Woods Ranch #3

His Accidental Cowboy

Rate this book
An experienced Texas ranch hand reluctantly falls for his much younger, very accident-prone coworker in this gay cowboy romance from acclaimed author A.M. Arthur.

Wyatt Gibson is in Texas looking for answers about his past. When he talks his way into a job at Woods Ranch, he never imagines that the hot cowboy he (almost) slept with the night before not only works there, but is the one showing him the ropes.

As a rustler at the ranch, Jackson Summer handles all sorts of things: mucking, herding, grooming, riding—and minding his own damn business. A lifetime of hurt will do that to a guy. What he never imagines handling is the greenest cowboy to ever step foot in Weston, Texas.

Jackson is determined to keep his heart safe—and falling for a hot young thing like Wyatt is definitely not safe. Especially because Jackson knows Wyatt is keeping a secret…one that he can’t quite put his finger on but that just might change life at Woods Ranch forever.

Thanks to Netgalley and Carina Press for gifting me an early copy. Below you'll find my honest review.

I'm really enjoying the Woods Ranch spinoff of Clean Slate Ranch, and this one was no exception. There's an age gap in this one, but they both seem to fit each other so it's not as big of a deal. There's a lot of history that causes issues and drama in this one, both their individual trauma sneaking up on them, and the actual history of Wyatt's parentage.

Mostly, I loved Jackson's sexy dominant but not abusive in any way gravitas. I absolutely would. LOL!

Not required to read the rest of the series, but does spoil some of the previous books, so up to you, but definitely recommended for MM and cowboy romance fans.

Both main characters, Jackson & Wyatt, come from very traumatic backgrounds and both bring a lot of baggage to the table. Then there's the fact that Wyatt also comes with additional secrets that could impact or even destroy his newfound relationship with Jackson and the rest of the Woods Ranch family.

I enjoyed this steamy and interesting story, but there were parts I wanted more of, particularly once those secrets had been revealed. I have to say that while the crisis was foreshadowed, it was a bit "over the top".

These three books should be read in order. It's always a special treat to meet characters from the first two books again and catch up with where they are in their relationships and lives in general. There's a little surprise for us here also. Oh...and "watching" Wyatt try to mount a horse for the first time was hilarious.

3.5*

Like the others in this series, there was just something that stopped me rating it higher, here it was a feeling of incompleteness about the major plot line involving Wyatt's search for his biological father.

I won't give any spoilers away but, for me, I didn't really feel like I got the whys behind what happened.

So, for most of the story I was waiting for an explanation that never came, or in a way which helped me to understand the rationale for it.

Anyways, the romance itself between Jackson and Wyatt is actually pretty sweet and goes a long way to making up the majority of what I liked about this book.

The big age gap between them doesn't ever really feel like it, because Wyatt's fairly mature in his approach to wanting to explore his sexuality and being involved with someone.

Jackson's past (and what is it with most of the characters in this series that they've had some level of trauma?! it's become less effective each time because I feel like oh, here we go again about it) means he's slow to commit and trust, which helps the friendship develop alongside the sexual side of their relationship.

Overall though, the plot just felt like it dragged on a bit too long to make the reveal as effective as it could have been. We're in Wyatt's head hearing him go over the same reasons for why he's not telling Jackson why he's really at the Woods Ranch and it ends up being repetitive.

And, talking of heads, we also get Brand's POV quite a few times in this book and the head jumping isn't clearly marked (something I've been critical of from this author's work before) so you're not always sure just who's thoughts you're reading!

Having said all of the above, this one is definitely my favourite out of the series so far. I'm not sure if there will be any more from Woods Ranch, there aren't really any people left hanging around unless A.M. goes back and tries to do a redemption for the former Sheriff of book two.

Either way, overall I definitely preferred the Clean Slate series as a whole.

DNF at p60

I should have quit on page 1 when a Texas cattle rancher said a 30-40 minute drive was “a long way from home.” But I did not. Five chapters in and I’m bouncing off the characters/world/writing style.

**Thank you NetGalley and Carina Press for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

3.5 ⭐

This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. There's mention of past events from previous books but nothing too relevant to the story. I didn't read those books and it wasn't hard to catch up with the side characters and their relationships.

