Growing up in New York when I was a kid, I used to haunt the science fiction and fantasy bookstore in Yonkers, searching for the epic fantasy stories that I loved to read. When I exhausted all my options, I started writing my own stories, never realizing that one day I would publish them.

As you read my stories, you’ll notice certain themes and I like to carry them over from one book to the next. I always include adventure, humor, a few twists, a bunch of fights (magic and steel), and a little romance, along with a few good monsters. But for me it always starts with engaging characters. Because without characters who grow and change as they seek to overcome the challenges placed before them, as they seek to move forward, the story can’t move forward.

In particular, I like to focus on the reluctant hero, a man or a woman not seeking glory, but rather seeking to help others and challenge the evil plaguing the world – a world that I’ve created, The Realms of the Talent and the Curse. They need to learn how to believe in themselves before they can do what’s demanded of them. A personal journey that all of us experience, often more than once in our lifetimes, from lack of belief to belief in the self.

To learn more, check out the Amazon series pages for my current epic fantasy series -- The Sylvan Chronicles, The Tales of Caledonia, and The Tales of the Territories -- and my first foray into urban fantasy, The Fallen Knight Series. (Many of the books in these series have been or are Amazon #1 Bestsellers in various categories as well as #1 New Releases.)

More Magic and Mayhem

If you enjoy this genre and haven't read any of Peter Wacht's books before now, you've been missing a lot!

Mr Wacht creates vivid worlds and the deep characters that inhabit them.

There's suspense, there's magic, there's supernatural creatures, and there's even romance! And did I mention that there's stuff getting blown up everywhere?

Read these books! You won't be able to put them down!

stretching the story

I’m on book 6 so there’s something that keeps me interested. I like the character development and overall story arch. Honestly though this could have wrapped up in 5 books or less. A lot of unnecessary narration and what seems repetitive cut and paste dialogue. Tiresome. I skimmed a lot. It seems like too much effort to extend the series as a focus rather than because the story required it. Another thing is the magic system has big gaps that leave you scratching you head wondering why this or that character didn’t full use the abilities provided just a few pages before. Reviewing for 6 but applicable to all. I’ll read 7 to complete but wondering if this is a characteristic of Wacht.??

Wonderful Story

Good,The Talent, white light overcoming the Dark Magic, the Curse, black light, all because of one young man, born of two Magi, had learned to fight in the pit on the white sand. Unbeknown,, possed The Talent, fought against the evil Ghoule Overlord, and won, saving his home, and the home of millions of people who who would have been killed and eaten by the Ghoule. Bryen fought and saved the kingdom with the help of his fellow slaves. Good overcoming evil.

Great series with new insights into what a world with magic might be like

I love the character exposition in this series. Learning new things about stiff characters as the series progresses. I'm enjoying the way the plot has expanded and the story is seen to unfold through co many character's eyes

Great story

Exciting story about the origins of Caledonia a thousand years before the first series. I enjoyed this as much as I did his previous work. I will read any future endeavors.

Weir is repaired but the curse was not destroyed.

The Blood Company and Mages led by Bryen fight to the Trench where the battle continues until the weir can be reconstructed to be stronger than the original all. Showdown with the Orverlord comes next.

Another great book in the series. The Protector and his companions continue to fight the ghouls and the ghoul lord which are trying to stop him from getting to the place where he needs to retore the Weir. With the help of the 10 Magii it might be possible. Finding out who Viktor and Sirus is to the Protector and how they are related. They encounter a lot of obstacles and creatures that are quite a challenge. Friends will be lost but the war will continue. Looking forward to the next in the series and see where things will end. A real page turner.
