His daughter Rebecca is betrothed, and on her wedding night, she is kidnapped. Lieutenant Francis Bell of the British leads the negotiations to free her. They are two people from entirely different civilizations who learn of each other, fall in love and face many challenges to their love being from two different cultures, facing enemies within and without.

Well-written and interesting blend of romance and history between Francis (British) and Rebecca (Montauk). The cultural divide to overcome as the two sides learn from each other during colonization was fascinating. One of the things that I really enjoyed about this love story is that the author remains true to history and respectful of both sides of the equation.