It was a good story. Well written and with barely any faults. I loved the relationship between the MCs. The power balance, the chemistry, and the communication were all chef's kiss 👌🏻. I thought the 20 years of age gap would bother me a little bit more, but that wasn't the case.

This is a new to me author but I'll be checking more of their work because I related with their writing style. The only thing that annoyed me was the change of PV without warning. In the beginning, I was surprised when a side character started narrating 😂. It took me a minute to realize who it was. Then, I got used to it and it wasn't too chafing.

The reason for my 3.5 stars was the conflict at the end. I found it excessive. I suppose it's associated with the next book of the series because the details weren't explained after all the drama. I don't enjoy those "action" scenes in romance novels when one of them ends up in the hospital, and that sad moment solves all the relationship problems. It wasn't like that in this one but it was too close for my liking.

I loved the premise of this story, it was so promising, however, I did find it a little slow. As I was reading, I just wanted to speed things along. I could understand Wyatt's reluctance initially to speak to those involved about his suspicions, but couldn't understand why he took so long to reveal the whys and wherefores to those involved. Also, Jackson, wound me up somewhat, I know he'd have a tough time of it, but I felt he was a little sanctimonious where Wyatt was concerned, and lacking in understanding. He seemed to forget how very young Wyatt was! Still, the romance between Jackson and Wyatt was sweet, I enjoyed watching their friendship grow, before their romance developed. The bones of the story were good, but I found it repetitive in places. It just needed tidying up in places.

Book three of a series. I didn’t read the first two. You don’t need to either but there were previous characters from the previous books, Though now I may go back to reading them.

A love story and a quest to find his biological father Wyatt, learned to be a cowboy and figure out if his father was worthy of knowing him. In doing so he learned so much about himself, his father and his love interest. Overall, it was cute story.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my review.

The third book in a spin off series involving troubled, damaged cowboys continues to build Woods Ranch as a place of safety and found family.

Brand is even given a viewpoint, even though the romance is between his ex-friends-with-benefits buddy Jackson and a much younger wannabe cowboy Wilson, eer, I mean Wyatt. This pair, opposites in many ways (age difference, experienced v innocence, cynical and grumpy v sunshiny optimism) find their attraction stronger than their work situation and begin an intro-to-mild-kinky fun times, while both keeping secrets.

We all know that secrets will ultimately test any relationship, and the climax is that, but as well, Arthur throws in a surprising (and out-of-left-field) dangerous situation involving an unhinged unpredictable person, who overtakes the drama of Wyatt's big reveal. It isn't a bad intervention, and in fact, it fits in completely with other books in this series, it just possibly isn't necessary. There is already enough going on.

Halfway through there is an introduction to a new character, and although it's a tiny moment, I hope it's the tease of the next book in the series.

Thanks to Carina publishers and Netgalley for advanced copy. His Accidental Cowboy will be out on June 27.

So I should definitely preface this entire review by saying that secret baby books are NOT my jam. Like the opposite of my favorite in fact. I'm also not a fan of dad's-best-friend books or age gap as a rule. Like ten year age gap - I can handle - but he's twice his age gap - not as much. So - just know in reading this book you are getting in to BOTH tropes. Sheesh. Also - my review may be biased by my inherit non-favoritism of those two tropes.

BUT I do LOVE AM Arthur - so maybe that offsets it all? Overall - this wasn't my favorite of the series - but it is well written and highly emotional. I do love grumpy Jackson and have since we first met him. We learn so many unexpected things about him in this book as well. He really became a very well-rounded character. Every action he takes in this story truly fits his character and background. I loved how careful he was with Wyatt and really how brave he was. Even when we reached the point of Jackson finding out the truth about Wyatt - I felt like the way both of them handled it was really well done.

Wyatt is - very young - and acts fully within that age range character wise. But he really is good for Jackson - despite the age difference. He brings some sunshine into Jackson's life that was very much needed.

Overall - this is definitely a good read and I can't wait for more from the Woods Ranch crew and family.

TW - Parental death, parental abandonment, adoption, sex work, and sexual assault (off page).

