I think we’ve all had the thrill taken out of our thrillers this year. But from the first page of this little known delight I was hooked!

Cass has it all. A handsome husband, 2 beautiful children, and a full partnership at a very successful ad agency. I mean come on, what could go wrong? But of course now it seems Cass’ world is about to come tumbling down after simply opening one email.

Now we sit back and witness Cass as her picture-perfect life disintegrates. Her marriage, career, maybe even her freedom!

I loved following Cass’ character as she seeks her revenge while simultaneously digging herself into a deeper and deeper hole.

I had most of the twists sniffed out early on but still devoured this read, hoping for more. And there surely was!💃

I’d have enjoyed a bit more from Cass’ husband Ethan. His character had much to offer in the lying department that could have been explored deeper.

Page-for page, this was a great thriller I enjoyed beginning to end! Can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next.

Thank you to SabiReads for her fabulous review that led me straight to requesting this book (I would have otherwise missed).

Wow! This book is ultra tense, gripping page turner! It starts fast, tension gets higher at each chapter, fast pacing, heart pounding tennis match between female characters who are on the verge of breakdown makes you nervous! All of the main characters are unreliable, keeping big secrets, hiding dangerous motives that push them to the point of no return!

I honestly say I wanted to slap mistress Emma and cheating scumbag husband Ethan million times! I also wished there would be Emma’s POV, too so I could decide she was doing things because she was manipulative, cringy woman or she was just pathetic!

Here’s the recap: Cass, 40, having a dream life: successful career, 19 years of marriage with her love of her life and two beautiful kids. But her life completely changed when she gets email from her husband’s mistress. She sends intimate photos proving their relationship and writes her husband loves her and he didn’t divorce Cass just because of kids! So you can imagine how Cass feels after reading this email: she’s seeing red, dying to find the identity of the woman and make both of them pay what they’ve done!
When she finds the identity of the woman, she’s getting more frustrated because she was working for her and all the crew of the company knows the situation!

The book started so strong. Cass’ POV was so realistic. She was fuming and feeling humiliated, seeing people talking behind her back, giving her pitying looks. She wanted to save her marriage she’s worked for her because she was still in love with her scumbag husband.

Ethan’s POV made me angrier because he kept lying to his wife, still seeing the other woman, keeping dirtier secrets.

There’s also Cass’ 45 years, creepy assistant Alice’s POV : she was absolutely obsessed with Cass, knowing things more about her life, spying on her each move like a hawk.

Second half of the book gets a little repetitive. Cass keeps getting threatening text messages, things get escalated between her and dear mistress and finally mistress gets lost, Cass becomes prime suspect!

The big twist can be foreseeable but it was still disturbing. I wish Cass may have kicked Ethan out of her life at the beginning but if she has done that, we wouldn’t have read this extra heart pounding, excited psychological thriller!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Rising Action Publishing Co. for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

SYNOPSIS

Powerful marketing executive Cass finds out her husband is dipping his dong in another woman. Chaos ensues.

MY OPINION

First of all, I've heard many how amazing and kind Marie Still is. I haven't interacted with her personally, but it's always great to hear about authors who love to interact with their readers. That's one of my fave parts of bookstagram; it's enabled me to connect with so many of my fave authors. Secondly, this was a buddy read with some bookstahoes. I love this particular group because they keep it 100. If you're on insta, follow @librarywhore and @thriller_book_sisters. They post a monthly call-out about their upcoming buddy reads so you can join. Highly recommend!

Anywayzzzz let's get into the book. Yes, I feel bad giving this two stars, but blame Besos, not me. If I could have my lil half a star, I'd give it. Unfortunately, I didn't feel this was quite good enough to round up to a three. So yes, a lil harsh but again.... blame Besos. He be going to outer space for funsies instead of giving us half stars.

This is a "debut", meaning the first book under the Marie Still pen name. The strongest part was the writing. It was punchy, albeit a lil dramatic at time (a lot of "crushed", "slapped", "punched" etc as adverbs for mundane tasks). Some parts were genuinely funny.

