For over 15 years, Mistress Chloe has been Queen of London's fetish scene. As a professional dominatrix, she has seen it all - famous footballers, pop stars and politicians have sought out her services, and no sexual deviation surprises her. Yet Chloe was a shy adolescent, who only found her vocation when her then-boyfriend took her to a fetish party in 1985. Since then, she became submerged in an underworld that most of us don't even know exists and has risen to the top of her profession. Witty, intelligent and outrageous, Mistress Chloe's memoirs are an eye-opening insight into what really goes on in a dominatrix's dungeon. If you've ever wondered how to keep mind and soul togther when there's a cross-dressing dwarf in your living room, this book is for you.
I read this book a long time ago, it must have been the early 2000's. It was in the library in the biographies section, and it was the picture on the cover that caught my attention! It's a really good read, great fun, dealing with femdom in a light hearted manner. Maybe I'll seek out a secondhand copy online and re-read it one day.
I am not one to fall in love with the hero to any story. I do often find myself wanting to be best of friends with the main female of most books. Claire was certainly one of the ones I adore. I could never be a dominatrix and honestly that part wasn't why I read the book. I like to know why people choose to do what they do and the path that led them to it. I never envisioned this book causing me to laugh as much as it did.
I certainly didn't think it would end up a love story.
Dominatrix A Memoir, The Making Of Mistress Chloe by Claire Mansfield.
Well it does exactly what you would expect from the title as Claire recalls all the things that led her to becoming an Dominatrix, rather than a punk rocker, travel girl on the radio or advertising exec. Very funny in parts and very believable as the clubs she mentions that I've been to are portrayed very accurately. She also ran the David Bowie fan Club Subterraneans for a while. Good fun holiday reading.
Marginally better than a couple of other dom books ive read of late but only by a short head. my own experience of the mistress dungeon scene is exciting and eye wateringly painful yet fun with deep meaningful relationship between mistress and slave and all sorts of dichotomies and anomalies within the relationships that build. none of these books seem to "get" it. maybe i am lucky to have visited an excellent mistress for many years, mistress kimberley in holborn of central london
Ok I have to stop filling in my book list to critique this one. This had to be the most boring book I have ever read. And please be assured I've read a lot of books. I was on bedrest for a week and the only books I hadn't read were the encyclopedias. This book beat even them on my boredom meter.
I don't know why I bought this book in the first place when it's not my cup of tea. The curiosity got the best of me. After 30 or so pages in I wasn't into it. The kinky talk was annoying. Just not the book for me. Back to the thrift store it goes!
