Knox “Fort” Porter never thought a trip to the convenience store could change his life, but that’s exactly what happened. Saving a woman from a gunman is all in a day’s work given his job. However his immediate and uncharacteristically protective reaction to her is something else entirely. No way could he hit on a woman who has just been through a trauma, so he lets her walk away…immediately regretting it.
As a PR expert, Penni Stewart’s life is one constant blur. Work. Sleep. Work. But one fateful afternoon she has a gun jammed in her side and a sexy Navy SEAL storms into her life. Only he walks away and she never expects to see him again…until he’s waiting for her one night after work. The attraction that flared at their first touch isn’t as one sided as she thought.
When it becomes clear that the danger from the hold up has followed her home, and Penni’s life is now under threat, Fort will do whatever it takes to ensure her safety. But will it be enough or will the one good thing in his life be ripped from his grasp?
USA Today Bestselling author Nicole Flockton writes sexy contemporary romances, seducing you one kiss at a time as you turn the pages. Nicole likes nothing better than taking characters and creating unique situations where they fight to find their true love.
On her first school report her teacher noted "Nicole likes to tell her own stories". It wasn’t until after the birth of her first child and after having fun on a romance community forum that she finally decided to take the plunge and write a book.
Apart from writing Nicole is busy looking after her very own hero – her wonderfully supportive husband, and two fabulous kids. She also enjoys watching sports and, of course, reading.
Nicole's book will keep you on the edge of your seat. You'll have all the action and steam you need. Penni works with a PR firm and Fort "Knox" is a Navy Seal. When he first meets Penni being held hostage, he doesn't think twice about getting the bad guy. But one touch and they both felt the zing. But that is where her troubles begin and hope that Knox can keep her safe. Excellent read. HEA. I just reviewed Saving Penni by Nicole Flockton. #SavingPenni #NetGalley
Saving Penni (Seal Team Tango, Book 2) by Nicole Flockton Publisher: Aces Press Genre: General Fiction (Adult) | Romance Publication Date: May 11, 2021
Saving Penni is the second book in the Seal Team Tango series by Nicole Flockton. I hadn't read the previous book (but I will be very soon, like probably tomorrow!) but was easily able to read this as a standalone romance novel. This book is set in the world created by Susan Stoker and included some of her characters (I have her books on my TBR list too!)
I don't even know where to start! This book was so good! I read it in under 4 hours because I couldn't stop reading it! Like, I'm not even sure I ate dinner because I was so captivated by this book!
The story was incredible, fast paced and exciting! I loved the characters and their flirtation and their off the charts steamy romance! I loved getting to meet some of the SEALS and can't wait to learn more about them! This book has it all: a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, captivates you from page one, unexpected twists and turns, amazing chemistry, and lots of moments that make you feel things. I actually was smirking to myself and laughed out loud!
I can't wait to read the other books in the series. Book 3 should be released in 2022! In the mean time, I'll have to entertain myself with the author's other books! Highly recommend this one! Who wouldn't love reading about hot SEALS?!?
I'm so grateful to Nicole Flockton, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
You know, we as readers are very lucky. There are TONS of authors out there that write romance books. But every once in a while we find those rare gems. Authors that we love. Authors that consistently write great books for us. Continuously. Nicole Flockton is one of those authors for me. Every book she writes appeases that internal need for romance. A book that will whisk me away and capture my attention. That will introduce me to great characters. That will leave me with that warm fuzzy feeling at the end.
Saving Penni is one of these books. The second book in Ms. Flockton’s Seal Team Tango series. With this book, we are introduced to Knox Porter and Penni Stewart. You can’t help but fall in love with these characters from the get-go. Knox Porter is steadfast, loyal, and not looking for romance. But from the first meeting with Penni, he can’t help but be intrigued by her. Penni Stewart wasn’t expecting to be held at gunpoint when she stopped at the corner store to pick up some creamer. She certainly wasn’t expecting to be rescued by the hot seal she ran into. Used to being able to handle things on her own, will she be able to let Knox in when danger continues to stalk her?
This book is a rollercoaster of goodness. Fast-paced action, humor, and steamy romance are combined to pull the reader in and keep them wanting more. This book/author/series is a must-read. I am eagerly looking forward to more from Ms. Flockton and Seal Team Tango!
