Karen stumbled into the world of domination and finds that she's intrigued by the sight of a man on his knees and wants to try it out for herself.
It's a pretty well written book, but the plot is a bit too unbelievable for my taste and the bdsm parts are far too weak for anyone with the kink gene. To Ms Allen's credit she managers to avoids the obvious resolution to the book, but the one she went for wasn't that much better. I can certainly understand why I choose to repress the story, but the book wasn't too bad while it lasted.
The book seemed to be rather repetitive. Every scenario seemed to be just like the last with a tweak here or there. overall it seemed to be written by someone with little interest or knowledge in actual bdsm.
This book was definitely very hot and descriptive. I'm not sure how realistic is it, because this isn't my lifestyle, but it was definitely interesting to read about. I'm interested to continue on with her other books.
Karen Masters has never been very interested in sex. But when she sees a video of her friend Barbara engaging in some very outre sex games with her husband Dan, she begins to realise what she has been missing. Beautiful redhead Pamela Stern is a dominatrix and is more than willing to show Karen exactly what this means. When she wields the whip, Karen's sexuality comes alive, and when she discovers that one of Pamela's clients is her own boss, Malcolm Travers, she agrees to become his personal dominatrix. Now Karen can fully explore the limits of her own desires - at least until Malcolm's wife finds out. This was my first time listening to this author and I have had this book for awhile. I found that the MC was not as strong as I would have liked and I also felt that Malcolm was wrong for cheating on his wife. I also had problems with the narration of this audio book.
this was an easy read not to long and not to short. however this book is not for those who can't handle sex scenes. it's a well written book and I enjoyed reading every last word. hoping to come across more like this.
In chapter one the main character, Karen, uses someone else's sex toys, in their bed...without permission, without cleaning it before hand and without cleaning it after using it! OMG NO.
After that I had to check the publication date: 2000. Then I had to proceed with the 2000 lenses on.
OMG a book now a days would not be like this. This book had NO consent talk. Karen learns to be a dominatrix by doing...which ok yes but without guidance on where to strike, how hard to strike and again without any explicit consent from anyone! When her boss tells her "no, not in the office" she tells him she didn't agree to that and to bend over his desk AT WORK! As I said, this book would not fly in 2026.
Everything in this book rolled out too easily for Karen: finding the sex tape of the people who she is staying with, to them being ok with her finding it, her domming the husband when he grossly comes on to her, the wife finding them and being ok with it. Being invited to a clients house who also happens to be a dominatrix, who then lets her join in on a session with a client...who happens to be her boss even though she doesn't find that out that first session (or the second) only after he invites her to dinner does she recognize his eyes (the only visible part of his face during the sessions) Then the wife of her boss catches them...and she isn't even that mad really! Yes Karen has to stop domming her boss but luckily she gets invited to a friend of a friends house and finds a new submissive immediately! Too convenient. She never goes to a club or anything, just through friends finds people who happen to be into exactly what she doesn't realize she is in to.
