Snuggle up in front of a blazing fire, your favorite quilt, and a piping mug of hot chocolate as you delve into this sweet, holiday romance.
On the other hand, forget the hot chocolate, or it will end up coming out your nose from all the chuckling and laughing you’re going to do.
Kylie Dennis, one of the top sales associates for the department store where she works, has given up on men. Not a one can live up to her standards. And they’re not even that high: be an interesting, kind person whose main goal in talking to her is to get her into bed with him.
When the H.R. department asks her to work in appliances for a couple of weeks, until Christmas, she seethes at the inconvenience. She’s always worked in women’s apparel, and knows nothing about appliances. But then, she begins to see the manager of appliances, Michael, in a different light. He’s kind, fun to be around in a quiet way, and handsome.
She lets her feelings for him grow.
Until the day she catches him kissing one of the temporary sales associates.
Oh, how she would love to drop him from her life. Except for two things. She needs to keep working in appliances in order to earn more commissions due to a family crisis.
The other problem? She drew Michael’s name during the annual staff Secret Santa meeting.
Michael Harrison knows that a woman like Kylie Dennis is way above his pay grade. Especially since he has to walk with a cane, thanks to an old accident. But when he draws her name to be her Secret Santa, he wonders if giving her the right kinds of gifts might be a way to subtly woo her.
Problem is, Kylie alternates between warm and cold in her treatment of him. And like a typical man, he has no idea what he’s done to deserve it.
This clean and wholesome holiday romance novel is the first of six novels in Emily Josephine’s “Christmas Sisters” series. Although it’s not strictly a rom-com, the wild misunderstandings between Kylie and Michael, helped along with the intrusion of the zany Luna Bell, the temporary associate in question, will have you giggling and tittering, sometimes outright laughing. Get ready for heartwarming moments as well, that will have you letting out holiday cheer-filled sighs of satisfaction.
Assuming she's still alive when you read this, Emily Josephine lives somewhere on Planet Earth with a couple of people she refers to as "family" when she's in a good mood, writing stories with characters who lead much more interesting lives than she does, with an eye toward entertaining readers as well as encouraging them to grow into the person God created them to be, and in so doing endeavoring to kick the habit of writing run-on sentences; however, she sometimes waxes Charles Dickens-ish and is at such times unable to help herself - and speaking of famous people, if you look for "Emily Josephine" on any social media site or on YouTube, you will find more than one person going by that gorgeous name, but it will not be THE Emily Josephine, the author about whom you are now reading, because Emily Josephine The Author is severely and deathly allergic to both social media and YouTube, and if anyone tries to assert the proposition that such an allergy is an absolute and certain impossibility, she will stoutly deny their denial, "stout" being an absolute and certain absurdity in this context as there has never been anything stout about Emily except for the blessedly brief period of her life when she was pregnant and a mommy to a newborn baby.
I really wanted to like this book. And parts of it were ok. But holy crap is it really that hard for two people to have adult conversation? The big misunderstanding between the two characters lasts 3/4 of the book and could have easily been squashed with a quick two second adult conversation. If the characters were in high school or even early 20’s it’d be alittle more believe able. But when the main characters are 30+ years old, that’s just unacceptable. Got to the point I wanted to slap them both and tell them to grow up.
Author maliciously mocks people who are different in a supposedly Christian story of six sisters helping their parents through challenging times, in the season of goodwill.
Holiday romances are my happy place! I love it when this time of the year rolls around, and I pack my Kindle with many of them. This story was a pure delight. It takes place at a small town department store where the hero and heroine work. The hero is one of my favorite types, the beta hero, who happens to be wounded, who is misunderstood by others, especially women. Despite this, he is a kind and compassionate person. The heroine is kind, smart, and relatable as well. She's the oldest of six daughters and provides direction for her younger siblings, including at this time when their parents’ home is in jeopardy. She's the typical put-upon older sister, and now she is cracking a bit under the strain of her multiple responsibilities to her job and her family. The hero and heroine have an attraction to each other nearly right away, though he thinks there's no way that a beautiful and intelligent woman like the heroine would be interested in a wounded man like him and the heroine has sworn off men. It doesn't help that they constantly see and hear things that make them believe the other is involved with another person—though neither of them is. They also give each other mixed signals about how they feel about each other and the state of their relationship. In the context of what the heroine believes to be true about the hero, some of his actions make the heroine think he is not the good guy she thought he was.