This should technically count as DNF (kind of three stars).

I don't like age-gap romance. But I can deal with it. I don't like "twice your age" even less, but I wasn't that bothered by the twenty years age difference. Only when I thought about it. These things aren't as obvious on paper, ya know. I did mind Jackson being angry the 20-year-old guy he basically picked up at the bar gave him a fake name. In fact, I was flabbergasted. What a nice word and it is a very good word for my feelings. I was even more flabbergasted when he was angry about not being told he thinks Brant is his biological father. In fact, this just didn't compute. At all.

Now, I am an honest person. I never saw a point in lying and to be honest, pun actually not intended, my parents also have something to do with the fact. I like the truth. I can avoid some hard and harsh facts in my life but I have a huge problem telling even like a "necessary" lie. Because I would usually argue it's not necessary and when I do lie once in a blue moon, I do it by telling the truth. Yes, it still works.

I am saying because having said that, I believe that lying means saying something you know is not true. Lie by omission is not something I believe in - I don't consider it lying to keep something from someone. It would have to be something super huge and important and something the person is supposed to know. Like knowing someone you care about is sick, we're talking cancer, not flu here, but not telling them or not admitting how serious it is or something. What are you owned, really? That's the question. Why would the guy who "abandoned" a kid be owned the truth when said kid, grieving and looking to spread his gay wings, comes around and doesn't confront him with his suspicions as soon as he sees him. I am so, so confused why the guy, older guy (so he should know better, be more mature) thinks HE is owned the truth. Like, can anybody explain that? Preferably in small words so it has a chance to actually make sense??

I could understand people involved, both guys, basically, being hurt the kid didn't trust them. Like "I was nice to you, I didn't give you a reason to think badly of me so why didn't you confess when you found out I am not the bad guy". Same goes for the random "token tough chick" character. Even then, he told them after around a month. A month!! How is that bad timing??? Why is any waiting time bad instead of reasonable??? Why is this an issue in the first place??? And, pray tell, how is "I came here to find my biological father" considered LYING??? Dude, he knew you for one month. And you want him to bare his soul to you?? I had longer relationships with my potato chips and they didn't ask for my social security number and autobiography even after everything we've been through. (And you go on and on and ON about this but don't really care you slept with the kid's father, really????)

Is it the introvert thing? I like my privacy and I am careful about what I tell people around me. Are extroverts supposed to tell each other everything? Including personal details that are NONE of THEIR Fing business??

Angry? Who, me? More like frustrated I guess. I detest irrational behaviour in characters. As in, I am sick of characters acting stupid and this felt so, so stupid. It was nice, pretty boring but not bad book until this issue took all my emotional capacity and I just can't recommend this... this nonsense.

HIS ACCIDENTAL COWBOY is the third installment in the Woods Ranch series. It can be read as standalone without issue but as always, it's better to read in the order that the author intended.

Jackson is content in his life. Living alone at a motel with Dog and working at Woods Ranch. He’s not in a relationship but gets what he needs from a bar outside of town and protects his heart. When he sees the tall red head that's never been in the bar before, he's interested – until he finds out the red head is only 20. But he does settle for conversation with the man. What he never expected was walking into the barn the next day and looking at the man from last night.

Wyatt couldn't be happier to see the gruff cowboy from the bar. But Wyatt can't get involved with Jackson; he is looking for the truth that no one in his family will tell him. After research, he finds himself at Woods Ranch at the perfect time when they are looking for a ranch hand. Brand agrees to give Wyatt an eight-week trial. Wyatt admits he's new to this world, but it's something he wants and with Jackson as his mentor, he's something Wyatt really wants too.

I loved seeing Jackson open himself to Wyatt and their exchange of power. Wyatt is 20 years younger than Jackson but he's everything Jackson needs. The age gap isn't even an issue or odd. It was so well written you could feel the love between them. I loved seeing what happened with Brand and Wyatt. Those moments brought me to tears. I hope we get more from this series!

