Maisy Moore is not looking forward to the holiday season. As owner of the only hair salon in Gamble, Alaska, she’ll be run off her feet helping her clients get dolled up for Christmas and New Years Eve parties. Parties she’ll never be invited to.
But that’s not the worst of it. As a single mom, she knows she still won’t be able to give her seven-year-old son, Jack, the kind of magical Christmas his classmates get. Telling him how much she loves him will only get a kid that age so far. If only she could give him what he really wants—to know who his dad is.
The last thing Maisy needs is for NHL star Chase Evans to come waltzing back into town like he’s God’s gift to women. But that’s exactly what Chase does.
After a taking a crosscheck from behind, Chase’s season is over. Instead of scoring goals, he’s recovering from shoulder surgery, and according to his mother, there’s no better place to recover than home. Because let’s face it, basking in the glow of local adoration won’t be too bad. There are no fans quite like hometown fans.
The last thing Chase expects is to find Maisy Moore still single. He decides to see if maybe they could rekindle their brief romance that occurred the night of their ten-year high school reunion. But when he tries to talk to her, he discovers Maisy’s feelings of lust have turned to loathing. And he’s determined to find out why.
Will Maisy manage to keep the identity of her son a secret? Will there be a holiday miracle that will reunite two hard-headed lovers? Will the BOGO special on shampoo and conditioner be a hit?
Find out in the deliciously funny and ridiculously romantic final installment of the Love is a Gamble Mom-Com Series.

I am very hit-or-miss with the secret baby trope, I must say. Single mom and hairstylist Maisy Moore has hid the identify of her son's father for years. But now that her mother has passed, a stipulation in the will is forcing Maisy to come clean.
After experiencing a torn shoulder, hockey player Chase Evans is back in his small town of Gamble, Alaska. And little does he know, his life is about to change even more. Given the complicated history with Maisy, I did find the relationship was too fast paced, but I loved their initial fiery banter upon seeing each other again.
Maisy was a great mom, and I adored the bond she shared with her son. As the BIG secret is revealed, I think any anger Chase had was totally valid, but I really struggled with how entitled he felt in certain situations. But overall, I enjoyed seeing this family become whole, especially surrounded by the festive season. It was a cute read!

I voluntarily read and reviewed a gifted copy from the author(s). All thoughts and opinions are my own.
2.5 ⭐ - Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
So, when I picked up this book, I was very much looking for a small town/sports romance. That is kind of what I got in the first half of the book. However, the secret child trope came into play, and I have to say I am not a fan of that. The author's even make a nod to this by Maisy saying "I know, I know, 'secret baby' is by far the worst romance trope. As romance novels are my only social life, I read a lot of them."
Maisy still lives in her small town of Gamble, Alaska and owns a beauty salon. She also has a seven year old son, Jack and no one but her now deceased mother knows who his father is.
Chase is a pro hockey player who is forced to retire after a career ending injury, moves back home to Gamble to his parents' home to recover. He and Maisy has met up at their ten year class reunion years ago and have not spoken since. This is when Jack was conceived, Chase having no idea about him.
With Chase being back in town, he and Maisy re-kindle whatever they had between them, and I will say at first I liked their banter, but then I thought everything kind of moved too quickly.
They went from hating each other, to loving each other, back to hating each other and so on. The transitions just did not make sense for me. I also, do not like Chase as a character. Some of the things he says are so rude and out of left field I cannot handle it. Maisy on the other hand, is so whoa is me about how hard her life was having a back brace and lazy eye. I know kids are mean, but you are a GROWN ADULT and need to move past what kids called you in school.
So, on to the things that I did like. Jack! He is such a sweet and funny kid. His come backs to his mom and dad defiantly were what made me laugh. Also, like I said, I did like the banter between Maisy and Chase when it was actually good.
My overall conclusion is I do not think I will be picking up any more secret child books, but I can see myself picking up ither books by these authors.
I liked this dual POV, single mom/ex-NHL player, second chance romance set in Alaska over the holidays. There was some great scoliosis rep which I thought gave the story a lot of depth.
My only complaint was that I thought the characters didn’t spend enough time actually exploring their feelings together on page. They went from 0-100 almost instantly when Chase comes home and then the miscommunication blows everything up.