The book has a fair amount of humor—especially revolving around coworker Luna (aka Loony) and her boyfriend—which I always enjoy in a holiday romance. I liked that the author had multiple storylines going, including the heroine's personal growth arc revolving around her difficulty with her siblings and the looming prospect of their parents losing everything. Being that this is a Christmas tale, everything resolves beautifully in the end, and the author took care to tie up various threads neatly at the end. This is the first of 6 books, each focusing on one of the sibling’s romance, and I will certainly check out the rest as this one was so well done. If you love a well-written, sometimes humorous holiday romance that tugs on the heartstrings like I do, check out this book. You won't be disappointed!
This story had A LOT of ups and downs in it. UPS and downs that shouldn’t have even been there if the two of them had just talked like reasonable adults. Also lots of assumptions about each other and other people
I would have MORTIFIED about what happened at the Christmas party if I had been her. Followed up by the gift the brothers presented at their house on Christmas Day……I would have been turned off completely. It was bad enough that it made me downgrade my rating of the story.
I loved this book so much I forgone sleep because I wanted to finish the book. At first I was leery of reading this book but as I was retired it turned out to be a good Christmas book. I am so glad the Christmas cheer was not commercialized it was Christmas of good cheer.
This was an okay read. Kylie and her family are struggling so she’s happy to take extra shifts at work. While working in another department, she’s closer to Michael and her secret Santa. She becomes all hot and cold because she’s confused about her feelings for him, especially thinking he’s dating someone else. I liked the characters, and plot but felt the story dragged a little.
I really enjoyed this clean holiday romance. The plot was well timed. The characters were appealing. Even the characters I didn't like do much were important to the story.
Very cute but mostly predictable love story. I enjoy these kinds of series where there's a family and each book focuses on one family member. This one is about 5 sisters and this first book introduces all of them but focuses on the eldest. I liked it.
Like this good cozy murder mystery. Nice and short. But this one ended good. Some short books seem to end abruptly often timed without any real closure. I am reading lots of authors I have never heard of and that is great.

I totally enjoyed everything about this book. The story was good. The characters were awesome and realistic. But the laugh out loud parts made it so I couldn’t put it down. Will recommend it to everyone I know who enjoys a good book. Thanks.
Secret Santa exchanges get interesting when personal feelings get involved! There are some real characters in this book, who provide a bit of entertainment, and trouble. Add in six sisters, and , oh my!!
It was a great story. I’m not a fan of AI voice. It just cannot get the inflections needed to be really entertaining. The story overcame that and it helped I was both listening on audible while reading on kindle. Would recommend this author
Thus was an ok contemporary romance between a couple who had gotten each others name for their company's secret Santa . lots of misunderstandings a few laughs and a lot of blessings.
I did enjoy this book it really had all emotions in it ...Kylie & Michael should've come clean, instead of " thinking" what was, but that did make the book a bit more interesting.... Thank u
I loved this story. I couldn't put it down .This is one of my favorite types of romance books. You can beat a good Christmas story a this one is great.
A good read for people who are into the series recommended highly a good read but quick shaping up to be a good series must read the next one of the series
On the positive side it’s clean. The story itself quickly becomes annoying. You want to think that two intelligent people could communicate a little better than to jump to silly conclusions with every interaction. The drama was a bit too much because it was just dumb. The ending also felt contrived and didn’t really make sense. The rescue was a bit too big to be believable.
