From the outside, the tent looks like any you might see at a county Tall poles support crisp white canvas that ripples gently in the breeze. But inside, the tent is a different world, one GraceTown hasn’t seen for a century. Only, no one can see this tent—no one but Sophie Jessup.
Sophie Jessup has a good life. Staying in GraceTown keeps her close to her parents, and running her antique shop lets her uncover forgotten treasures, like an unusual gold coin romantically inscribed with, Love Be Yours, Love Be Mine. Her own love life isn’t perfect, but passion is overrated. Right?
When Sophie agrees to volunteer at a local festival, a mysterious tent catches her eye. She enters the tent today—and exits in 1916. She thinks she must be dreaming, especially when handsome Josiah Huston comes to her rescue. But the details—and her connection to Josiah—feel too real to be imagined.
Somehow, Sophie has opened a door to the past--and to a love she never believed possible. But this door won’t stay open forever. She knows that when it closes, it will close for good, forcing Sophie to make an impossible choice.

I am enjoying this new series by Cindy Kirk. The first story was the Pink House and now his one. I was hesitant at first about the fantasy aspect of the stories, but they have turned out to be excellent stories. When I thought about it further most romance stories are stories of fantasy.
The main part of this story takes place in 1916, but still it goes between modern times and 1916. Sophie and Josiah have quite the exciting time together and it allows Sophie to evaluate herself and decide what she really wants to do and where she wants to be in her life and her relationships. Spending time with Josiah lets her figure it out and make the changes necessary.
I personally liked reading about the time period of 1916, I have always found those times fascinating.
I'm really loving this new paranormal/fantasy/magic aspect series. I felt the chemistry from Sophie and Josiah right away and I'm a huge fan of historical fiction so I absolutely felt right at home in 1916. I can not wait to see what else happens in GraceTown. (Also a fun little surprise when it took place during a Chautauqua and I live in Chautauqua County near The Chautauqua Institute).
I received an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
If you had a chance to step back in time, would you?
Sophia Jessup aka Sophie unknowingly steps back in time when she finds a very unique love token and places it into her pocket. It’s during this step back in time that Sophie meets Joshia and realizes that her current relationship might not be what she really wants.
This book is so much more than an enchanting love story. The Love Token is also a 1916 history lesson. We learn about the “Tin Lizzie”, electricity, photography, dancing and so much more.
This may be the second story in the Grace Town Series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone.
I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a well written time travel romance that was full of emotion.
I am probably going to be the odd man out, but I found Sophie and Josiah's story to be heart wrenching. I wanted to be delighted, happy, and optimistic, but I didn't feel it.
Even when Josiah and Sophie were together and happy with the intensity of their new found love, there was something of a cloud hanging over it to me.
When Sophie called about the trunk, what happened was pretty predictable. I didn't feel sad about the events after the trunk issue. I did feel like the intensity of those emotions would not be easy to recreate or create.
GraceTown still held its magic. If you are somewhat of a history buff, this story should appeal to you. I did find that it held my interest. At the end of this book, I still felt a lingering sadness. There was even an epilogue which I usually live for, lol.
The Love Token is the second story in the Gracetown series but is a stand alone story. Sophie Jessup is a lover of antiques and history, she owns Timeless Treasures Antique Shop and delights in the history of her hometown. She and her current boyfriend are supposed to volunteer at a local historical festival but when he backs out at the last minute, she begins to realize that he isn't the man for her. Prior to leaving her shop, she discovers a love token in a steamer trunk that she purchased at an estate auction and carries the coin with her to fairgrounds. Sophie is assigned the two tents that have re-enactments and as she is attending to her duties, she discovers a third tent. When she enters the tent, the occupants are all dressed in period clothing and as she exits she realizes that she has stepped back into the year 1916 where she meets Josiah Huston. Josiah is a car dealership owner and a widower who came to the fair to hear some of the famous orators of that time but when he sees Sophie in distress, he approaches her and there is an instant spark of attraction. As they spend time together, they both fall instantly in love but each night Sophie returns to her time. Josiah vowed to never love again so that he wouldn't have to experience the pain of loss but Sophie is a ray of sunshine that has him changing his mind. Sophie must decide if she can give up the modern conveniences she enjoys, as well as her family and friends that she loves for the true love she feels for Josiah. The story that follows is filled with love and emotions, decisions and fate. This is an amazing story of the wonders and magic to be found in Gracetown as well as the strength and heart of true love to carry you through time.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
Not sure how I felt about this one. I was thinking 5 stars but again the ending fell flat. There was so many annoying things like seriously she didn’t google Josiah or go on Ancestry? Just not buying it. And the ending - yeah - no. So far this series is just not for me which is weird because I like the whole concept. I guess I will stick with Good Hope
The Love Token is the 2nd Book in the GraceTown Series and is definitely a “Stand Alone” Book. The main character of this book is Sophie Jessup, a young woman that owns Timeless Treasures Antique Shop in a town that she has grown up in, GraceTown. Sophie truly wants love in her life with promises of marriage and kids and she feels she might very well have it with boyfriend Dylan Conners. At least she did feel that way until Dylan pulls out of a commitment he made and that was to work alongside her for the weekend at the historical festival being held at the fairgrounds dressed in early 1900 garments. At that point she realized what was important to her was not important to him.