🔥Steam level: kissing only (no on page explicit content)
Dear heavens! Maisy and her situation absolutely broke my heart. Normally it takes extra effort for me to be able to empathize with the mother in a secret baby situation. But there was something in the way I connected with Maisy over being a survivor of bullying that I didn’t expect, and left me feeling surprisingly jaded about some of Chase’s words and deeds. He may not have meant them the way they came across, but hurt is hurt no matter the intention. Even though I had some issues with Chase’s attitude, the authors were still able to make me love him and cheer to see these two get a real opportunity to make a relationship work. It was a bit of an emotional roller-coaster, but it’s one I’d happily ride again and again. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
I will start off by saying that the main trope (secret baby) in this book is not something that I usually like, but the way this was done was really good. The authors do a great job allowing the reader to understand just why the FMC made the choices she did. All while showing it wasn’t easy for her and the heartache she carried for her lie and the love for her son’s father!
Let’s dive into Maisy… There is no way that you can’t feel sorry for her. After being the punchline of so many jokes growing up to becoming a single mom after a one night stand with the boy she loved (that she didn’t think loved her back) and then losing her only support system, her mom. It was like this woman couldn’t catch a break. And after Chase pretty much hooked up with her and left (which was never really explored; if he loved her why was it so easy for him to leave???). But, I think my heart fell out of my chest when Chase realized he was Jack’s dad. While I felt for him, I knew the life she knew just blew up in a million pieces.
Oh Chase… You can’t help but have mixed feelings for this man. I hate the whole “making fun of girls = liking them” so I was not into the childhood Chase, but when he first came back and saw the error in his ways he was so cute (and sexy) with Maisy. You could really feel his attraction and love for her and he was really excited to get to know “her” kid. While I understand that Chase was angry at Maisy for what she did, I hated the way that he treated her. She was already so broken apart by so many things and it was like adding salt to her open wounds. I think he redeemed himself after talking with his dad, but it’s hard to forgive a person after they said things, even if it was out of anger.
Overall, I really loved this book because it dug deep into so many hard hitting topics and handled them pretty well. If I could change anything, I would have made younger Chase a nicer boy to justify her love for him. Even though I know that’s addressed in a way… I just want a fan. Other than that, this book was great. I especially loved the relationship Chase built with Jack and how happy he was to have a big family and fit in so fast and well! Always love happy endings for kids!
P.S. The epilogue was a cute addition! Maybe a novella to see even farther into their family’s future! 🙂
Warning: this book does talk about cancer, death, and the bereavement process. It also deals with childhood trauma.

nah if my mother which she says they're like best friends force me to reveal my baby daddy's identity or become homeless i'll murder that woman in after life ☝🏻
this book has all the things i love in romances: single mom, small town, hockey player and somehow worst combination ever
cons: he was her bully(kinda), she was celibate but he had girlfriends, secret baby trope, annoying and ungrateful child, there was little romance i don't even remember if they kissed 🤨
pros: jane and angel were kind of nice🤨
the way chase handled the situation after he learned the truth was gross 🤢 i really hate him
and the whole town treating her badly? i don't understand how grown up people can be so mean especially TO THEIR HAIRDRESSER because i'm like an angel toward my hairdresser he can ruin my hair if he wanted to😭✋🏼
thanks to netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review! 🦫
NHL star Chase Evans returns home to Gamble, Alaska after receiving a career-ending injury. He’s hoping he runs into Maisy Moore again. He had not seen her since they hooked up at their ten-year reunion. He discovers she has a seven-year-old son, Jack, who strangely looks just like he did when he was that age.
I loved this story. Maisy had a rough childhood. She had a lazy eye and wore a back brace. The other kids were not very nice. Top that off with her father leaving her and her mother. Her self-esteem took a hit, and she has trust issues. On the flip side, Chase is Gamble’s hometown hero. He has always been popular. Plus, he has a loving family. The two have numerous issues to overcome. They have misunderstandings and fail to see things from the other person's perspective. The townspeople are noisy and getting into their business. They have wonderful chemistry and challenge each other. Jack is adorable.
