When Maggie Dubois’s son leaves for college, she is left alone in a house too big for one person on a collision course with a midlife crisis. A slight detour leads her to a singles’ retreat in Michigan’s gorgeous lake country, and impending doom is averted. Sort of.

Instead of finding love, Maggie gets drunk and buys an abandoned, foreclosed farm. When she uproots her life and moves there, she discovers it is haunted by a farmer named William Morgan, whose spirit cannot leave the land that killed him.

Has she purchased a nightmare, or the beginning of a dream come true?

This was such a great read! I teared up four (4!) times and I love it when a story sucks me in like that and makes me feel all kind of emotions. I went from laughing to tearing up to nail biting and back.
It’s the journey of Maggie, a woman who buys a farmhouse and Will, the farmer who died 70 years ago.
The cover is a beautiful representation of the story!

The writing style was wonderful. Dialogues flow naturally. The descriptions of the barn and the beautiful surroundings make everything come to life.
The characters are well rounded, flaws and all and as a woman of Maggie’s age I immediately connected to her and her story/journey. I wish I could meet them IRL!
The dual POV (my favorite) makes it you get to know both MC’s really well.

The chemistry and emotional connection between the two MC’s were off the charts. Man, was I rooting for them!
There weren’t a lot of steamy scenes, and the sex is fade to black (except for one beautiful scene), but the leading up to it is 🔥🔥🔥. Like I said: they have a lot of chemistry and the attraction sizzles of the pages.

The plot/plot twist surprised me a few times (in a good way!).It isn’t often that I shout out a ‘Did not see that coming!’ and ‘Nooooo, this can never ends well!’ at an empty room (multiple times!).

There were some really funny interactions, remarks and events written with humor. Humor isn’t easy to write! I especially loved the funny, sexy banter between Maggie and Will in the later chapters.

The story also has great side characters. Dahlia was funny and fierce and a great friend, Connor was sweet, same as Bob. Maggie having a good relationship with her ex was also refreshing.

And last but not least: The end blew me away!
This is one of those books where you keep reading and reading because you want to find out what happens and then leaves you sad because you finished it.

Amazing

I read this book start to finish from 11o'clock at night until the sun had already risen; and with two toddlers, I take my sleep seriously. That went straight out the window reading Barn Song. This book was heartwarming, heartbreaking, and detailed so beautifully. It also had a great message behind the very well thought-out plot. You could see the creativity flowing in the pages right alongside the pictures the details created. I'd absolutely read more of the authors work.

Premise is young divorcee falls in love with an old decrepit farm. She buys it and the ghost of a former owner inhabits the barn. He is soon able to talk to her and finally appear. A love affair between ghost and homeowner. More follows and it is just hard to keep going with this whole relationship. Quick read.

Although I'm not one for narrative writing , I definitely enjoyed Barn song! It's not my typical type of book either but it was good!! J.n is a new author to me and I'll definitely be reading more of their stories!!

Super Cute and Unique

Loved this! The storyline was great, the characters emotions were really felt through the words as I was reading and it had me in tears in several spots! Enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one.

Barn Song

What a lovely book. Well written and an exciting read. I haven’t cried reading a book in many years but I was blubbering like a child at one point. So glad I found this author.

The one thing that makes a book a 5+ star read for me is my inability to stop thinking about the characters and the story for days or even weeks later. This one totally fit that criteria. What an amazing story! I fell in love with these characters right away and the author made me feel for them. Like seriously feel for them, to the point where I found myself in tears a couple times.

When Maggie found herself thinking 'what now?' when her son leaves for college, I found this to be something many women have experienced and could relate to, however, that is where the similarities to that situation ended. lol

The love story between Will & Maggie is beautiful and the supernatural element, I have to admit, was a big beautiful draw for me.

I really don't want to get detailed at all, because this is a story you need to read to love. If you love a beautiful love story, and have a bit of an opened mind, I strongly encourage you to pick this book up. You will not be disappointed.

Breathtakingly Good

Maggie and Will. Oh my heart. This was such a well written love story. It swept me away from the moment I began reading and I didn’t want it to end. From the vivid descriptions to the calling of the barn, the incredible transformation of the characters, and the sad goodbye…I fully admit, I cried. I highly recommend this book.

Side note; I absolutely love the book cover.

The only thing I regret, is not reading this sooner.