This is the third book in the series but can be read as a standalone. I have to be honest, I really struggled to get through this book. It took me several days to read it and the only reason I kept going was to find out how things turned out with Wyatt and his secret. I couldn't connect with any of the characters until the 80% mark in the book, which is crazy. I didn't feel the connection with Jackson and Wyatt at all. The plot was good, it just took forever for things to play out. I loved Ramie, she was a great secondary character. I wanted to love this book, but it fell short for me. The last 20% was the best and if the rest of the book was like that, it would have been great.

His accidental cowboy
By: A.M. Arthur

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Good for each other!

In this mostly dual POV M/M read we get Jackson and Wyatt’s true love story. What a great read it’s the third book in the series and is a definite continuation from previous books but can absolutely be read as a stand alone but reading in order will add to this story for sure. The authors writing flawless and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: An experienced Texas ranch hand reluctantly falls for his much younger, very accident-prone coworker in this gay cowboy romance from acclaimed author A.M.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

This series has been a bit of a dud for me. This was the weakest link so far. There was a whole lot of nothing going on in the romance department. But there was plenty of other drama. I think the author tried to throw in as many tropes as possible: age gap, secret baby, dating son of friend, workplace romance. It was all just too much and distracted from the romance.

Wyatt lands a job working at Woods Ranch where he can get close to his suspected father (Brand). Before he begins work there, he meets Jackson, also an employee of Woods Ranch, and a man twice his age. They hit it off at a bar, but Jackson stays hands off because he thinks Wyatt is too young and innocent. But he definitely wants him.

I had a lot of respect for Jackson and his reserve. He was a good guy, despite his troubled past. I still don't feel like I really know him that well, or Wyatt for that fact. The author kept things pretty surface level for the most part and I don't feel like we really got to know the characters on a deeper level. There was very little romance, so I also wasn't buying them falling in love so easily when they didn't spend THAT much time together.

The romance took a back seat to the baby daddy drama and the 'car' situation. I mean it was nice to give the book some color, but it should've been a secondary plot, not the main plot (the romance).

Unlike other A.M. Arthur books, this one also lacked in the heat department. They're usually pretty hot, but I honestly only remember one or two scenes, none of which happen in the last 25% of the book if I recall correctly. While that's okay sometimes, I come to expect it with this author, and given Wyatt's inexperience, I completely expected more than the one big scene we got.

"Oh, no she didn't just do that!", I kept telling myself about the author as I read this book, the latest in the Woods Ranch series by A.M. Arthur. The author managed quite the trick of putting together an enjoyable over the top cowboy soap opera with several twists and turns that paid off a few small plot threads from the first book in the series Think "Dynasty" or "Dallas" on a small family ranch and you get the idea of crazy plot turns in this one. Depending on your mood it might be a bit much, but in my case it was immensely enjoyable.

Wyatt Gibson has just hired on at Woods Ranch with the goal of answering some questions about his past. He's green to the job and ends up paired with Jackson Summer, who teaches him the ropes of the small ranch. The two of them hit it off despite their age difference and start burning up the sheets, all while Jackson starts suspecting Wyatt of holding back.

It was nice to see the previous characters in the series still holding prominent places in this book; some series introduce characters and then relegate them to cameo appearances afterward. This one doesn't - indeed, Brand, Hugo, Michael, and Ramie all play large parts in the story. I had felt that the last book had gone a bit overboard on the angst but this book corrected course nicely. Even if at times I was anticipating a few of the plot twists, I was still amazed at the author's audacity in her storytelling. I had a few quibbles at the end with the plot being wrapped up a little bit hastily (I would have liked to have seen a bit more of the consequences on the various families involved). Vastly enjoyable, I'd rate this one a 4.5 rounded up to a 5.

Audiobook review:
Overall – 5
Performance – 5
Story – 5

I loved the story.

I listened to this on Hoopla and I loved it. I received a review copy of the ebook from the publisher via NetGalley but got a bit behind in reading and reviewing. When I discovered this was available on Hoopla, I immediately started listening to it. One of the nice things about audiobooks is that I can listen to them when it’s not possible for me to sit and read a book. Michael Dean has done a wonderful job performing the books in this series. The voices he uses for each character are distinctive so it’s easy to tell who is speaking.