HATE, RINSE, REPEAT is a heartwarming story. This is the first book that I have read by either Whitney Dineen or Melanie Summers. I enjoyed their writing style and would read other books by them in the future. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Hate, Rinse, Repeat by Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers is the third book in the Gamble of Love Series. This story is a perceived enemy to lovers -a secret baby story.
Maisy Moore is the owner and hairdresser of the only salon in Gamble, Alaska. She is also a single mother of a seven-year-old, Jack. When Maisy was younger, she was a bit awkward; she wore a back brace, had a lazy eye and wore corrective glasses; the kids in her school teased her unmercifully since her name rhymed with lots of adjectives; she was called crazy, lazy, hazy, daisy, and Swayze, running joke was not to put Maisy Swayze in the corner. Her perceived childhood nemesis is Chase Evans, an NHL star. The last time he was home was to celebrate his ten-year high school reunion, where he and Maisy reacquainted; tequila may have been involved, but that was seven years ago. Chase took a lousy crosscheck from behind, ending his hockey career with a rotator cuff injury. He returns home to his parents to recuperate.
This read is one that was difficult to put down. It has tons of moments that will surprise you, make you swoony, make you giddy, make you mad and sad and more. Every page has something that will keep your interest. The banters between Chase and Maisy will make you laugh and feel all giddy at the same time. The confession will leave you all melted inside. They were so adorable to each other before the secret was revealed/discovered. Days after the discovery was the saddest part but at the same time happiest for Jack. But these days didn't last, Chase's anger started to melt as he discovered more of Maisys background.
The ending will leave you tearing up and feeling all warm inside. This book and the entire series has been amazing reads. Can't wait for more.
4.5🌟 A great story, with realistic heartbreak mixed with romance and hope. My emotions went on a rollercoaster ride! So much history between Maisy and Chase and they had such different perspectives on their interactions as kids in small-town Gamble, Alaska. I found their problems very realistic and the hard times for Maisy made the ending Christmas scenes all the sweeter. This one has more heart than humor but I don't see that as a negative and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Maisy is a tragic underdog figure from her childhood on and Chase, the charmed hockey star who returns to town to find he's a ready-made father thanks to a drink-filled one-night stand, was a character who did not win a lot of sympathy from me.
One of the most jarring notes was the total absence of any reflection on Chase's part about how he would have juggled having a child on the way with his travel-filled hockey career lifestyle had Maisy told him about her unexpected pregnancy. He seems so clear about Maisy robbing him of the early years with his son but I'm not so sure about that. Sure, he can be an attentive, doting father now that his career has ended but would he have been when his career was on the up and up? So, while Maisy gets lots of blame she also gets my support, Chase much less. A novel that gets me pondering the would'a could'a moments and grabs my emotions like this is all to the positive.
Although this is the third in a series about life and love in Gamble, Alaska, it really has next to no overlap with the two previous, both of which I also loved. Easily read as a standalone and the epilogue provides the perfect end.
Thanks to the authors, the publisher and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
More Rom than Com -Totally Heartwarming Just in Time for the Holidays
Maisy and Chase had a lot of history as they grew up in the same tiny town in Alaska but with completely different outcomes and perspectives. While he was always the handsome athlete from the perfect family who went on to play in the NHL, she had physical, paternal abandonment issues and was bullied - and she viewed his efforts to befriend and tease her in a friendly manner as further bullying. Then a drunken high school reunion and Jack makes three. Fast forward to Chase's forced NHL retirement due to injury, his return to Gamble and his family to heal and sparks fly with Maisy as she tries to hide her big secret - their son Jack. The story is told from both characters' perspective so you can sympathize with both of their POVs - and as expected with this writing duo the banter and even internal dialog is witty and LOL although the actual issues are quite serious. Their son Jack is a pip, and Chases's parents are lovely. The book kept me engaged until the very end as it was unclear if they would get an HEA. It is part of a series but can definitely be read as a standalone (although all are great and available in KU if you have it).
