– from “Nails”

Science fiction, horror and contemporary fantasy author Del Stone Jr. collects his entire output of dark poetry into a single volume titled “Nails.”

Stone’s dark vision ranges from the mundane to the metaphysical, where even snowflakes and sunny days hold menace for the uninitiated. The title piece, inspired by the William Butler Yeats poem “The Second Coming,” offers a contemporary take on a subject as old as mankind. Yet Stone also brings his wry focus to the tiny aspects of life that evade the attentions of others.

Stone’s poetry was mostly written during two periods in his life – his late high school and college days, and then another short period as he approached middle age. They represent his thoughts and emotions that could not be expressed in narrative or scripted form, and are characterized by vivid images, striking language and bold ideas not often expressed in free verse.

Del Stone Jr. is the winner of the International Horror Guild Award for best first novel. His work has also been a finalist for the IHG, Bram Stoker and British Fantasy awards, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. His novella “Black Tide” and short story “Crisis Line” were optioned for film.

About this book: “Nails” is a 9,148-word poetry collection.

The book’s total length is 10,968 words.