As disappointed as she was, she knew she needed to just carry on and enjoy the time she was volunteering and being dressed up in a period she was very interested in. Prior to heading out to the fairgrounds she takes a few moments to check out an old trunk that she had bought from an estate sale. With little time to go through the truck she did find a pouch with a coin in it that she knew was known as a “Love Token” in early years. She then headed to the fairgrounds with the token in the pocket of her dress.
What takes place the next three days at the festival with Sophie, brings mystery into this story. How is it that with two tents set up at the festival with programs to be seen throughout the day, that Sophie is seeing a third tent? A tent for some reason only she sees and can enter and walk out into the actual streets of GraceTown in the early 1900’s. As important was that, she could return back to the current era by the rubbing of the coin in her pocket. Was it a dream or as she ended up realizing towards the end of the festival, the ability to “Time Travel”.
During her 1st visit “To the other side” Sophie ended up meeting Josiah Huston a widowed businessman that had made his mind up that he would never open his heart back up to love again. But, the chance meeting of a vibrant young women named Sophie and the time he spends with her (as she comes and goes for the three days) makes him realize that his heart could heal and open up to love once again. What is as important is that Sophie realizes there is true love out there for her and she did not have to settle for less. The question though is, can Sophia stay with Josiah and give up her family, friends, business and just disappear. If she can’t do that and goes back to modern time, is she going to be able to survive being without Josiah? This is a wonderful, heart wrenching love story that I so much enjoyed and truly loved the end of the story. It goes along with the saying “Things happen for a reason”.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
In GraceTown there is a lovely little shop called Timeless Treasures owned by Sophie Jessup. Sophie has a lovely family she sees all the time, wonderful friends and a boyfriend. Sophie is so excited to spend her first weekend away from her shop in a long time volunteering at local historical festival. She is even more excited that her boy friend will be with her the whole time. While getting ready to go Sophie opens a recent trunk she acquired and finds a love token. She has heard of them, but never seen them before. She puts it in her pocket and heads out the door. When her boyfriend Dylan calls on her way out and gives her bad new that he can't join her, she is heartbroken, but knows her and Dylan find different things fun and lets him instead go away with friends. While volunteering Sophie sees a tent she didn't see at first and heads in. She is amazed by the costumes and historical accurate. When she leaves the tent her world has changed. Sophie isn't in 2023, she is in 1916. Sure this is a dream Sophie is helped by a man named Josiah Huston. Sophie is sure she has hit her head and this is just the most amazing dreams she has ever had. Josiah is everything Sophie has every wanted in a man. Josiah Huston is a man who had everything. A good business, a great family and a woman whom he love very deeply. But his wife, the love of his life was taken from him far too soon. Josiah was sure he would never open his heart again and he was okay with that. Fate had a different idea for him. When Josiah stops to help a lady in distress he finds his whole world turned upside down. Sophie and Josiah fall in love in just a few short days, but they actually live worlds away. The world and characters that Cindy Kirk build in this story are amazing. I was wondering that was going to happen and I found myself as twisted in my stomach as Sophie was. Sometimes finding new love and even loosing it makes us rethink our life and open our mind (and hearts) to new thoughts, ideas and people. The ending is amazing and made me so happy. I am excited for another story from the magical town of GraceTown!
Sophie Jessup is the owner of Timeless Treasures, an antique store in GraceTown, Maryland where magical things are known to happen. Sophie does too much for others and not enough for herself. Her boyfriend, Dylan Conners, is not very attentive. He lets her down once again after promising to volunteer with her at the Chautauqua Event in town. Once again Sophie is on her own as she attends the event. This is where the magic happens.
