A man with barricades guarding his heart.
The woman whose love can knock down those walls.

For Eric Berenger, the family business is where he’s worked all of his adult life and it’s all he knows. He doesn’t have time to waste on his personal life. The last thing Eric needs is a workplace romance. But when he meets Cassidy Nolan, a businesswoman who comes to his company with an intriguing proposal, he’s instantly attracted to her.

Cassidy Nolan has built her company from the ground up. Now she’s ready to expand if she can get top venture capitalist Eric to take a chance on her. One problem. He was her high school crush who kissed her senseless one night. A night she’d like to forget as he clearly has. Seeing him again doesn’t make it easy.

Thrown together for a common goal, they form a bond that threatens all Eric believes in and doesn’t think he can change. If he can’t, he’ll lose the woman he loves.

Janis has always loved writing contemporary love stories. These are tales about people in their 30s finding connection, navigating career and life changes, and falling head over heels in unexpected ways. Those stories still hold a special place in my heart. But lately, she’s been drawn more and more to characters with a little more mileage. People who’ve lived, loved, lost, and kept going. That’s why she’s shifting her focus to seasoned romance.

Seasoned romance is about characters who are in their 40s, 50s, or beyond. There’s something incredibly compelling about two people who aren’t looking to be rescued, but instead find someone who sees and appreciates them exactly as they are.

The stakes are often quieter but no less meaningful. Instead of love triangles or who’s texting whom, we’re dealing with grown-up issues like aging parents, blended families, second careers, or healing from past relationships. And because these characters have been around the block a time or two, their decisions often carry more weight, and their intimacy feels more grounded. They’re not afraid to ask for what they want, or admit when they’re scared to want it.

She’s still bringing the same slow burns, deep emotion, smart heroines, and stubborn, lovable men. But now, the heat and heart come wrapped in a little more life experience.
These are romances for readers who know that falling in love doesn’t have an age limit and that sometimes the best chapters are the ones we never saw coming.

Sometimes you come across a romance that focuses on relationships in a realistic light. Driven is one of those stories.

Cassidy and Eric are well matched. They’re both capable and ambitious, striving to succeed in their careers. Neither was the weaker link and they treated each other as equals, which I loved.

I found their maturity level refreshing. There was an undeniable attraction between the two, but it was tempered by mutual respect. They dealt with problems rationally and with level heads, instead of flying off the handle and jumping to conclusions. That not only made their relationship stronger, but their story a pleasure to read.

If you’re looking for a satisfying, believable romance, you’ve just found it!

A GENUINE ROMANCE

This is a modern day romance with everything you need for a genuine story. Two adults, with a shared past but nothing tragic or traumatic. There is real emotion and feelings between to grown people with a mutual respect and understanding. Business partners to friends to romance, this was a wonderfully, basic written story that was real in its telling. Nothing elaborate or far fetched, just a genuine romance.