That quote really stuck with me. This book was heartbreaking, charming, and heartwarming all at once! It tugs on the heartstrings pretty dang hard! Fair warning; tissues were required for me. My heart ached for Maisy. Not just on all the hardships she struggled through, but the feeling that she wasn’t enough to keep someone in her life, especially a parent. Yes, she made a mistake, but it was made with the best of intentions. I liked Chase and had to hold my breath after reading the salon “scene.” I wanted him to hear her out, give her a chance to explain, and maybe show some grace. But I also u ceratopsian his anger. I give his mom a lot of credit! She was the graceful one in this story, and I love how she tried to help Maisy through everything. Jack was adorable, and I loved it when the three of them were a cohesive unit! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest opinion.
This book really keeps you glued to the pages with anticipation. As you can guess by the title alone, this is sorta enemies to lovers, also sorta second chance romance and throw in some secret baby for good measure. Maisy has hated Chase since their school days, where the popular jock would call her names and tease her. She has the diaries as a constant reminder of those trying times. Chase remembers those days quite differently.. if only he can prove that to her, maybe she can get over her hatred for him. While there is a lot of humor in this book, there is so much more anxiety. There is also a lot of miscommunication between the characters which doesn't help matters. There aren't really any teary eyed moments, but there are a few heart breaking scenes. The story reads easily and quickly, and as I mentioned, it was hard to put down. It alternates between POVs. There is a tiny amount of sexual content, but safe for teens and up.
Writing duo Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers always deliver a nice balance of comedy and romance.
This time I must admit I wasn't sure it would end well for our characters who had so much anger inside (Maisy against the bullying she suffered as a child; Chase against Maisy's major secret).
There is so much unsaid that keep these two apart ... my heart hurt for them and Jack all along.
I often hear that people in little towns are real meddlers but I hope they're not as bad as they're to Maisy in this book. Because I felt really bad for her (if people know her past, they should understand and be kinder, no ?)
I could have been funnier but it was nice to read a deeper romance for a change.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing and eARC in exchange of an honest review.
This is so much more than a second chance romance. Maisy and Chase were meant for each other. They have great banter and awesome chemistry. Unfortunately, Maisy misunderstood Chase’s intentions when they were younger and with good reasoning. Understandable hate on both sides. They both have to learn how to forgive so they can move on and be happy. Get the tissues ready and make sure you have time to finish it. You are not going to want to put this book down. I kept saying I’ll stop after this chapter but then I wanted to find out what happens and had to read the next one. Melanie and Whitney are one of the best author duos and I hope to see more from them in the future. Fabulous ending to a fabulous series. Read, Love, Repeat.
Hate, Rinse, Repeat is the first book I’ve read by Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers, however since this was the third book in the series I don’t think it will be my last.
Maisy and Chase have known each other forever since they grew up together in a small Alaskan town. However they have different memories from their time together. Maisy grew up with a back brace and a lazy eye so she always felt like an outcast from everyone. Chase didn’t necessarily help with her feeling that way since he always drew attention to her.
Fast forward to their 10 year high school reunion and Chase comes back from his NHL career in Vancouver to attend. Then fast forward 6 more years and Chase is back in Gamble, Alaska recovering from a career ending injury to discover that his might with Maisy at the reunion led to 6 year old Jack. They all have to navigate the repercussions of Maisy never telling Chase he was a father so it is pretty Rocky. Though they are a family and I am so happy that Maisy now has people to support her and Jack. The story was super sweet!
Hate, Rinse, Repeat. Sounds like a song that might go along with “Wash that **** right out of my hair!” LOL. Ok, maybe not, but you can guess that with Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers in the mix, you will be laughing for sure.
Chase and Maisy may have had a lot of work to do to resolve all the issues they are facing, but what good is success without putting that work in. Add a small town, Gamble Alaska, weather, sports, drama, family, and little surprises and you have all the makings of a can’t put down read.
I can say that with this being book 3 of the “A Gamble on Love Mom Com” series our authors have done a great job putting thoughts on our minds and then pulling all the stops out to give us great resolutions and happily ever afters. Nice job ladies and I look forward to more from you both.
This is the third book in the "Gamble on Love Mom Com Series" and I have to say that this book is just as good as the first. A self contained HEA that can stand on it's own, this book is a great introduction to the world of Gamble Alaska and all the wonderful characters -- and families -- that inhabit that town.