At the Chautauqua Event, GraceTown had chosen to re-create performances from the year 1916. The community was encouraged to wear clothing from that period. Sophie loved history and was very excited to volunteer and be a part of this event. On her first day of volunteering, she sees 3 tents when there was only supposed to be 2 tents. Could this happen for Sophie because of the Love Token she recently retrieved from a steamer trunk from the Wexman estate auction and had in her pocket? She enters the 3rd tent and time travels to the year 1916. There in 1916 GraceTown, she meets Josiah Huston. The attraction for both is strong at their first meeting. Sophie finds an honorable man in Josiah. He is someone who respects her, protects and shows her that he loves and cares for her. This is something that Sophie has never had with any of her other relationships.
This was such a fascinating story. Does Sophie’s happily-ever-after have to happen in 1916, meaning she will leave her family and friends or can she find love again if she stays in present day GraceTown? Cindy Kirk has weaved an intriguing story that drew me in and had me not wanting to stop reading. I wanted Sophie to have the love Josiah offered. I recommend that you read this book and travel back in time to the year 1916, which I found engrossing remembering how life was then, and see for yourself how the story ends in a very good way for Sophie!
Sophia Jessup or Sophie as she is often called owns an antique shop called Timeless Treasures and works as an Archivist at Collister College. Sophie has always enjoy learning of history of the past. In Gracetown fairgrounds fields they are getting ready to celebrate the era of 1916 Chautauqua-which represents traveling education and social movements. Sophie has volunteered to participate in this fair and has decided to take the suggestion to dress from that era. While clearing out a trunk that she bought from an auction she comes across a coin not just any coin but a love token with the words "Love be Yours, Love Be Mine". she decides it add to her attire. While working at the tent site she comes across a third tent that she didn't recall seeing before and before her she realizes she has walked into literally 1916. At first she wonders if she is dreaming or hallucinating as she begins feeling overwhelm a young man about her age comes and ask her how she is feeling. So begins this supernatural story where Sophie has time travel into 1916 where she meets Josiah Huston. They began a conversation and soon enough begin to form a bond. As Sophia realizes what has happened after being transported back to her world she wonders how after finding a love like Josiah how could they be together. I too wondered, scratching my head of how Ms. Kirk will have them be together and enjoyed how in the end she was able to do so. A lovely touching story of how love can so unexpectedly happen even if its from another era.
I've received an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book took me less than a day to finish as I simply couldn't put it down! This new series about the magic of GraceTown is really special. The first book, The Pink House, ranked in my top favorite reads of 2022; and now this new book, The Love Token is certainly going to be most memorable of 2023! The connections in Life and from the Universe are sometimes unexplainable and baffling, such was the case for Sophie as she experienced something unbelievable. This story shows the reader that there is never random happenstance and that everything - every choice, every conversation, every connection - happens for a reason. Imagine finding a coin that transports you through time to your true love only for it to live in its finality in the hands of said true love to bring you full circle back to a second chance true love. Many great love stories teach us that only one true love can exist. In this beautifully-written, thought-provoking story, that belief is challenged; and Life shows us the 'butterfly effect' in how each event is reliant on its counterpart and connection is intricately woven into the next. If Sophie had never time traveled to fall in love with Josiah, creating an openness for him to love Maybelline, then there's a chance Joe would have never been born, providing Sophie with her lifelong love and happiness. This story invokes hope for the unknown and captured my heart just as The Love Token's mystical influence captured the characters' in this book.

Timeless Love? Is there such a thing? Sophia (Sophie to her closest friends) Jessup, the owner of Timeless Treasures Antique Shop in Grace Town, Maryland, was about to find out for herself. In the early 20th century, the east coast of the United States hosted an event named The Chautauqua which featured readings, music, plays, etc. of current as well as past authors, composers, and playwrights. Grace Town is known for its great community spirit and also some “magical” essence that no other community has shown. Sophie experiences this “magical” property during Grace Town’s own Chautauqua. Dressed in 1916 period attire and possessing the Love Token she found in an estate purchase, Sophie sees a third tent that wasn’t supposed to be there. What’s inside that third tent? She enters the real 1916 Grace Town... and meets her true love, Josiah Huston. During the next three days, Sophie and Josiah grow closer; however, Sophie is traveling back and forth between times and realizes that a very hard decision needs to be made. Does she stay in her own time and miss out on living a lifetime with her love? Or does she return to 1916 permanently and leave the people she loves in the 21st century behind? This story touched my heart in so many ways! I don’t think I will give away the ending by saying it is a very happy one with a little bit of bittersweetness thrown in. I’m looking forward to the next magical story from Grace Town by Cindy Kirk!!
