I just finished this book and loved the premise of Wren and Oscar's story.

The story takes place in the 1890s, so divorce and societal rules are much, much different than they are today. Wren finds herself in an abusive marriage that ends when her husband brings another woman home and announces his and Wren's marriage is done. Wren's father lives close, so Wren has a support system in place. She is also friends with the founders of the Women's Work Exchange that we were introduced to in the first book of the series. Wren struggles with being the subject of much gossip. The rumor mill seems to run overtime when it comes to Wren's divorce and her son. She's convinced she will never marry again. How could she trust another man to not break her heart again?

Enter Oscar. What starts out as a joint business venture quickly becomes more serious. Do Wren and Oscar have the strength to push through to a happily ever after?

Note: this book, again, is written in first person, which is a little off-putting and prevents the book from being a solid 4 star.

Absolutely fantastic book

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down and didn't want it to end. The characters are so likable and the storyline is believable and well written. After Wren's husband abused and abandoned her and her son, Wren tried to overcome all of the difficulties that she was faced with and start a new life for them. But when she is introduced to Oscar and he brings happiness back into her life, she struggles with her feelings and insecurities. Oscar has also been hurt and it will take time for both of them to accept their feelings for each other. Add in a family of troublemakers and it really keeps the story interesting. This is the second book in this series and I hope it's not the last. If you love historical romance, I highly recommend this book and this series.

This is a heartwarming story about Wren, a strongly independent woman who overcomes many obstacles. She has a son, whom she is raising alone after her husband abandoned her. Trust issues abound in relationships but she perseveres and finds someone who helps her overcome her fears. Well worth taking the time to read.

The Ship Builder.

Another wonderful story. Wren and her son Henry find a new life after her husband decides to leave. Wren is caught up on building a boat that her son wants for Christmas.
Oscar comes into her life and the adventure begins. Her faith in God brings her through many hard places but in the end God works it all out.

Book 2

Wren married a cad and her son will pay for it. Wren is quite resourceful and finds a way to create income for them. She also proves that men aren’t the only ones able to create and earn.

This is awesome!

Reading this series has caught my attention to imagine how it was for women back in the days. We are fortunate to have been born in modern times, yet we still suffer for our gender. This series encourages me to fight for our rights and equality.

I wish everyone would read this book. It shows how jealousness, anger and gossip can do if not checked. It is also full of love and compassion. I highly recommend it!