I do not want to give away too much of the story, because like everything by these authors there is a wonderful mystery in the form of "why did they make that choice" that will keep you flipping pages after you should have gone to bed. As always the characters here are so real that at some times you want to laugh with them and at other's you'll find yourself giving advice to your Kindle to 'wake them'.

This is a second chance romance with a secret baby twist. Although the secret baby is not my favorite trope, the author did a good job of explaining why the character felt the need to keep the secret.
Maisy owns a hair salon in the same town in Alaska where she grew up,. She had an awkward childhood thanks to a variety of inventive nicknames.
Maisy is keeping a big secret - her son. She never told the father - her high school nemesis Chase - about Jack, who was the result of a high school reunion and too much tequila...
Chase is a pro hockey player who has just sustained a career ending injury. He decides to recuperate back home. Once there, he wants to rekindle their romance, but Maisy is afraid of being hurt. Oh, and yeah, the little secret she kept from him....
**I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest and voluntary review. All thoughts and opinions are my own**
Hate, Rinse, Repeat is the third book in the A Gamble on Love Mom Com Series by authors Whitney Dineen and Melanie Summers. Sadly I have not read the first two yet, however, after reading this gem, I plan to ASAP! Luckily, if you haven't read the first two yet, you don't need to enjoy this story.
This book has quite a lot going for it. Secret kid? Check. Enemies to lovers? Check. And second chance romance? Check. I loved the whole premise of this story, and parts of it had me in tears.
Maisy, now a hairstylist, business owner, and mom to 7-year-old Jack, didn't have the greatest time growing up. As someone who was bullied quite a bit growing up, I felt a sort of kinship with Maisy. I know a lot of people probably feel like Maisy was just horrible for keeping her son from his father, but I am not so quick to jump on the Maisy sucks train! Maisy has a lot of trauma that she needs to deal with. Starting with her own father bailing on them, being bullied through most of her childhood, and then the loss of her mother. Thankfully, by the end of the story, she is well on her way to healing.
I felt really bad for Chase at the beginning. Losing the career that you are so passionate about because of a cheap shot is terrible. I actually think he was too hard on Maisy when he learns the truth. I mean, he did leave town and never bother to come back. So why would Maisy ever think that he would want to stay and have a family? I understand how she could conclude that her son would be better off not knowing at all rather than knowing that his dad didn't want him.
No, I don't think it was the right thing to do, but I understand how Maisy really would have felt that way.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I loved Chase and Maisy and I adored Jack. He was just too cute. This story was a beautiful story that was filled with heartbreak, and loss but also with forgiveness, second chances, and most importantly forgiveness.
What I loved most
First and foremost, I really loved the relationship Maisy has with her son. As a mom (who happens to be a little over-emotional sometimes.) with a 7-year-old son, I found myself getting teary-eyed just from the connection these two have. Plus Jack is just the sweetest kid ever.
I also loved how quickly Chase fell in love with Jack. I mean how could you not? Chase found out he had a son and immediately made him the priority. I know in that situation a lot of people probably wouldn't know what to do, but he jumped right in and said I'm going to be a dad now. I thought it was pretty amazing.
Lastly, I actually liked that they went into detail regarding Maisy's past and her working through it. I think a lot of romances, especially Christmas romances, are so sweet but don't have a lot of depth. I still love those sweet romances but I like a story with some emotional depth as well.
What didn't I like?
Honestly, there wasn't a lot I didn't like. Other than the fact that I couldn't put it down... I sat in my work parking lot to finish it because I didn't even want to drive home without knowing how it ended!
The only thing I guess would be that I feel like it could have been just a little bit longer. I would have loved their relationship to have built a little more. It was almost like one day Chase doesn't even want to look at Maisy and the next day he wants more of a relationship with her. I feel like that was more trying to wrap the book up rather than making it a little longer.
Also, I typically read much more... I guess we could say spicy romance books. This book is completely PG, which I thought I would mind but the story is so sweet I think spiciness would have ruined it.
I'm so happy to have read Hate, Rinse, Repeat and I recommend it to anyone who loves a sweet holiday romance. If you do, I promise this one will not disappoint.
