DNF at 48%
I think the insta-love killed this one for me. It just didn't seem to have any depth and I felt no connection to the plot or characters. I tried several times to complete this book, but eventually lost interest all together.

Rock em sock em Space Romance
In the traditions of the old sci-fi action novels with a hot romance. I fell in love with Rigel, Phoebe and most of all, the Blarmlings, I loved the adventure and I appreciated that Phoebe was the one who know her way around the technology. I plan to try the next one in the series..

Fun!
This read like a Saturday matinee--kind of a Flash Gordon vibe to it... The obvious good guys, obvious bad guys, and a few weird characters thrown in so it feels like a proper space movie. All that's missing is the soundtrack. 🙂

Action packed adventure. Fun and funny with antagonists galore and romance tossed in. Even furry delightful creatures come to the fore.

Blarmlings are Awesome!
I really enjoyed this story, especially the Blarmlings! Lots of characters, some you will love - others you will totally dislike - and tons of action! Phoebe and Rigel are amazing MC’s what with all the bantering, misjudging each other, trust issues, etc. Throw in Space Marshals, pirates and corrupted officials, stir it all up into a story with an amazing ending - and there you have it! A read you may not want to put down until you finish the book! Do need to warn you that there are a few places where some very intimate, sexually explicit encounters take place. They are not the gratuitous, overly explained in detail, “acts” that may appear in ‘other’ stories. The ending will have a few twists to it, but warm fuzzy feelings will abound!

“The Blarmling Dilemma, Hearts in Orbit Vol. 1″ by S.C. Mitchell is an instantly captivating story of love on the run. Through space.
Phoebe Callista steals a pair of old Earth cute-as-a-teddy-bear Blarmlings from the research facility she works at. Worked at. Knowing the silver furry creatures with purple eyes are really people, she is determined to return them to their home planet on the far side of the galaxy. And her plan might have worked if interstellar bounty hunter Rigel Antares had not captured her.
As luck has it, Rigel is a Blarm sympathizer, having spent time on their planet before. He is easily recruited to help Phoebe get the Blarmlings back home, at the loss of the substantial bounty on her head. Seems there is something much more appealing about Phoebe then his financial gain, no matter how much he needs the money to repair his derelict spaceship.
Now toss in a corrupt galactic marshal determined to capture Phoebe and fry Rigel plus a few powerful space pirates and the action never ends. Each time Phoebe, Rigel and the Blarmlings solve one more problem and it seems like it’s finally going to be smooth sailing to Blarm, you look at the remaining pages and know it can’t be done already. And it’s not. Something else is waiting ahead to challenge the furry Blarmlings and their human helpers–turned lovers.
And that’s okay, because you will not be ready to say good-bye to them just yet. This is the story you think about each time you must put it down and can’t wait to get back to.

Recently employed by United Research & Technologies, Phoebe is a biomechanic at the research facility where plans are in motion to breed two Blarmlings in hopes of giving the population a new pet source now that cats and dogs have nearly become extinct. When the pair fail to produce satisfying results, they are slated for execution and dissection. In response of which, soft hearted Phoebe has no choice but to free the two-Lart and Oolo-and see them safely home to the planet of Blarm.
It's a plan that lands her a bounty that Rigel desperately needs in order to keep his ancient ship from falling apart.
Born of a thief who was tried and sentenced to the prison planets, Rigel may be called a spacer but he's lived by the law all of his life despite the stigma of his upbringing. When he was released at the age of fifteen, he joined the circus and earned enough credits to buy himself a ship, soon finding his way into a bounty hunting career.
And that brings us to the beginning of BD as it kicks off in the heat of a starship battle between the two. When Rigel first meets Phoebe, he's in awe of her. Leaving me to be in awe of him.
I loved Rigel's personality. Here's a guy with images of a blonde hair, green eyed beauty in his mind, with memories of her panty drawer riding the edges, and his first fantasy is simply of her holding him while he sleeps. Romantics out there, prepare to swoon.

What fun! Space pirates, a Robin Hood-type planet, an interstellar circus, prison planets, and cuddly endangered species aliens, not to mention hot sex between two instantly likeable lovers. How could this mash-up possibly work? S.C. Mitchell manages to pull it off with exuberance. This writer has a gift for creating charming secondary characters and wild but successfully executed plot twists.
My main quibble is with his copy editor who missed a lot of comma placements that made me stop and reread a passage and who confused taught with both taunt and taut. Still, this was a great non-stop read.

Just finished an advance copy of The Blarmling Dilemma...and I was charmed by the Blarmlings. There were interstellar pirates, lots of technology, and cultural conflicts galore in this novel. The central story line involved Phoebe, who when captured by Rigel, soon captures his heart. Together they face challenging odds to return the Blarmlings to their homeland. Will they be successful? Read it and see for yourself!

A darling story, this reminds me strongly of H.M. Piper's sci-fi classic Little Fuzzy. The central protagonists are cute aliens, but they've also got some sass and are quite ready to take on an abusive system. They're helped out by an attractive engineer trying to escape being a pampered princess and a space bum trying to escape humble beginnings and the self-consciousness they bring. A roller-coaster of a read that will have you joining the circus to fighting pirates!

Fun sci fi adventure
The worldbuilding is somewhat grim, although good triumphs in the end. The Blarmlings are great, and Rigel and Phoebe are interesting main characters. There is graphic sex and a body count, but overall the story is entertaining and heartwarming. I look forward to book 2's release.

Space pirates and bounty hunters
I enjoyed this. It was lighthearted and funny at times and serious at others. I enjoyed the romantic buildup between the H&h. The sex scenes were steamy but the love was sweet. The Blarmings made me laugh.

blaming indeed
I loved this story about rescuing a species that everyone believes is beneath them. Rigel was honorable and very selfless. I thought the blaring a were adorable and interesting especially with the men being pregnant, hilarious. I wonder what's next in this series.