But that's where the fun ends LOL. One of my biggest pet peeves (among many duh) is when I don't understand the role of the main character. As in, is this a grade A wholesome protagonist, maybe a flawed hero, or the straight up baddie? I need this to be evident because it changes your perception of events. For example, let's create a fake scene where the MC and her best friend have a falling out and the MC says it's not my fault. If I'm reading this through the lens of a whole protag, I'm like ight bestie's acting out of pocket. If it's a flawed hero, I'm like well maybe you were both wrong and you're deflecting blame. And if it's a baddie I'm like ight you definitely fked her man. See what I'm saying?

So if the characterizations aren't clear, I'm not sure how to FEEL about anything. Now I'm just feeling ANNOYED. I didn't like anyone in this book, which is fine, if they're intentionally written to be unlikeable. But again, I didn't know wagwan, and tbh, I don't think the author did either.

SPOILER 🚨 SCROLL TO END

Unfortunately I can't really bitch freely about Cass without some spoilies.

Cass was all over the place. She's absolutely insufferable. In fact she grates on my nerves so much, I was lowkey kinda happy she was going through it. Her fixation with the side boo was hilarious. Talking about "she stole him from me"... HUH?? This ain't an inanimate object. And your husband wasn't held at gunpoint. It takes two to engage in a torrid affair. Also, when they sex and she does it so she can "claim her prize" and "win".... I wanted to scream. Not you going to war over some community dick. Good. Bye.

Now, in all fairness, if Cass' character had been given her a strong backstory (think The Storytellers by Caron McKinlay) where you can see how the experiences of her youth led to her needing validating from men, I would understand her wildin out. But apparently Cass was anti-men because her mom was a gold digger. So it really didn't make sense why she was going full Bozo The Clown over some JOBLESS wanker.

It was really the epilogue that solidified my suspicious that Still had no clue what Cass was supposed to be to this story. Why did she get such a happy ending? She was an unhinged maniac who cared more about her reputation in Tampa Bay (lawd) than her own kids. Why did she even have kids? She didn't give two dingleberry shits about her offspring.

Lastly, I'm gonna keep it a stack, the synopsis is very misleading. Usually, I don't care either way, but in this case, it's blatant lying. Not sure if the title is extending to whoever wrote it? Anyways. Other than the prologue (ish), Cass is never a suspect of anything. Emma's disappearance seems inconsequential and maybe Cass becomes a suspect right at the very end, but 99% of the book is about her plotting revenge on the side boo and being bipolar about her feelings toward Ethan.

SPOILERS DONE

I could keep going on and on, but I'll control myself (sorta). This book had potential, but needed a solid edit. If she had tightened up the characterizations and located an actual plot, it would've been enjoyable. The writing is 75% of the way there already.

PROS AND CONS

Pros: punchy writing, fast paced, sometimes funny

Cons: inconsistent characterizations, plot was flimsy as a carr water cracker, characters sucked and I didn't give two fks what happened to anyone

Entertaining enough, but grew tired of the drama, drama before the end!

I saw the so called "jaw-dropping" twists a mile away! This may be why it fell short for me. Yes, very short.

Also, Cass wasn't a very likeable character and her hubs, Ethan was even more maddening. In fact, you could shout, "Liar, liar" at most of the people in this book!

A marriage gone awry, a murder, and a lot of finger pointing! I was hoping for a shocking reveal, or just something that might dupe me. I love being caught off guard, but this was predictable and too vanilla for me (give me swirl)!

If you enjoy a mindless domestic drama, this one may be worth a read.

I guess I'm an outlier with this one, so if you liked it don't come at me. But this book reminded me a lot (in dialogue and the way the main character acted) of The Perfect Marriage and if you know anything about me, you'll know that it's not a good thing.

The book opens with Cass and her husband being interviewed by a police officer because Emma, the woman who was stalking Cass and who had an affair with her husband Ethan, is missing. Then we go back in time and find out how Cass found out about the affair (text from Emma with photos) and go through a bunch of hysteria about whether or not Cass should forgive Ethan, then the stalking gets worse and worse.

The synopsis is really misleading, so I'd suggest you ignore it if you want to read this book. This is just a book filled with frenzied, out-of-control domestic drama with Cass throwing things and blurting things out and breaking things because she cannot keep herself under control. Let's not forget that her husband has been carrying on an affair for at least six months, and although she gives lip service to being angry with him for one night and makes him sleep in the guest room, the very next night she is all over him "because I can't resist him", gag. And to make matters worse, when she tells him she needs him to take responsibility for the affair he says he will if she does, blaming his cheating on her because she was so involved with work. I cannot believe a woman wrote this drivel. These are two people desperately in need of counseling, particularly when they keep lying to each other and make things worse and worse.