Saving Penni is the second book in the Seal Team Tango series but was fine reading as a stand-alone. This was a new-to-me author and I found it to be interesting and full of intrigue. The characters were likable and had dimensions. Fort “Knox” Porter, a Navy SEAL, never expected he would need to save someone from a gunman in a convenience store or become intrigued on the reason behind the holdup. He knew that asking her to dinner afterward was not a good idea, but he could not get Penni out of his mind. His team is looking into the holdup and discover a plot that puts Penni’s life at risk. Penni Stewart never expected to have a gun shoved into her side in a convenience store while picking up half-and-half. After that terrible night, she just wanted to forget all about it but unfortunately, she has come to the attention of the conspirators. This a great book but I do wish it were longer and we could have seen more of Knox and Penni’s interactions. It was fast-paced with lots of action, twists and turns, and hot alpha-ness. I enjoyed meeting all of Knox’s team members and cannot wait to see them in future books. I especially loved how intriguing Tex was and would love to see his story. I received an ARC and am willingly leaving a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Penni Stewart never dreamt that her visit to a convenience store would involve being held at gunpoint, but today it did. When Navy SEAL Fort “aka Knox” Porter sees her being held at gunpoint, he knows he must act fast. As she was ready to try to escape her captors’ grasp, a man suddenly disarms him. Knox witnessed Penni’s determination to try to save herself and knows that he must see her again. Wondering if there was more to this hold up at the store, they had no idea how this one event would take over their lives. As the attraction between Knox and Penni flares out of control, they and his team will delve into what was really behind the attempted robbery. When Knox realizes that Penni is in danger, he moves her into his home, but will she be safe when he and his team leave the country on their mission? Adventure, suspense and of course hot romance made this a truly enjoyable read. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Having a Gun jammed into her side was so not how Penni Stewart expected her afternoon to turn out.
Being caught in an attempted Store-Robbery/Hostage Situation was so not how Knox 'Fort' Porter expected his afternoon to turn out. But it was also not in his Character to stand on the sidelines when things went to hell.
With the Situation apparently under Control, Penni tries to forget all about it - not that she really has any chance, with Knox being intrigued by her, wanting to get to know her – and on the other hand her work for a movie-turned-reality starlet who is very demanding.
When, in the aftermath of the Store-Robbery/Hostage Situation, Penni's life is in Danger, Knox and his Team rush to the rescue.
Saving Penni is the second Book in Nicole Flockton's Seal Team Tango Series. It's also part of Susan Stoker's Special Forces: Operation Alpha World.
I really liked the fast-paced Story and the well rounded Characters and of course that we get to have a HEA. We also get to see TEX, which is always a bonus...
The Book could be read as stand-alone, but i'd recommend to read Saving Imogene / Seal Team Tango #1 first.
Looking forward to the next installment in this Series, coming in 2022.
Penni had a bad day when she’s taken hostage at a convenience store. The guy she’d shared a meaningful glance with turns out to be the the one who saves the day. Knox can’t get the girl from the convenience store off his mind and sets out to find her and see where things could go. Just as things are starting to go places, it turns out what happened at the convenience store is going to come back to haunt them.
I enjoyed the next instalment from the team. I loved how this one showed that the alpha males we love can also make mistakes and aren’t perfect all the time. Sometimes I wanted to bash their heads together and just get them to talk to one another. It was lovely to see Penni forming a friendship with Imogene. The suspense took a turn I didn’t expect and it was great. I always love reading about the team coming together to save one of their own and Penni is most definitely part of they’re team. I’m so glad they got their happily ever after.
We are back with SEAL Team TANGO and this time the story belongs to team leader Knox/Fort Porter and the woman that would steal his heart, Penni Stewart. After a day of dealing with all the PR challenges of her work, Penni stops at a convenient store never expecting to be held hostage by a gunman. Neither did she ever expect to meet Knox, the man that would save her life. After Fort’s determination to see her again, the romance ignites. But the danger follows Penni and just when Fort is out of town. This story will grab you attention from the beginning to the end. The characters are well developed and you’ll fall in love with both Knox/Fort and Penni and the rest of the SEAL team and their current and potential significant others. I can’t wait for what else this talented author has in store for us. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Edge-of-your-seat action with a beautifully tender romance
Knox is in the right place at the right time to save Penni from a convenience store robbery gone wrong. However, as he and his SEAL team learn more about the gunman, they realize that Penni is still very much in danger.
I really enjoyed the characters in this story. Knox is everything a SEAL team leader and romantic hero should be, and his slow journey to realizing his heart has been stolen by Penni was very well done. Penni is strong and independent, but when her life starts exploding around her she knows she has to rely on Knox if she wants to make it out alive.
