A year after the battle to save the Spirit Realm and restore the natural order, Throldon is finally rebuilding. But while everyone else moves on with their lives, Fae remains trapped in the day she gave her powers — and her life — to defeat a broken god.
When the fledgling Council of the Races receives news that threatens their fragile peace, and Fae finds herself surrounded by strangers, she must find a way to reclaim her magic, or risk losing everything… and more.
Far to the south, deep in the bowels of the Brotherhood’s Sanctum, Jade’s life is ruled by blood. Hers, and that of the others held captive there. When the Brotherhood’s true plans are revealed, she must do whatever it takes to free them all. Even if it kills her.
An army marches. The earth trembles. And they are all running out of time.
This picks up a year after the events in Spiritchild end. We go back to the same characters we ended with and I immediately felt sad because of something which I was hoping for at the end of book one, wasn't happening. It did absolutely feel like something that probably would happen in real life. I loved the interactions between the characters.
After revisiting the characters from book one, the story really picks up and we get more world building, more magic and a ton of fun new characters. I was really gutted when in the end one of my favourite characters actually had a fate worse than what I felt at the start of the book. All in all, this was a great sequel to Spiritchild and it's a fun and quick read.
This book was great. An epic fantasy tracking many different characters in a race against time. I really enjoyed finding out more about the world after Spiritchild, and the addition of Jade to Fae’s story is wonderful. The magic system works wonderfully and builds on the groundwork of the first book for something unique and fascinating. I hope there will be more! 5 stars, would recommend and read again!
Earthchild picks up a year after Spiritchild, we get the same characters and some new ones, more world building, more magic and more dragons!
I really enjoyed finding out more about the world, and learning lots more about the magic system and how it can be used. It made the story flow really well and I especially loved Fae's character development in this one, she is struggling in the beginning and has to deal with the aftermaths of book one, I particular loved how she interacts with the new characters and how she deals with the twists throughout. There's a new romance too which I was all for.
Overall I really enjoyed everything about this series, its a great fantasy series that will keep you hooked all the way through.
