fluffiness.

Had to drop due to the blatant racism. I’m so tired of the “Middle East are the villains” trope…

'Oh good, it's finally over.' Should not be my thoughts on a series ending, but here we are. Truth be told, I have not particularly enjoyed this series for a number of volumes now; it went downhill faster than a rolling stone, but because I had the tomfoolery of ordering all five of the volumes, I read it to get my money's worth.

Lol, I still don't think I got my money's worth, and if there was ever a manga I've come across that I would discourage people from buying it's this. At almost $17 a book there is a lot left to be desired here. The art is weak, the characters are shallow, and the story is paper thin, all in a rather scant sized number of pages for each volume.

My biggest gripe with this series is that its two selling points are non-existent. This is neither a series depicting an adult woman in her thirties, nor is it about the character's love of reading and books. Tsukina acts more like a teen than an adult, and for someone supposedly in her thirties, she has very little opinions of her own (which, lbr, would still be a problem if she was actually a teen too). Tsukina is just there in her own story, and it's boring. Ffs, this lady doesn't even have a mind of her own to pick out her own wedding dress, and leaves the decision to her fiancé *after* he tells her he's not even wearing anything new to their wedding, just his dress uniform. Cut to a scene where she's immediately trying on a dress too tight. Yeah.

Tsukina claims that Othell is her home now and she's made a life here, but has she really? We have only ever seen her interact with the two other saviours, and Il and his guards. Her world exists in Il's bubble only. When she does make a new friend outside of these groups, we get a scene with Il rather rudely asking where the person, Bran, is from all while Bran is actually a paying customer of Tsukina's shop. Nice for business there, buddy. Ofc, we are expected to ignore how red flag-y this is from Il, because *gasp!* Bran IS bad. But for me, it's the unintentionally bad scenes like this that only highlight that Tsukina's life here is actually kinda bleak. We see her make two friends outside of Il and his guards, and both are met with suspicion from Il. Her shop is only ever frequented by Il and his guards, and Bran, the book peddler and patron. For this world being her home, she sure has done very little to immerse herself in it, and I find it depressing.

As for the story, get ready for lots of build up that literally leads to nothing. Any drama or threat or risk is neatly solved and fixed in a few short panels that there is no point caring about the story or characters at all. The breakneck speed of its pacing does not help with this either. It's very hard to invest in a story that doesn't know how to deal with conflict and poofs it away. Why bother adding any of this drama and plot at all?

Finally, it's the end, and God shows up to congratulate Tsukina on a job well done, because her *just existing* in the world was exactly what the world needed! The end. Massive eyeroll. This ending works only if we got an actual character out of Tsukina, but we did not.

This series was a huge let down, and is getting dumped in the donation bin bc I do not want to own it.

Wedding bells and series finales are in the air as Tsukina and Il get set for their pending nuptials. A savior’s work is never done, however, and a last threat looms before them that could spell the end of everything. So why doesn’t anybody seem to care?

I think it’s smart of this series to get while the getting’s good. As I’ve noted, we didn’t need the extra stories we got after the first two volumes, but they were pretty darn good. And here we come in for a victory lap that’s… pretty darn good.

A lot of this volume centres on Tsukina’s relationship with the mysterious Bran, whose affable nature should make anybody suspicious of their moral fibre (sorry, not sorry). I like that rather than everybody being just that gullible, there’s a really valid reason.

Also, props to Bran’s design - they have a nebulous gender and their look is both masculine enough and feminine enough to look like either if you squint, but it still has that beautiful manga aesthetic at the same time.

I don’t think it’s spoiling things to say that a plot is brewing amidst the wedding, but the way it plays out is pretty surprising. While it might disappoint those who expected a typically action-packed climax, I kind of like how it just clears the deck real fast and still comes from a place based onTsukina’s efforts.

Because this has always been Tsukina’s story and about her making the best of her situation by living her best life in this world and loving the people and customs of it. Her final chat with God is a really nice affirmation of how strong she truly was this whole time, even without the magic she wields.

Yeah, it’s a little schmaltzy, but it’s a love story, go figure. I actually liked how chaste this whole thing is, just because Il and Tsukina would clearly rather read than just about anything else and seeing them get married and hang out with books is about as perfect an end as you’d imagine for them.