This book is a complete mess and I figured out right away what had happened to Emma (and I was correct). The ending segment is just so out of left field that I was reeling from the bizarre turn of events. I listened to the audiobook and while I did like the narrator for the (very small number of) chapters narrated by Ethan, Cass's narrator was not good and Alice's narrator was very bland. I felt like Cass's narrator made her seem more unhinged than she was on the page if that was possible.

Like I said, there are others who enjoyed this much more than I did, so check out their reviews because it's not a thriller I can get behind. Frantic women who get blamed for their husband's cheating are at the bottom of my list for books I personally enjoy.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

Cass has a successful career and a loving husband – or so she thought. When she receives an email with photo evidence from her husband’s mistress, she knows her troubles are just getting started. But the email soon turns into harassment and stalking, pushing Cass to the edge. When her husband’s mistress disappears, Cass quickly goes from victim to suspect. Secrets are unearthed and lives put on the line as Cass’s life starts to unravel around her.

The characters of this work were okay but were lacking in development. Cass chose some strong stances during the book without us being provided any meaningful/realistic/relatable reason for her to do that (we were missing relevant backstory). The husband had no real development, and the chapters from his POV seemed unnecessary, though thankfully there weren’t many. The children felt like they only existed to make Cass a more sympathetic character – they might as well have not been present in the book for how much character and development they were given.

Since the characters were mediocre at best, I would have liked to have some sort of plot to bind this tale together. Not even a necessarily complex one, but something to keep things moving forward. As it is though, about 60% of the read is simply Cass saying how much she hates the mistress and trying to decide if she still wants her husband or not.

I listened to the audiobook version of this work and noticed that the dialogue was painfully stilted. It was hard to tell if that’s due to how it was written or due to the narrator; it did seem worse during Cass’s sections (each POV had a different narrator) but she also had significantly more dialogue in her chapters than the other POVs.

This fast-paced, over the top domestic drama was fine but lacked in some important areas. I still recommend it if you need a way to pass the time, but wouldn’t go out of my way to read it otherwise. My thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to read this work. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Cass lives an enviable life: a successful career, two great kids, and a handsome husband. Then an email from her husband’s mistress, Emma, brings the façade of perfection crumbling around her, setting off a chain of events where buried secrets come back to haunt her.
A taunting email turns into stalking and escalates into much worse. Ethan and Cass try to move on, then Emma disappears.

Now, this was certainly a fun rollercoaster ride. What impressed me from the start was Still’s writing. There were lots of interesting metaphors and dark humor. Still knows how to make you feel what the characters are feeling, and to convince the reader that Cass is really hurting. We can feel her mind unraveling and you just feel for her. There were two other POVs, her husband and assistant. They both added to the overall quality of the book, and made it more exciting.

The plot was engaging. I wanted to know what had happened, and even if I guessed some of it, there were some surprises. There were some hints that made me realize something was going on.

The story is fast-paced, there is always something new going on. I loved that the book started with Emma’s disappearance since it prepared you for the escalating suspense.

I would definitely recommend the book to others!

Featuring ~ multiple 1st person POV, debut, infidelity, secrets, lies, stalking

Cass & Ethan have been married for 19 years when she gets an email showing him in some compromising positions with a girl named, Emma.
Our 3rd narrator is Alice ~ Cass's assistant, not the mistress, which just screams there will be some predictability IMO.

Honestly, none of the characters are particularly likable, but I suppose that's the point since all their pants are on fire. I started out feeling bad for Cass, but then she goes batshiz and I starting not feeling any sympathy for her.

Overall, this was a pretty good debut. It was a fast paced domestic/psychological drama that entertained me during some parts.

I was lucky enough to have a kindle copy and an audio copy. Go with the book if you can.

Narration:
Jennifer Aquino; Melissa Kay Benson; Rob Brinkmann ~ 9 hours 14 minutes ~ Cass's narrator sounded very robotic and unfortunately she had the most chapters. The other's were perfectly fine. So happy there were 3!