Their romance was sweet and steamy and I enjoyed every bit of it. Their HEA is followed by hints about the next couple in this series and I'm very much looking forward to reading it. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Saving Penni, by Nicole Flockton, is a fun and fast read that is perfect for devouring poolside. As I understand it from the foreword, this novel (series, actually) is a fan-fiction project based on writer Susan Stoker's prolific [Insert gerund] [Insert woman's name] series; Stoker herself wrote said foreword and a few of her characters have cameos. But the work here is all Flockton.
Penni and Knox meet at a convenience store, unfortunately during a robbery and hostage situation, Penni being the hostage. After Knox saves the day, he returns to his SEAL team and she to her PR career. Knox regrets not getting Penni's digits and uses SEAL powers to track her down, which is not stalkerish at ALL (okay, a little bit). Penni decides to give him the benefit of the doubt, and their relationship skyrockets from there.
Meanwhile, the convenience store robbery was not as simple as it seemed, and Penni's life is again threatened. Will Knox lose the woman of his dreams just as he finds her? Of course not; it's called Saving Penni. The story is more about the Knox being head over heels for Penni and her feeling the same way, if a little more cautiously.
In his pursuit of Penni (especially when he waits for her in the dark), Knox crosses the line into a little creepy a few times, and I can't help but wonder if Penni would have forgiven him if he were a normal guy and not a hunky SEAL. Penni, though, is no shrinking violet. She is as strong as she is sweet, and I found myself thinking that she does as much saving as Knox.
The story moves quickly, though I wish Flockton spent more time on the lingering threat to Penni than in their burgeoning relationship (it feels like "it's only been two dates" is oft repeated). i.e, I'd like a little more emphasis on the suspense part of "romantic suspense." When we finally get there, the issue resolves a little too neatly for my taste.
Regardless, I am definitely looking forward to more in the series. It seems like Angela (Penni's BFF) and Knox's teammate Silver's story is next up!
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!
I stumbled upon Nicole on Twitter a few years back by accident. An instant friendship was formed. I have eagerly read and loved all her books since then. I'm fully biased, but not paid to say such things (Go look at my past reviews to see my adoration).
So imagine my surprise when she told me she was writing a book with a character named Penni...who's a blonde, blue eyed publicist (My career for many years) with a crush on Jason Momoa. I was delighted. While I can happily proclaim I've never been held at gunpoint, I wouldn't mind a hot man rescuing me.
All gushing aside, this is a great book (if you've read her other stuff, you know how good she is). Penni is minding her own business when she's held hostage at a convenience store. Luckily, Fort (aka Knox), brother of Leighton “Bird” Nelder from Saving Imogene, is there to save her. They feel an immediate attraction, but once they part, he regrets not having made an effort to see her again. So he rectifies that and shows up to ask her out. Theirs is a whirlwind romance.
Unfortunately, the hostage situation wasn't random, and now the bad guys are after Penni. Knox will do whatever it takes to keep Penni safe.
The book is at turns funny, sexy, sweet, scary and exciting.
Oh good! We get Knox's story this time around! Who is Penni? What does she do for a living? Where is she at the start of the story? What happens? How does Penni end up meeting Knox? I could not stop laughing as 'Fort' was talking to his teammmates, realizing the nickname's meaning. What happens when Penni goes to buy half and half one day? What series of events does that lead to? What prompts Knox to reach out to Tex? I had to laugh at poits about the things that happened. At other times, I was on the edge of my seat reading from the suspense. This was such a thrill to read. So suspenseful at times, but pure romance in the making!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
I know five-star book when I see one and Saving Penni by Nicole Flockton is that.
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing to read and review Saving Penni.
Yes, I get it. I read the book in four hours and didn't give myself time to suck everything in. But this was a perfect book. I mean, perfect in the sense that it makes me want more. I need more books of all the boys in the gang. because they're the sweetest babies ever.
Saving Penni deals with mental health, trust, communication, love and friendships beautiful. Its writing in a healthy way and I couldn't be more impressed with it. I'm excited to keep reading the rest of the books as they come out. I'll be there waiting for them eagerly in front row.
Saving Penni was a great read and I couldn’t put it down. All it took was a trip to the convenience store for Fort a Navy SEAL, and Penni a PR expert for chemistry to spark in this well written story. As the drama builds so does the romance between the two and it’s no long before Fort realizes that Penni’s in some serious trouble and she’s also managed to get under his skin, in a very good way. With the help of a host of memorable characters exceptional at what they do Penni and Fort get their HEA.