Sure, it’s imperfect. Like I said, that final complication wraps up super fast, even with all the groundwork laid for it in the first parts of the volume. There’s still lots of chatter and fun to be had, but it definitely quickens the pace, although less sharply than many finales.

And I’m pleased that Bran gets their due and definitely has been a presence in the series, but wasn’t an evil ‘I was there the whole time’ mastermind. No, they’ve got a strong arc that also reinforces just how much Il trusts Tsukina in a nice way.

If you have followed our savior this whole way, there’s nothing here to make you regret that choice. The story was really good through the whole thing and this seems like the right spot to let it go without becoming stale. Do it right, then leave.

4 stars - early volumes were better, of course, so that does leave us at the four stars, but a strong recommend for the series overall. I mean, don’t you want to know what God sends as a wedding present?

This was a very satisfying ending to this series!

Though in honesty, I was pretty nervous at first! LOL! With this cover, I was here ultimately to see our leads married and happy and thought that would happen early on, but I was pretty surprised with things related to Bran and HOW those things unfolded! I fully expected this volume to be super fluffy and it was not quite that, so I was a little bummed in that regard (though it was still good!), but the ending was perfection! It was everything I had hoped it would be and appreciated the bonus short story as it gave a little more to what happened AFTER the ending.

But backing up, I did like how the story wrapped up concerning Bran! I especially liked how it really never mattered about what Bran's gender was and it was just Tsukina's friendship with them. Their friendship was special and I was glad to see that it was an important theme/focus all the way to the end.

I was also surprisingly touched by Tsukina and "God's" conversation. It honestly hit me really hard how far Tsukina has come, how she has changed since being in this world, and just how happy she is.

Overall, this was a very fun and enjoyable series! I loved many many elements and am very happy I was finally able to read it! Would recommend it if you're looking for a short isekai that has low action, sweet romance, and fun leads that absolutely LOVE reading!

I think this manga could really work as a 12 episode anime. Its isekai, and just a wholesome fun read. I definitely enjoyed the five volumes, and I'm also satisfied with the ending. This could really be recommended as a short, sweet isekai read💕

There's racism/islamophobia in chapter 24 (and in 25, briefly).

Other than that, it was good. There's Non-Binary representation.

Pretty chill and cute story.

Most of all, I love that they're just meant for each other, they fit each other so well, both being bookworms who can read in peace and quiet in each other's presence, without needing to talk to fill the silence. They make such a perfect couple.

I'd love to open a book café as a retirement plan.

such a lovely ending to the series.

after volume one the whole story felt a bit rushed but it’s fun, cute and cozy nonetheless. i love the world it’s set in and its magic system, but if you’re looking for a fantasy series with high stakes and a “slow burn” love story (it lacked some development), this is not for you.

i think the first two volumes were my favourite

Overall: 5 stars.

Another amazing volume and great finale of this delightful little series. Our heroine, Tsukina, saves the day and gets her fairytale wedding and HEA. Everything wraps up with a neat little bow, and there's plenty of heartwarming and adorable moments between Tsukina and the hero, Il.

There's not a lot of depth of character or plot here, but with a short 5 volume series, there's not a lot I'd expect.

This is the perfect cozy, cottagecore fantasy manga with a female lead, and if you're curious about manga and haven't tried any but like the cozy fantasy genre, absolutely give this a go.

The art is pretty, the main couple is adorable, and there's lots of books and food. What's not to love?

I like the couple in this manga just fine, they're cute. My disappointment in this series is mainly that I love the premise and I wish there was way more done/it was done better. Everything feels slightly hollow, with the structure of a good plot but nothing filling it in. Overall, a short sweet series that was mediocre.

Not as good as I hoped

So... I was kind of excited for this one..and definitely expecting a lot of the final book in Tsukina's courtship with Il. But instead of an exciting, engaging plot with a beautiful wedding as the crowning piece, this book has Bran. A character who seems to be made purely for political purposes and furthering an agenda instead of a story. Like... I don't want to spoil too much for someone who may actually like it, but both Bran as a character and his final play were really... Superficial. His character feels flat and boring, like the author pulled from an idea of a person instead of a real person. The ending was also really anticlimactic. I was expecting excitement. Not... Explosion and suddenly everything's fine. That was so lame.

sigh, yet another series that uses the middle east as villain blueprint 🙄 get a fucking grip, honestly.

not to mention, the way this series can’t seem to resolve any of their conflicts in a well-thought-out manner, like how many times can the overpowered saviour w her insane magical ability and insane big brain “save the realm” from superficial issues that wouldn’t even exist if a certain meddling god just stopped putting saviours in the country in the first place??? like seriously, that’s a problem of your own making 🤨

after by anna todd had a better plot than this 😐

What a beautiful end to the series! 🥹💗 Tsukina and IL are finally married in front of all their friends and family, and all is well in the land of Othel~

I can see myself coming back to reread this series over and over again in the future - whenever I need a comforting pick me up!