I'm not lying, this book was great! While I'm not lying, most of the characters in this book are!

Secrets and lies are the name of the game!

Cass was having a great day until she received an email from her husband's mistress, Emma, informing her of their affair. She even provides proof in the form of pictures. Cass is a mess. She trusted Ethan, her husband. She didn't see this coming but will the pictures as proof, she goes on a mission to bring down his mistress. Ethan, himself, is a mess in another way. He has been lying to his wife for some time and finds himself in hot water, but he also makes some questionable decisions.

Cass and Ethan decide to go to marriage therapy but then Emma goes missing! Cass is considered the prime suspect after a public meltdown and other bad decisions come to light.

This was a gripping and entertaining book. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed all the narrators. I loved how the plot unfolded and more secrets were revealed. There were a lot of twists along the way which shocked and kept me engaged.

Shocking, entertaining and gripping.

Cass Mitchell has everything that most people want. A loving marriage, two wonderful kids, and a successful career as an advertising executive. Until she gets a stomach curdling email from Emma Wallace, her husband’s apparent mistress. It seems that while she was happily content with her picture perfect life, it was being dismantled by someone she knows. Someone she should be able to trust.

Things, however, go from bad to worse when Emma’s behavior turns from merely shocking to dangerous. For it appears that Emma is not quite done with the Mitchells regardless of how badly they want to be done with her. Now Cass believes she’s being stalked and the only logical person behind it would be Emma. Quickly contacting the police, she hopes to stop her husband’s mistress in her tracks. But it rapidly becomes apparent that even that will cause problems for Cass and Ethan. For Emma has disappeared.

As Cass watches her life implode and she finds herself going from stalking victim to suspect overnight, her mental state takes a decided hit. But she has even more to worry about than simply being charged with a crime, for Cass has secrets buried deep in her past. Secrets that could implode her once enviable life. What has happened behind the facade of this quintessential American family? Is Cass responsible for the ultimate act of revenge? Or is it all a perfectly staged production with Cass cast as villain?

Filled to the brim with secrets, lies, and hidden pasts, We’re All Lying was quite the ride! For the first two-thirds or so, I found myself spellbound by the near perfect Fatal Attraction-esque plot line. And I found myself greedily reading much too late at night trying to figure out the big overriding question: who is behind the evil deeds?

Here is where I hit my first speed bump, however, for the start and finish of this book felt out of touch from one another. Hard to explain, but once the direction of the story drastically shifted in the last third or so of the novel, many of the characters took on a rather melodramatic soap opera quality. Unfortunately, by the end, I found it all a bit much. On top of that, I had figured out most of the twists as well as where it all was leading fairly early on. Disappointing for sure. For the majority of the book, though, it was an enjoyable read centering around the dramatic unraveling of a once enviable woman into a paranoid, histrionic shell. You know, the much loved trope for many a psychological thriller?

Second speed bump (or maybe third?) was what I felt were missed opportunities. From Ethan’s unexplored backstory and inferior character development (which is unusual for a narrator) to the lack of a deep dive into Cass’s childhood, they all would have built stronger, more authentic characters had they been delivered. Despite this, I found myself liking each of them each in their own way. Okay, maybe liking is the wrong word as it was hard to be particularly fond of any of them. But they all did provide some enjoyable albeit horrifying entertainment that had me cringing with their seemingly out-of-character and obsessive behavior. Cringing in a good way, of course.

Despite moments where I found the story somewhat over-the-top, this was, for the most part, a fast-paced, addictive psychological thriller, which fully lived up to its genre. From characters you’ll love to hate (which is most of them) to the swirling paranoia that made me second guess what was really going on, I am already looking forward to debut author Marie Still’s next book. If you’re looking for a fun, quick, engaging novel that most certainly will keep your attention, give We’re All Lying a try! Rating of 4 stars.

This was a super fast paced read, but then went so over the top I got whiplash . If you are in the mood for just a fun little read that holds your attention but can suspend belief this is it. It reminded me of a lifetime movie. But with that said it was still enjoyable and I read it in one day. It is very aptly titled "We're All Lying" for a reason and I think the title does it justice. There are no characters in this book that are redeemable but that worked for this! I liked the different POV's but could totally figure out what was going on early but it still held my attention. Told between Ethan, Alice and Cass's point of view I would have to say I prefer Cass(hate Ethan!)! But everyone was despicable. Long story short this was a fun read but not anything I haven't read before.