I just had a conversation with someone about how anyone could read books like these, they're all the same (obviously they're not a big book reader) I thought it was funny because I was thinking how they're all so different. Penni and Fort and so different. In any normal day they'd never have a chance to meet, but of course their meeting isn't under normal circumstances. This book kept my attention and left me wanting more. Somehow I missed book one in the series, so I'm off to rectify that situation lol
We are back with Seal Team Tango and Knox and Penni's story and what a story! Penni stops at a convenient store and a gun man holds her hostage. Knox just happens to be there and takes care of the problem but trouble follows Penni home in the form of a drug lord. There is danger, intrigue action and romance. We see some of Susan Stoker's guys from other books and we all need a Tex in our lives. This book is fast paced and will keep you wanting more and I can't wait for Nicole to give us Silver and Angela's story.
Saving Penni was fast moving read from start to finish. Fort and Penni are caught in a convenience store robbery gone wrong. As a Navy SEAL, Fort is able to save Penni from the gun wielding madman. All is well for a little while, but then Penni's life is in danger. Can Fort and his team save Penni in time? Read this book to find out!
I loved Penni and Fort's story. As the second book in the series, it gave me just enough of a glimpse of Bird and Imogene to be happy. I also loved the fact that we visit with Tex and some other favorites from Susan Stoker's books.
Saving Penni is the second book in Nicole Flockton's seal team tango series. Knox and Penni meet under unusual circumstances and the story flows from there. Both were great characters and I couldn't put this book down. I actually missed reading the 1st book in the series so as soon as I finished this I went back to read that. I am really looking forward to reading the remaining books in the series. The author shows the support and friendship between the seal teams throughout the books. I would recommend this book
Well fellow readers!! Welcome back to Team Tango! This is the story of Knox and Penni who meet in a crazy hold up and ending up falling for each other. Knox is the alpha leader of his team and wants to wrap his woman in a bubble but falls for an independent woman. She calls him aquaman and he calls her Penni Lane. You laugh and cry and scream at the book but it's all worth it! And if course since it's in Susan Stoker world you see some of her fav characters. Definitely a 5 star read.
As far as I’m concerned, Nicole is a genius with the way she makes the characters come alive. I mean, you can literally feel the emotions pouring from both Fort and Penni throughout the story. Saving Penni has it all, nail biting suspense, plenty of action to make you feel like your right there in the scene, relatable and truly deep emotions, and a love that although doesn’t come easy, is so worth it in the end! Definitely a five star read! Highly recommended.
Nicole Flockton has done it again! Penni and Knox are my new favourite couple!! It was nice to 'catch up' with Knox's team and some of Susan Stoker's characters. (Shout out to Tex) Don't worry if you haven't read Susan's books yet as this book can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Although after reading this book you will want to dive down the rabbit hole. Can't wait for the next one!!
This was a quick read... Penni's whole world gets blown up when she goes into a gas station. While she's being held hostage a whole lot happens and thank goodness Fort is there and saves her but they don't realize she's still in danger. So much happens you will definitely stay on your toes and keep reading. There relationship moves quickly but it works for them and they grow so much!
This book was non-stop action and a fun ride!! The characters were well developed and it was well written. I thought the author did an excellent job of creating great sexual tension between Penni and Knox. I read this book straight through unable to stop! I’m a big Nicole Flockton fan and can’t wait for more! Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.
Penni is in the wrong place at the wrong time, and Knox/Fort steps in to save her. She slips away, and it takes him a minute to find her and talk her into a relationship. The danger follows her and Knox is there again to save her. Lots of drama, action and sexy times. There are more team members to get HEAs.
another great book by Nicole Flockton ... you will not be disappointed. ..... Though I must say there is a big disappointment for me.... having to wait till next year for the 3rd book in the series :( lol
These two did not meet under good circumstances at all but the sizzle between them was instant. Knox fell hard and fast for Penni and the other way around as well. Add in some drama and suspense and these two make it through it all strong and fierce. I really liked reading this book and seeing who the next couple will be has me waiting on the edge of my seat for more.
I love when the h isn’t a weak, pathetic doormat but a strong, smart, independent woman. And thats exactly what Penni is, one smart cookie. With everything that happened to her she stayed strong throughout the story and didn’t give in to the bad guys. Now I do have to agree with some of the reviewers when it came to Knox’s woo’ing skills. He came off a bit stalker’ish but it wasn’t that bad and I still loved him. Plus the ending made up for it. Overall, loved this. Loved that Irish was mentioned (cant wait for his story) and of course, I can’t wait to find out whats going on between Angela and Silver. I swear those little teasers we get about the next book just about kills me every time. Oh, well.