This series would honestly be perfect as a short animated isekai series someday~ It's so fluffy and heart-warming ✨

This series should have stopped at volume 2. The first 2 volumes were great and it even had a satisfactory ending. The next 3 volumes just felt like filler with the last volume being a mess (excluding the wedding bit).

"The joy of these quiet days forever."

With Tsukina's wedding to Knight captain Il on the near horizon, her secret as being a savior is safe. But a mysterious regular at Tsukina's café is forced to make a decision that could out Tsukina as the Savior, end her quite life, and possibly destroy the entire kingdom of Othel. Will the café regular choose their loyalty to an oppressive warring Kingdom, or their friendship to the kind owner of a book café...

I wish this series could have went on forever! Everything about it, the action, the beautiful scenes, the drama, all of it felt so comforting. When during a major life and death battle a couple of volumes back, there was an air about this series that makes you feel everything will be all right. Granted that may be because the majority of the story is set in Tsukina's book café and as an avid book lover, I am always calmest when books are around.

Also, it was really cool there was a non-binary/genderless character! I liked seeing the diversity in a fantasy book like this, and it wasn't dwelled upon, just stated as a slight curiosity, then dismissed because it didn't matter what gender they were, they were a nice person. Also, all of the scenic panels and gentle art was beautiful, adding to the peaceful atmosphere.

And the ending, oh! I am so glad the series ended how it did, I want to gush and describe every heartstring-tugging, gorgeous art-filled moment, but I dare not spoil it for any readers. This story is truly something you must experience yourself.

The Saviors Book Café Story in Another World is only 5 volumes long and I implore you to give this a shot. Even if you don't think it will be your thing, I can guarantee it'll either become one of your favorites, or at least a good read.

This was a very sweet story and really surprised me with how "cozy" it was. In five volumes, Izumi told three stories that did not turn to battle or epic quests but little moments of character-focused importance. The final arc ended with the main event happening all but off screen, allowing Izumi to focus on the quality of Tsukina's life and how her calm love of good things like reading and food changed people's hearts. In this way, the series sticks to its quiet roots and opening. Tsukina's life ends up being not just happy for her, but something the reader is led to love as well (at least I certainly envy the quiet of her life!)

This was a fun, cozy little story. It’s slower paced and the romance, while cute, is a bit lukewarm. I love that the entire series is only 5 volumes. Since this is a shorter series, I wasn’t surprised that the story lacks world-building, but I read this for the “bookworm turned reluctant hero” vibes. My only complaint is that I wanted more bookish-references in the story. I was expected much more because of the title. Still cute and would recommend the series if you are looking for a short and sweet manga series.

I’m sorry…
To my dear friend who very enthusiastically recommended me this series which I took too long to get through. (Three months for only five volumes!?)

I have thoughts.
None are good.

This was an objectively bad manga.
When I finished the fifth and last volume my immediate thought was: “thank god it’s done.”

It was boring, racist (!!) and it did not deliver even one of the main two things it was supposed to:

1. The main character is supposed to be a 30-year-old adult but she acts in a way that is not fully acceptable from even a teenager! She has no opinions of her own, whatsoever; and she doesn’t do anything and in the end is LITERALLY rewarded for “just being there”.

2. It was supposed to be a fantasy book about a woman running a book café, however, this promise is merely a setting (literally, only the background in the panels) and it’s instantly turned into a sickening romance which I loathed… with every bit of my soul.

I’m just not sure why I made myself suffer through this series and I’m so glad that some people are finding comfort and happiness in it; but it wasn’t for me, unfortunately.

This final volume was a perfect conclusion to a lovely and comforting series. All of the little plot hints that were scattered about the first four volumes finally come to light in this thrilling finale. Tsukina and Il’s wedding also takes place, and it’s so wonderful to see these awkward little bookworms finally having their happily ever after. I really loved this little series and I’m sad it’s over so soon.