I do enjoy a good domestic thriller. All the lies and cheating… makes for a fun story. This one started off really well and I was intrigued. Unfortunately it didn’t continue for me.

This was a fast, page turning book. But it was somewhat predictable and the ending didn’t surprise me. Maybe I have read too many of these kinds of thrillers now, but I picked the who and why quite early on. It was a shame as I had high hopes for a juicy story of betrayal.the characters were so unlikeable and there wasn’t enough from the husbands point of view.

I really wanted to like this book but it feel flat for me. I was initially hooked at the beginning and waited and waited for something exciting to happen. I thought the end was rushed and buttoned up too nicely but I did enjoy the ending. Overall, I thought it was not that thrilling. I think the book had a lot of potential but it just missed the mark for me. It pains me to say it but I am only going to give this 3 stars. I had a lot of hope for this book but it just didn’t live up to that.

One thing that I absolutely did love was the cover! As this is Still’s debut, I definitely plan on trying her future releases.

Domestic Thriller anyone? We're All Lying is a wild ride from start to finish! It's twisty, absolutely packed full of shady characters, multiple POVs, tension, and the deception is... so much YES!

AHHH THESE CHARACTERS! Did I like any of them? No, no I did not. I mean the title alone says it all. EVERYONE IS LYING! I don't think the characters are meant to be likeable. I found myself accusing all of them at one point throughout the story. There's some shady shit going down. The plot twists are damn good, and one in particular got me good! Overall, an extremely solid debut!

Thriller fans, you're going to love this one! The only downside is you're going to have to wait until 2023. Do yourself a favour and pre-order today!

Big thanks to Rising Action Publishing Co for my gifted copy!

Audiobook Rating: 3/5
Book Rating: 4/5

I didn't realize Marie Still had so many debut novels coming out in 2023 but I am totally here for it after reading We're All Lying. Every character is in fact lying, but isn't this what happens IRL too? You can't tell me there is anyone who hasn't told at least a little fib, so I feel like the title fits everyday life and not just this drama-filled novel. We get a handful of viewpoints in this book which are Cass, Cass's assistant Alice, and Cass's husband Ethan, and through these 3 we have quite the story that touches on everything from infidelity to obsession. I recommend going into this book as blindly as possible and agree with the reviewers that say you shouldn't even bother reading the synopsis (just trust us).

I was fortunate enough to receive the book as well as the audiobook, but I have to tell you that I would go with the book/eBook for this one. While I wouldn't say I was even close to hating the audio, I just did not care for the narrator they chose for Cass. Her narration is pretty stilted and disjointed and I don't know if it was her or the writing, but some things that happen end up feeling incredibly abrupt and like they came out of nowhere. However, c'est la vie as they say, and I found nothing wrong with the pacing or the wildness that ensues. None of the characters are likable in my opinion, but I still managed to enjoy every single one of their viewpoints. I think We're All Lying is a very solid debut, and I loved that there were LOL moments thrown in too! I am going to be checking out Beverly Bonnefinche is Dead when it comes out for sure.

I received a complimentary copy and an advanced listening copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

What a wild ride. Everyone in this book has secrets. Everyone is lying and when the truth comes out buckle your seatbelts! I love domestic thrillers and I enjoyed this one. The twists at the end I didn’t see coming for the most part, but the ending I didn’t like. It was wrapped up too perfectly for what was revealed earlier.

Cass lives a seemingly perfect life with her husband and two kids. Her world comes crumbling down after she receives an email from Emma, who is having an affair with Cass’s husband Ethan. This sets off a crazy chain of events and when Emma disappears, Cass is the prime suspect. Secrets are revealed and when the dust settles, nothing will ever be the same.

A cheating husband, his wife and his devious mistress is a combination that I will always be excited to read about. Something about that brand of drama is my thing. Probably because my own life is so boring 😂 This was a quick little read, you get multiple perspectives and short chapters making this a page turner that I read in under 24 hours. Knowing that everyone in the book has secrets and is a liar made this one fun, trying to decide who was being truthful and about what specific things keep me engaged and interested. Did it have the most original and unexpected twists I’ve ever encountered? No, I did see a few coming ahead of time. But this was still a juicy and fun popcorn thriller that was a perfect weekend binge read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a fast-paced book with an unreliable narrator- a recipe for success in my opinion! The story centers on Cass, who lives a pretty ideallic life until she finds out that her husband had an affair. As the stakes get higher, you learn that everyone in the book has secrets to hide and their motives aren't always clear. There is action throughout as the author takes the reader along on the journey to uncover what is really happening.

