Chaos, crisis, and change are recurring themes in life. You might fear the chaos, operate in constant crisis, or resist change. But that is an exhausting way to live. So how do you find resilience and gratitude through the turmoil of life?

Despite living through familial loss, a near-collapse of her business, and other daunting hardships, Chasta Hamilton learned to lean on her love of performing arts to cultivate a contagious attitude of optimism and adaptability. This allowed her to rock her roles as a businesswoman, mother, and thought leader in the performing arts industries. In Handle the Horrible: Change. Triage. Joy., Hamilton shares insights that will help you develop confidence to tackle your daily endeavors, as well as the harder moments life throws your way.

Hamilton's journey illustrates the power of allowing art to provide clarity in your darkest moments. Whether you are an arts-lover or not, her story offers you the chance to learn to focus on the beauty, temperance, and seasonality of life, knowing that "this too shall pass."

Once in a while you discover a book that is best read with a pen in hand to highlight the insights. My copy of "Handle the Horrible" is marked up throughout as the author reminds us that "chaos, crisis and change are recurring themes in our lives" but reminds us that "yes, you can, even when you feel like you cannot!". Such an encouraging and practical book for leaders today. Full of wisdom from an author that has experienced the beautiful and the brutal of life!

I read this book in one night because I couldn't put it down. Though some of the subject matter is very emotional, Chasta manages to navigate it in a way that encourages you to "handle the horrible" in your own life and truly understand what problems are worth your energy, stress and anxiety, vs those you really need to just let go.

This book was a quick read for me at the beach. I’ve been so interested in the author’s take on dance education from her first book. This followup is more personal. Memoirs are my favorite genre. I loved learning about the backstory and connecting the dots to my own pandemic experiences (good and bad). Highly recommend.

A story of persistence, grit, determination and vulnerability. Through an artistic lens, Chasta weaves personal and professional stories together to show that a person can survive and thrive through challenges and pain. For any leader, especially women, who need a boost to keep going, this is your book!