Two characters who are having to face big changes in their lives. The story is wonderful! Full of drama, but love as well, they just had a long way to go. I could hardly put this book down to sleep last night! The only problem- when I reached the end I wanted to holler for more. I mean- the last chapter before epilogue could have lasted long, or just added a couple more, so we knew more about their Christmas...I wanted more of them finally being together again. Or the epilogue could have given us more. I wanted her to share that final journal entry with him. Something. I'm just wasn't ready to leave them yet.
*I am leaving an honest and voluntary review after receiving this book as an ARC.
This book was so sweet and sad, dealing with the agonies of childhood being an outsider because of physical conditions-always being picked on. Add to that a boy that wanted to show he cared, but just missed the mark. Now fast forward ten years or so and add a secret baby, and you have the start of this story. Melanie and Whitney captured all the feelings of betrayal and lost love as Maisy and Chase try to find out if they can forgive each other and move forward together. I was really sweating this one out-it didn't seem like there would be a HEA this time, but happily, I was wrong and after sobbing a little, things worked out in the end!.

Another great book in the series! Sometimes what we see isn't always the whole picture. Both Chase and Maisy realize that soon enough. Maisy has really disliked Chase all through school, but there has always been an attraction. When Chase is coming home to Gamble to recover she sees a whole new side of Chase that she never took the time to know. In turn Chase learns some sobering facts about their shared history. Though Maisy is keeping a mighty big secret from Chase that could implode the tentative new relationship brewing. Maisy's son Jack is a hoot! He had me chuckling through out this whole book. The sayings he comes up with. I like the mother son bond they have. This book also touched my heart with Maisy dealing with the loss of her mom because I know how hard to was to navigate the first holidays without my grandpa. My heart went out to her and Jack. This turned into such a beautiful story perfect for the holiday season. It gave me all the hearts and feels along with some angst and plenty of laughs. I would recommend this one!
I enjoyed reading Hate ,rinse , repeat . This story is heartwarming and humorous it's also emotional at times . It's a great second chance romance with all the feels . Maisy Moore didn't have an easy childhood growing up without a father and having Chase Evans picking on her all through school . One unforgettable drunk hookup with the beloved professional hockey player at a class reunion spelled trouble . Almost seven years later Chase is back in their small town and ready to win Maisy's heart but Maisy has a big secret that might just stop their relationship cold . I highly recommend taking the time to read .

I thought this book was great! Yes, Maisy is a bit odd, but her heart is in the right place and that’s what matters. Her and Chase have a little boy. Only, she never told Chase so he has no idea. Her reasoning for never telling him is a bit odd, but like I said, her heart was in the right place, she should have just had all her facts. Chase just had a career ending break and is back in his hometown trying to figure out his next step. He’s always been attracted to Malay and now is his chance to try and kindle something her. Too bad she’s been keeping something major from him!
This was a good read. While I'm not a huge fan of the secret child trope in general I think this was fairly well done. The secret didn't drag on, and the confession was quite comical. I'm glad that Chase didn't forgive Maisy right away and I would have liked her to have had to work a bit harder to win Chase back. She said plenty of I'm sorry's, but I felt it could have been more. I just don't think she fully grasped that she hurt her son and Chase by keeping the secret. And her reason was just lame and unreasonable. It seemed like she felt more sorry she got found out before she was ready to tell the truth and was losing Chase than remorseful of the action itself. But over all this was a nice HEA and had just enough of the holiday theme to make it good and not too cheesy.

After a career-ending injury, pro hockey player Chase returns home to Gamble, Alaska. He reunites with Maisy, the girl he had a secret crush on all through school. He doesn't know that their drunken hookup seven years earlier resulted in a son. What will happen when he finds out?
This book is heart-wrenching and hilariously funny at the same time. The banter between Chase and Maisy is delicious. If you're looking for a holiday rom com, this book is the perfect choice.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
From the drama of life and the heartache of disappointment, Hate, Rinse and Repeat is a reminder that it's okay to have a sense of humor. Dineen and Summers take an unconventional approach to heartbreak and find comedic gold. Chase and Maisy are a wild blend of humor, heart and hope that never gets old.