This is the 2nd in this Gracetown series by the wonderful Cindy Kirk. I really enjoyed this beautifully written story about outer-worldly experiences and love.
This book is primarily about Gracetown’s very own lover of all things antique and history, Miss Sophie Jessup. Sophie is the owner of Timeless Treasures Antique Shop in Gracetown. Sophie is a sweet young lady with a good heart. She romantic at heart and would love to find love.
Sophie has volunteered to help in the two tents set up in the Gracetown fairgrounds where they will be celebrating they 1916 Chautauqua - travelling education and social movements. Prior to leaving her shop to attend the celebration she discovers a love token (dating back to the early 1900’s), in a steamer trunk that she purchased at an estate auction. Sophie is delighted with her find. She puts it in her pocket & leaves to go to the fairground. As she steps out of a tent she notices a third tent. She didn’t notice it before, nor did any of the other organisers mention it. As she steps into the third tent it transports her to 1916. There she finds the man of her dreams! Is it a dream or is she time travelling?
Gracetown really is magical town in every sense of the word. A beautiful story about love, magic & fate. What you believe you receive. Will there be a happy ending? You will have to read this book to find out.
The Love Token is the second book in the GraceTown series. This series is a departure from the author’s regular contemporary romances, as they have a otherworldly aspect to them. Sophia Jessup owns an antique shop and has been an archivist at the local college. While going through a trunk she bought at an estate auction, she finds a coin, from the early 1900’s called a Love Token. She takes it with her when she volunteers for the Chautauqua festival. This is a reenactment of an institution offering popular adult education courses and entertainment, typically held outdoors in the summer in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She is assigned to take care of two of the tents, when she arrives, there is a third tent where she goes in and finds herself in the GraceTown 1916 Chautauqua. There she meets Josiah Huston, a recent widower. This is a a great love story, but what will Sophia choose, her current life, or a once in a lifetime love? I definitely would recommend this series, and this book in particular. I received an arc of this book from the author for my honest review.
The history in this book amazes me. Cindy had to do some major research to bring 1916 to readers. She did a great job. I felt like I was there seeing the Tin Lizzie rolling down the street in Gracetown. Gracetown has always been a magical place but this one took the cake. Sophia Jessup owns an antique shop, Timeless Treasures. After bidding on a chest, Sophie finds a love token and decides to keep it with her while volunteering at the Chautauqua for the weekend. She notices an extra tent and when she walks in she is transported back to 1916 Gracetown. There Sophie meets Josiah Huston. Josiah is a widow not interested in getting into a relationship and having his heart broken again. Something about Sophie makes him comfortable and they spend the afternoon together.
The magic that is Gracetown will have readers on pins and needles to see what will happen. The connection and attraction this couple shares after spending the weekend together will make readers fall in love with this magical, heartwarming story. Love is definitely in the air in Gracetown. Will the magic sustain long enough for Sophie and Josiah to be together? This is definitely worth the read to find out.
The second story based in GraceTown, Maryland finds us during a local festival on which our heroine, Sophie Jessup is a volunteer. In her antique store, she finds a coin in an antique box with the inscription, Love Be Yours, Love Be Mind. As she is holding it at the festival, she is transported back to 1916 where she meets widow Josiah Huston, a local car dealer owner. The two fall in love and Sophie decides that she wants to stay in a simpler, 1916 with Josiah. When she goes back to the festival to be transported, she finds out that the tents are gone and she loses the coin that she knows helps transport her to the earlier time.
She is sad, but when the owner of the antique box comes in, it turns out that he is the great -great- great grandson of Josiah and he is looking for that coin because it meant so much to his great - great - great grandfather.
A great romantic story that had me cheering for Sophie and Josiah and loved the outcome when Sophie ended up with his great- great - great grandson.
Ms. Kirk never disappoints her readers. This story is well written and it is enjoyable to see 1916 v 2023 in the eyes of Sophie in her hometown of GraceTown.
A lovely story of a heroine who longs for true love and is sure she’ll never find it, and a widower who wonders if he could ever open his heart again after losing his true love. Add in the challenge of the two living 100 years apart, a surprising secret portal in the middle of the town’s annual fair, and a chance meeting, you have a recipe for love. In this case, love at first sight for two people who should be meant for each other if it weren’t for the distance of time.
