Gosh, I really, really love this one. I swear the author must be an insider in the K-pop scene because this all feels far too realistic for a transmigration story!
Debut or Die centers around Park Moondae, although we occasionally leave him to peek into other people's perspectives, such as showrunners or fans, and public sentiments through comments on online forums. I say Park Moondae, but technically, it's Ryu Gunwoo inside Park Moondae's body. Not only does Ryu Gunwoo get transmigrated out of the blue into the body of young Park Moondae, several years earlier than his last memory, but he also has a "system" that shows him idol-related states--and informs him that should he fail to debut within a year, he will die.
So now, as Park Moondae, he has no other choice but to chase after the coveted K-pop debut. And what's the fastest route, if not an audition reality TV show, guaranteed to debut the winners quickly and swiftly? Luckily, Moondae has worked as a paparazzi (with standards) in his former life, and he is going to utilize the information he has gathered over the years, his understanding of the psyche of the wild fandoms he frequently interacted with, and his knowledge of the future to get himself a spot of that debut team!
So, this is the pitch, and let me tell you... It's so, so good. Seriously, Moondae is such a good narrator. He is so calculating and collected but that also makes watching everyone falling for this cool cucumber so entertaining. And he is softening up to his potential new group members!
To be completely honest, I know for a fact I would've been a Moondae stan if he was a real person in a real group because he greatly reminds me of Stray Kid's Lee Know. And if you know, you know.
Anyway, I bought the first set of novels in Korean when I was in Korea, and they're so stunning - I really want to get the second set (volumes 3-6) as well, although it's so hard to get internationally grrr...

Unexpectedly a fun read, I got hooked in this idol game. Only thing I am afraid of is that after another season with them I'm going to start to listen to K-pop 😅
I can't believe my life has come to this but yes I'd die for Moondae and Kim Raebin 😔✊✨
The official translation is so shockingly amateurish at times that if I wasn't on an official pay-to-read platform I would assume it was fanlation or MTL, but combined with the manhwa I can understand the vibe the author was likely aiming for in the original Korean. My main complaint regarding the plot is the dramatic moments wrap up really quickly and way too neatly to be realistic. But luckily for me i can manage to suspend my disbelief when reading the kpop transmigration webnovel and focus more on the character arcs lmao.