I didn't find any character in this book all that likable (except Julie, who I want to be MY bff!), but that's OK. I didn't really get Cass sometimes- she made decisions that seemed out of character and sometimes I wondered how she had risen so far up the employment chain when she acted the way she did. However, I love an unreliable narrator so I was ab;e tp get past that. I did figure out who one of the villains was early, but the motive behind that person's actions were a big surprise. I did wish there had been more breadcrumbs that I could have figured out on my own, though. The end of the book was pretty satisfying and i felt that the loose ends were tied up.

Overall, fun read that was full of action the whole way through. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

How far would you go to keep what’s yours?

This debut domestic thriller begins with Cass, a successful advertising agency owner, receiving an email from Ethan’s (her husband) mistress. After stalking Cass for a while, she disappears and Ethan and Cass attempt to move forward.

Unfortunately, this crack in Cass’s perfect persona is all it takes for her past to come crashing down around her and reveal buried secrets. For the remainder of the story, readers will have a front-row seat to this domino effect and the devastation in its wake … all starting with one email. As the destruction steamrolls and gains speed, it’s fed with lots of jealousy.

Author Marie Still explores how difficult it is to balance everything in a world pre-wired to look for cracks and how the toxic emotion of jealousy prompts us to act impulsively out of character.

As the suspense escalates, you suddenly realize … we’re all lying.

I wouldn’t say I connected to any of the characters or even liked them, got frustrated with the unreliable narrator, and thought the plot was a tad predictable and repetitive, BUT it was a compelling read. This author shows promise.

I really wanted to like this one, which is why I decided against DNFing it. But I honestly could not get into it. It was a lot less thriller and much more drama. I could not bring myself to like any of the characters and it was a very slow burn. It would have been better for me if some secrets were revealed throughout the books instead of all at the very end, and then it could have led up to a big twist. But instead, the writing almost made me believe there were a lot more secrets than there actually were. The twist at the end was surprising but didn’t really satisfy my desire for a mind-blowing twist. Overall, I feel this author has a lot of potential, but this book just didn’t do it for me. I’m giving this one 2.5 stars rounding up to 3 on goodreads.

I am an outlier on this book, but it wasn't for me. The plot and characters were all over the place and it was much more an overwrought domestic drama than anything remotely resembling a thriller. The whole thing was about Cass's dumb husband, Ethan, boning younger women and Cass finding out and flipping out and slamming things around and at one point stuffing paper in her mouth (?). Emma's disappearance felt like a side story and the ending was some straight-up General Hospital circa 1985 business. I would have DNFd this, but I was reading it for a buddy read and felt obligated to finish.

This was SO good! And it’s a debut? WHAT! 👏 Hi, I’m Shannon Jump, and I’m officially a Marie Still fan. 🙋🏼‍♀️ The caliber of writing in this novel is just fabulous; I was impressed from page one. From the highlightable metaphors to the sometimes dark humor, the plot, the pacing, the red herrings...gah! I loved it all.

Read if you love:
* Unreliable narrators
* Dual first-person POVs
* Ominously creepy vibes

Marie Still is definitely one to watch! 𝑾𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝑨𝒍𝒍 𝑳𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 is out March 14, 2023!

The husband + the wife + the mistress who blows up their lives. Bring it. I can always get down with some messy domestic suspense and was all aboard for this debut thriller.

When the book opens, the police come to see Cass & Ethan, our married couple at the center of the story. It seems that Ethan's mistress, Emma, has gone missing and the cops have questions. We go back in time to the day Cass learns of the affair and watch as everyone's world implodes.

I am always game for some arguably unlikable characters doing all the unlikeable things, but this book didn't wholly hit the mark for me. I am happy to root for the antagonist and prefer my characters messy, but I also need to find *something* in them to root for. For me, Cass's choices made it hard for me to get behind her on her quest for revenge.

