I’ve read lots of horror. Read lots of horrifying, terrible things. But I’ll tell you, the last third of this book may have broken me. If I was in therapy, this book would need multiple session. I had to go sit on my porch in the sun to read it. I am in pain.
I love this series, but this book took so much out of me. I took a 3 week break from this book in the last act of the novel because of how horrific it was. The author was incredibly effective in the narrative and persuasive elements to make the reader feel disgust and anger. The entire time I just wanted the happy ending that I don't believe will be coming in the last book. I was in shock throughout various segments because holy shit. Very well written to cause emotional responses in the reader.