I thought this was a great story with a lot of interesting things going on. The age-gap between the two MCs is 20 years which is a pretty big difference. It becomes significant when Wyatt finds what he’s looking for at Woods Ranch. (Saying why would be a spoiler.) There’s mystery surrounding Wyatt’s best friend Jared and something he wants back that Wyatt has. It was also great to visit with characters from the first two Woods Ranch books.

I’m sorry to see this series end because I have loved all of the cowboy romances that A.M. Arthur has written. Here’s hoping that she may have a few more rattling around in her author brain. 😊

A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

2.5 stars.

I had several issues with this book, and it’s definitely my least favorite one in the series. It dragged to the point that I skipped mid chapters and didn’t feel like I missed anything. I’m glad we got a few chapters from Bran’s POV so we get to see a bit more of him and Hugo, but I would’ve liked for the author to flesh out Bran’s parents and brother better, especially since the whole point of Wyatt relocating and working at the ranch was to see if his most likely dna family are genuinely nice.

MAJOR SPOILERS from here on out…

I was really annoyed that Jackson and everyone else were mad at Wyatt for not telling them right away he suspected Bran was his bio dad. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to keep something like that close to your chest, especially considering that Wyatt didn’t know any of them. A month and change of waiting made perfect sense to me- he had to be comfortable with them. Jackson wasn’t justified in getting so upset and dragging that out.
I couldn’t stand that Bran and his parents made a big deal of the age difference- they literally just found out they share DNA, that doesn’t give them the right to try to impose their thoughts on Wyatt & Jackson. I found it super strange that Jackson slept with both father and son (granted, almost a year apart and no one knew the connection). That to me was a way bigger deal than the age difference.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
While reading the opening chapters and on into the book I was ready to give five stars, but then it became something of a slog to read. Maybe I was ready for Wyatt’s secret to come out, maybe it was that I didn’t care very much for the character of Brand. When I began this book, Book 2, I was sure that I had read it before. The characters of Jackson, Brand, and Ramie were familiar and the ranch setting, too. I see that I have read Book 1 and did not like it at all. In this book the ongoing relationship between Brand and Hugo did not feel solid to me, either. They were saying the words, but I wasn’t feeling it. This is a three character POV book, Brand and Hugo from Book 1 have scenes together.
The main couple in this Book 2 are Wyatt and Jackson and if the story had just been about them it would have been great. They were both good characters with clear descriptions of their looks and personalities. I appreciated that. I liked their relationship building and the steamy scenes between this big age gap couple. I just didn’t care too much for the story around them that started dragging on and a thrown in suspense plot had me skimming to get back to the main story. I think the big revelations between main characters could have been disclosed without silly ‘characters in jeopardy’ scenes.
So, the book started very good and ended somewhat mediocre.

40 year old cowboy Jackson is out at a nearby gay bar that's a bit sketchy. In comes Wilson, a tall, redheaded 20 year old kid.. and the two are very attracted but ultimately they don't have sex. The next day, Wyatt shows up at the Woods Ranch, where Jackson works, and manages to talk his way into a cowboy job for a 2 month trial basis. Jackson walks in to discover Wilson.. is Wyatt. The two are very professional at work but after a week, they give in and screw on their weekend off. But Wyatt is keeping a big secret from everyone: He's pretty certain he's biological son of Brand Woods, but just wants to figure it out first. Both Jackson and Wyat find that keeping their sexual relationship a secret is easier than the feelings they catch.

This was okay. The two main characters were felt flat because they weren't developed. In addition to an extremely belabored plot, the suspense was super uninteresting; is Brand Woods really Wyatt's father? Why is Wyatt's friend Jared being so weird about that emergency kit in the car he let Wyatt borrow for 2 months? I felt like Jackson's anger at Wyatt (in the final third) didn't work at all either. There was no real attempt to make an interesting character-relationship story, plus the kink arc was weird (and really didn't work.)

I'd rate this about a 2.25, so rounding down to 2 stars. It just wasn't very interesting.

I've really enjoyed the Woods Ranch series. In this book, Wyatt is a 20 year old man who comes to the area to look for his birth father. His mother died when he was a teen, refusing to tell him who fathered him. His maternal family has bad-mouthed his father his entire life and he wants to see if what he's been told is true. Before he gets an interview at the ranch of the man he suspects might be his father, he goes to a gay bar and meets a Woods Ranch cowboy Jackson. Although the two are attracted, Jackson does not act on it because he's not sure that the younger man is in a position to consent.

