Turkey Kitchen
Kelly Fawcett is the sole survivor after a turkey dressed killer murders her wife and family on Thanksgiving at her childhood home in rural Nevada. She can sleep at night due to one indisputable fact: she killed Turkey.
Once back home in Los Angeles, a new family materializes to replace the one she lost - the staff of the Rainbow Mission Kitchen, a trans operated soup kitchen located in the hungry heart of Skid Row. The mission’s biggest day annually is the Turkey Kitchen service on Thanksgiving, and Kelly commits to working the event with the people she loves most. What better way to make the holiday tolerable than to be of service to those in need of nourishment? And what safer place to be, surrounded by her protectors and hundreds of diners? Only once the doors are unlocked for service, anyone can enter. And on the way is an even deadlier breed of butcher than Turkey. A copycat.
Turkey Kitchen - It's a great place for carving!
Turkey Kitchen is the terrifying follow-up to Turkey Day by Armando D. Muñoz.

This epic slasher sequel sees the first book’s Turkey Day Massacre survivor Kelly, whose entire family and wife were slaughtered, approaching the first anniversary of the tragedy. It’s been a long year of healing after the loss of Angela and she has healed thanks to the help of her new found family at the Rainbow Mission Kitchen. Trans owner Grace prepares her staff for the mission’s biggest feast of the year, Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, evangelical conservative radio hell raiser Fran Calhoun whips her listeners into a frenzy about “the lesbian who got away with murder last year” and gives them Kelly’s address so they can start harassing her. Soon enough, another turkey masked fiend targets Kelly and the blood and body parts paint the walls red.
I feel this is a very personal book for Muñoz, set as it is in queer culture, there are as many references to historical moments in queer history as there are to old school slasher movies like My Bloody Valentine and Halloween II.
Graphic in both its creative kills (like any great slasher) and the horrific language used by the conservative Bible-thumpers, anyone not familiar with the author’s work should proceed with caution. (That is to say Muñoz is a slasher fan and he takes them seriously!)
It’s an epic 660-page slasher that maintains its momentum throughout with characters you really come to love.
As much as I loved his first book, Turkey Day, Turkey Kitchen plays by the rules of horror sequels and cranks everything up several notches to deliver an even better holiday slasher.

A sequel to Turkey Day, with more blood, violence, and a higher body count. Kelly can't catch a break. After her disastrous Thanksgiving family slaughter she goes back to home to L.A. but a copycat has plans for her.