I will say the characters live up to the title - there's a whole lot of lying and secrets happening in this book. I think if you're new to the genre this could certainly hit the mark, but I did figure out the core mystery pretty early on. There will still some surprises along the way and it was quick read.

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

I liked the narration for the most part, but the woman that read as Cass came off as a little robotic to me. The story is about a woman who finds out her husband is having an affair and the craziness that ensues after the revelation. Almost all the characters are unreliable narrators which leads to being steered in multiple directions with now way of knowing who’s lying. I did enjoy how it all wraps up at the end, although I found the final twist kind of obvious. Anyone that’s into psychological thrillers will probably enjoy this book!

With a title like We’re All Lying you know you’re getting into a story with multiple unreliable narrators and that’s exactly what this book gave. The story is told from three first-person POV’s between Cass, Ethan and Alice.

Cass and Ethan are married with two children and Cass has just discovered Ethan has been cheating on her with one of her employees, Emma. Alice is Cass’s assistant, which to me was a tell that she is going to in some capacity be a large part of this story.

This book was immediately gripping and kept me enthralled throughout the entire story through the ups and downs, cheating and lies and to the just plain wild. There are threats made, arson and at least one person winds up dead with another on trial before the end of the book!

I really, really enjoyed this story and beyond some mild predictability I thought it was great and if you like thrillers I’d definitely recommend you give it a try!

The audio narrator did a great job and was a solid choice for this story.

We’re All Lying by Marie Still
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Synopsis: Cass has it all! A successful business, two great kids and a successful husband. It all comes crashing down around her when she receives an email from her husband’s mistress. The secrets just keep coming the more she finds out. Just when it looks like Cass and Ethan may be on the verge of working it out, his mistress, Emma, disappears.
My thoughts: I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller! I certainly had my suspicions as to who Emma’s killer was but there were enough other characters with motive, that it kept me on edge. There were plenty of surprises and I love the last few chapters! Beautifully written and a great novel to recommend to my friends! Grab this one when it comes out! Thank you so much Marie for my advanced copy! It came at the perfect time as I had finished my previous book earlier the day it arrived!

Thank you to @mariestillwrites for my beautiful package! You totally spoiled me! Something about a signed book just makes it that much more special.

This is one crazy ride! So much deception and lies it will make your head spin. I always enjoy a good domestic thriller. This had some raw family dynamics which we can all relate too. It was fast paced, well written and I even got a bit of a chuckle here and there. I really felt for Cass and I enjoyed the fact that she was not complacent; she had a thriving career and was strong in the end.

I will say I despised Ethan. He was such a dick with a capitol D. So way to go on achieving the needed hatred for this despicable character! I think writing characters no one likes is probably hard.
If you are looking for a fun escape that will make you forget your problems then hop on this hot mess express of a family and hold on!

This book was such a ride! I don't read a ton of thrillers but maybe I need to start if they're all this up and down. I was swept along for this ride and I especially loved one of the side POVs, who just was just so deliciously creepy. If you like a twisty, fast paced plot with raw family dynamics then go and get this book! Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC!

Tantalizing Twizzler Twists! 😳😯🤯😳🤯

⊰ 𝐖𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐋𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 ⊱

Ooo this was one absolutely sensational yummy treat for a psychological thriller with cat & mouse vibes! From the first chapter, it starts off with a bang and my goodness it doesn't stop chapter after chapter. Each moment goes from one to the next with constant booms and mind twists that leave you shocked and speechless. I was chomping on my nachos while reading this like it was my last meal because this plot sucked me in so hard! I was rooting hard for Cass and even after some major mind bombs, I still wanted her to prevail. Be ready for one twisted ride that will have you saying "BEG YOUR PARDON?!" a good dozen times throughout. You'll be left absolutely jaw-dropped with some of the revelations as Still sucker punches you as the conclusion creeps closer. Because the truth sets you free... right?

Cass has it all with her work and family feeling powerful and unbreakable, until an email threatens it all with her husband's mistress email, pictures included. However, it doesn't stop at just an email, it ratchets up as Emma increases tactics and makes it known to Cass, she's not just his mistress but wants to be his wife. And she's is in her way. Cass has far too much to lose, buried past & present to allow this to happen. And when Emma goes missing, the heat is turned up.