Later, Wyatt does get the job at the ranch, meets the man who is suspects may be his father, and his relationship with Jackson heats up. Still Wyatt doesn't want to reveal details of his suspicions because he needs to observe the family to see if what he's been told all his life is true. Jackson's always asked for truth, but this is one secret Wyatt isn't ready to reveal. Can love survive amidst the lies of omission and can Wyatt get the information he needs to assure his biological father's identity? This book has danger, strong emotions, passion, supportive friends and family, and a beautiful love.

This is book #3 in a series but I haven't read the first two and I don't think you need to--there may be some depth that I missed but I think you can follow along just fine. That said, it was fine but not something where I'm dying to go back and read books #1 and #2--I may try something completely out of this series, though.

First of all, I usually don't mind an age gap, even a 20 year age gap, but not when those 20 years are between 40 and 20. There's one thing when someone's young enough to be your kid and there's another thing when someone's young enough to be your almost underage kid. The people involved kind of brush away side characters objections on that front, but I wasn't happy about that part of the book at all.

Second of all, if you can get past that, it was all kind of meh. The waffling to come clean about what he's doing there on the part of Wyatt just dragged on too long. And that said, the magnitude of the lie didn't seem worth the reaction, either. It just all felt artificially heightened.

That said, it did hold my interest and I did like most of the characters--I just don't think I'll re-read it (and I re-read books all the time) and as I said, I'd try something else by this author rather than revisit this particular series.

His accidental cowboy tells the story of Wyatt and Jackson. Wyatt has come to the Woods' ranch to find his biological father, a man who he's heard is a terrible person all of his life. The first person he meets on his arrival is Jackson, a man twice his age who he just can't seem to resist.
I enjoyed this age-gap romance, although I don't know if the age gap is a little too much. I was prepared to put that to one side for this though as I enjoyed how the romance unfolded. Alongside the developing love story between Jackson and Wyatt, we also have the question of Wyatt's parentage and why things were hidden from him. If that's not enough, then there's also an added bit of intrigue when Wyatt finds himself in a spot of bother with some frightening people (not wanting to give things away, so that's all I'll say).
This was a good read and clearly part of a series, although I haven't read any of the other books there's plenty about the people who appeared in them and I think anyone who has read them would really enjoy it.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.

An overall good read from AM Arthur in the Woods Ranch series but this one struggled to hold my attention throughout.
It has a good age gap between rustler, Jackson, and new guy in town, Wyatt, who ends up getting a job at the same ranch as Jackson the night after they almost have a hookup. Wyatt has a secret though, as it's not just a coincidence that he ended up at Woods Ranch. There's a good amount of tension between the two as they learn to navigate working together and, eventually, coming together when off work, giving Wyatt the chance to have new experiences and Jackson to scratch an itch but it soon becomes more than that to both men as they spend so much time together.
Wyatt's secret is understandable in why he wants to keep it and take his time moving forward to it's inevitable revelation but it's scary for him, especially as he becomes attached to this new found family he has at the ranch, with Jackson, and even with Remi, his landlord/housemate. He's a complete novice when it comes to ranch life and so reading his attempts at cowboying up is fun, and the joy that Jackson takes in teaching him.
I don't think there was one specific thing that kept me from rating this higher. It was a little slow paced and I didn't really connect with the characters. My heart went out to them when the why's of how Wyatt came to be at the Woods' ranch, it not just being him that has been wronged. Jackson is justifiably upset when he finds out what has been kept from him but his feelings win out when Wyatt needs him and it is a wonderful end to their story as the family comes together.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

I always enjoy cracking open an A.M. Arthur book. I know that I will get an interesting story, characters with heart and surprises. I was no different with His Accidental Cowboy.

Interesting … a man searching for his father. Characters with heart … Wyatt and Jackson and the whole Woods clan. Surprises … well, who is Wyatt’s father?