As I read this fascinating and uplifting story, I wondered how Kirk would finally bring these two together in a believable way. The ending was a complete surprise: a solution not anywhere near my radar. A unique happily-ever-after that made total sense.
Kudos to Kirk who kept me entertained and intrigued with simultaneous historical events a century apart, a growing, passionate love, and me rooting for the two characters to find true love. And WOW, what a twist at the end, leading to what we all long for—a happily-ever-after.
This was a hard book to put down, and when I did, I couldn't wait to get back to it to see what would happen next.
Sophie Jessup, owner of Timeless Treasures, is going through a steamer trunk she purchased from an estate sale when she finds a pouch holding what looks like a coin. It was sanded smooth on one side and a saying was inscribed. She researches it and discovers it is called a love token. She is fascinated and keeps it with her.
GraceTown is celebrating Chautauqua Days at the fairground and everyone is encouraged to dress for the period (1916). Sophie has volunteered to help out. Her assignment is to make sure the scheduled speakers are comfortable and have enough water. There are 2 tents set up, but when Sophie puts the token in her pocket suddenly a third tent is there. Sophie goes to check to make sure the speaker is okay and when she exits the tent she travels to the past. At first she is disoriented so she finds a place to sit and a kind stranger, Josiah, offers his assistance. They hit it off and each day of the Chautauqua Sophie travels to the past to spend time with Josiah. Will she stay in the past with Josiah?
I love a good time travel romance, and The Love Token did not disappoint.
Sophie is a business owner with a shop she loves and friends and family she adors. Her boyfriend however...well we all have people in our lives who we keep around for too long, right?
Josiah is one of those sweet, good guys we all hope to find one day. He's progressive in his thinking and lives for those he loves. He's also lost his great love, can Sophie help him move on and find love again?
The problem? She's from today and he's from 1916! This story is super sweet and it's a joy to travel with Sophie as she finds her own self worth and learns what love is. I found Sophie and Josiah's story to be so heartfelt. It was a lovely exploration of being yourself while being in love, but because they are literally not from the same time, there's a little bit of sadness also.
This book is part of the GraceTown series, but each book is standalone. If you like sweet romances, time travel, and finding true love, I think you will enjoy The Love Token.
The Love Token is the second book in the GraceTown series and here we meet Sophia Jessup (Sophie) who owns an antique shop. Sophie finds an old coin in a trunk bought at an estate auction and she realises it's actually a love token. She has it with her when she volunteers for the Chautauqua festival. She is assigned to take care of the two tents, but when she arrives, she notices that there is a third tent.......out of curiosity she enters the third tent and finds herself transported back to GraceTown in 1916. There she meets Josiah Huston, a recent widower, who is taken by this young woman. They are drawn to each other and love blossoms.
The build of the love story is gentle and romantic, but what will Sophia choose? Will she remain in her current life, or stay with Josiah, who she believes is her great love? You will have to read the book to find out!
This series is definitely a little different from Cindy's other series but I would definitely recommend it. I received an arc of this book from the author in return for my honest review.
The Love Token is the second book in the GraceTown series by Cindy Kirk. I loved the first book, The Pink House & knew that I would like this also. When I first started reading The Love Token, it took a little bit for me to get into but once I started, I couldn’t put the book down. The premise of the book is love & time travel but written in a way that makes you want to be in the story. Set in the present day, Sophie finds herself being able to travel back to 1916 through a Love Token that she found as part of a collection she received at her Antiques Shop. In 1916, Sophie meets Josiah & over the course of a few days falls in love with him At the end of the Chautauqua Festival has to make the heart wrenching decision of whether to leave her family & family & friends behind to stay in 1916 or return to the present day. This is a must read if you like fantasy & romance novels. Cindy Kirk has created a world that just makes you want to be a part of. I’m looking forward to see where in GraceTown we’ll visit next.
OMG - Cindy knows how to bring you into the story!!!
OMG – Cindy knows how to bring you into the story! This is about Sophie and Josiah. The story is so great as it brings you back in time, all due to a love token. Time travel and loving someone you just met are wonderful. The reality that hits her is a decision that she must make to stay in the present without the love she just learned to allow herself with or stay in the past and endure all the history one knows about it. Saying goodbye to your family and friend is not easy, especially knowing you will leave everyone behind. Josiah loved once in his life, but that love was taken away by a ruptured appendix; knowing that the modern world medicine of today could have saved her is a little sad, but remembering how many lose their lives over other illnesses because the discovery of antibiotics wasn’t made in time.