Written with quick wit and intensity, A.M. Arthur always brings you a true love story. The story was captivating and satisfying. The interactions between Wyatt and Jackson weren’t over the top or overbearing. The dominance and submission between the two of them fit their personalities. They both came to Woods Ranch with pasts and lots of baggage but they found their way to each other and past the obstacles that were keeping them from the other. It was actually a sweet love story.

From beginning to end, A.M. Arthur kept me engaged and interested in His Accidental Cowboy. I always seem to find a moral behind her stories which always keeps me wanting more. Acceptance is always a main theme but never so much as in this one. Accepting who you are, what you want and into a wonderful, loving family.

This is the second AM Arthur book I have read and I’m here for it. With this one there is ALOT to grapple with …

Secret baby (Wyatt) sets off in search of his biological dad. On the way he meets Jackson, a quiet, brooding cowboy 20 years Wyatts’s senior. Sparks fly and nothing happens initially - until Wyatt is given a job with Jackson on the ranch. There’s an element of suspense with this one consistent with books in this series.

Jackson is the character that drew me to this book. We learn alot about what makes him the way he is so it’s pretty powerful. He’s pragmatic and insightful though I couldn’t help but feel a bit sad for him until he met Wyatt, and admittedly even then.

I think the struggle for people with this is the big age gap - and some other dynamics at play with Wyatt, Jackson and another character Brand. I won’t reveal it but woah … this could have played our any which way.

At times I felt the book meandered and wasn’t sure where it was going. It did get there in the end though I admit to my concentration wandering a bit in the middle.

More sexy cowboys from A.M. Arthur. I am so glad Jackson got a book. I was totally rooting for him.
This one is about new comer Wyatt Gibson who comes to Woods Ranch to find out more about his biological dad. I just love the way A.M. Arthur has all these things plotted out! Wyatt of course falls for Jackson, the ex of his "maybe daddy". So that is complicated and kind of hilarious if you think about it too hard. Ha!

Jackson is so grumpy and sweet, and of course we see more of his dog named Dog. We also get to see Jackson's strange and cool living situation. We learn more about Jackson's past and why it's so hard for him to trust others. . . will he forgive Wyatt for keeping his reason for coming to Wood's ranch a secret. . . wait and see!

It's A.M. Arthur, so of course there is a scary bit. And we get to see Raimy again too. I love her, hope she gets her own HEA some day. I also hope we eventually see more of Darlin' the bartender.

I listed to this book on Audible. Michael Dean did an excellent job narrating.

Thanks to Netgalley for an eArc!

I absolutely devoured this book. It's part of a series but you can definitely read it as a stand alone (I did!)

Basically, you have your grumpy farm hand (Jackson) and his adorable dog who unexpectedly run into a 'runaway' (Wyatt) at a gay bar. Instead of taking him home to bed, he takes him home for food and an actual bed. Little does he know, they will be coworkers and more.

If you like age gap cowboy romance, this is for you!

It deals with some heavier topics as well (abortion/adoption, SA, homophobia) so just be aware of that before you jump in if those can be triggers for you.

It's been awhile since I finished it, so the details are fuzzy, but I really enjoyed it. A super fun read. I need to get my hands on the other books in the series now.

SPOILER(ish)
I figured I should put this in there since it might be a huge turn off for people, but there is a (male) character who sleeps with his dad's ex (also male). It makes sense in context, but just be aware of that going in.

I've never read a book in this genre/category before. I've always had an unjustly biased opinion towards romance novels. I was always under the impression that they were all cheesy, predictable, and made up with very little substance...and maybe some of them do adhere to those attributes, but....maybe that's not necessarily a bad thing?

I was surprised by how quickly I was drawn into the story and entertained by the characters. I really enjoyed the story up until about the last 100 pages. I felt the conflict that was presented was unnecessary and only used for added drama. Then from there, I found myself rolling my eyes on more than one occasion due to the incredibly corny dialogue and exchanges that really didn't show up until the tail end of the book. It was almost as if the author didn't know exactly how to execute the ending organically.

Overall, I enjoyed myself and I enjoyed the story that was told. I appreciate the novel for allowing me to try something new. I have ordered the previous two novels in the series and I look forward to reading them soon.