Cindy never disappoints with her stories, and the Pink House was excellent, but this one was much better, especially at the end! I loved the love token and its significance.
I received an advanced copy of this book and am reviewing it voluntarily. Great time travel story. Sophia Jessup owns an antique shop called Timeless Treasures. She and her boyfriend Dylan Connors are supposed to volunteer at the Chautauqua dressed in time period clothes, but at the last minute Dylan cancels on her. She begins to wonder if he's the right one for her. Before she leaves for the Chautauqua, Sophie looks through an old steamer trunk she bought at an auction and finds a love token. She puts it in her purse and leaves for the Chautauqua. Sophie's volunteering includes working in two tents where activities are taking place, but when she walks out of the second tent she sees a third and inside everyone is dressed in the time period of 1916. As she leaves she expects to be in present day but is still in 1916. When Josiah Huston sees a young woman in distress sitting on a bench he approaches her to see if she is alright. Little does he know she is from the future. Is she stuck in the past? Will meeting Josiah change her future? Read to find out. Enjoy!
The next book in the series involves time travel, taking the reader back to the early 1900's. I couldn't imagine how this story would be resolved, but I was not disappointed. "Sophie Jessup has a good life. She knows that when it closes, it will close for good, forcing Sophie to make an impossible choice." synopsis copied
The Love Token is the second book in the GraceTown series. This series is a departure from the author’s regular contemporary romance as they contain super natural components, but still hold true to authors exceptional descriptive writing to pull the reader into the story.
This book deals with the concept of Time-Travel, and although not my cup of tea, the author does a good job intertwining 2 worlds, heartache, and the heart-searching. Although not Ms. Kirk's general genre, in true Kirk fashion there is a HEA.... but with a supernatural twist. Even if time-travel is not your interest, as is with me, if you can just "go with the story", I believe you will enjoy the development of characters, emotions, and basic romance story created by Ms. Kirk.
I received an arc of this book from the author for my honest review.
This is the 2nd installment in the Grace Town series. The main character is Sophie. She owns an antique business known as Timeless Treasures. She is successful in business, but her personal life is lacking. While at work, she is going through an old steamer trunk where she finds a love token. With this token, she travels back in time to the year 1916 where she meets Josiah. Josiah owns an auto dealership & lost his wife to illness. Sophie & Josiah quickly develop strong feelings for each other but wonder how their budding relationship can work. Can either risk the life they know to be with the one they love in a different time?
I enjoyed reading this book & loved how the ending turned out. I’m looking forward to the next book. I received an ARC of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it for the author.
In this second installment to the GraceTown series, Ms. Kirk brings to us the story of Sophie and Josiah. This series incorporates a little bit of magic and science fiction and The Love Token shares in that with some unexpected time travel. Is it possible to pass through time and find your soul mate in just a matter of a few days? Or is that experience just setting up what should happen, what will happen in Sophie's true time? I appreciated Sophie's best friend not shunning her when she shared her time travel revelation, and instead supported her. I half expected Sophie's parents to have her carted off to the hospital, ruining her chances of finding love. This story kept me intrigued and rooting for the main characters to find their happily ever after, without the concept of time getting in the way. Even if you don't think you typically like stories that include a bit of the unreal, this story will keep you turning pages long into the wee hours of the morning.
This is the second book in the Gracetown series. It seems like this is a “magical” town. This particular story introduces is to Sophie , and Josiah, then eventually Joe. Sophia owns an antiques shop and obtains a chest from an auction. While going through the contents of the trunk, she finds a love token. This eventually leads to time travel. She ends up traveling back to 1916 where she meets Josiah. She goeas back a few times and spends time with him. He shows her what true love islike. She thinks she may go back and stay with him, but an unfortunate incident keeps her in present time and she loses the ability to travel back. She does meet a current day descendant of Josiah and falls in love.
I don’t typically search out books with time travel, but I do find it to be an interesting concept. This was a nice story and a sweet story about finding true love.
This heartwarming tale of a love for the ages is a story of time travel between contemporary life and 1916. It is not the details that give the charm to the novel but rather the skill of the author. Told from a 3rd person POV, it is of a woman who goes back in time, finds her love, and must choose to remain in her present or return to live in the past. Kirk relates the events with both sympathy and a strong nostalgia, imbuing a yearning to all events in the past. As the conclusion is the most heartfelt scene of the book, I will not ruin it by giving further details. Suffice it to say that if you like highly emotional stories, this one will satisfy your needs. Great read!
