A slow-building, sweet, beautiful love story with a deeper message set against the backdrop of a road trip.

Given how much I absolutely adored Back to You, I knew that Priscilla Glenn was capable of strong, fluid writing that would draw me into the story. And by the end of the first page I was just smiling to myself because I could already feel this was another winner.

The flow of this one was very different than a lot of books I’d been reading recently. It was slow building, but totally drew me into the story. It was actually almost relaxing and yet totally engaging.

Andie’s life was straight-laced, perfectly planned and under control. She had a perfect, predictable boyfriend, a career and a life path. But from the moment Andie met Chase, he her life out of whack. He was impulsive, spontaneous and lived life in the moment – the complete opposite of her. And despite his charm, everything about him just got under her skin. So, when an impromptu road trip forces them to spend 2 days together, everything changes.

“It was harmless, his playful taunting. He had no intention of making a move on Andie, but still, in the back of his mind, he knew he shouldn’t be needing her. Yet as he slid into the passenger seat next to her, he also knew it was going to difficult to stop.”

“This would be impossible, he realized, trying to keep this drive amiable. She got fired up too easily, and, if he were being honest, he enjoyed the reaction too much. It was a bad combination.”

Their banter was just hilarious. It wasn’t even banter really at first because they genuinely just annoyed the hell out of each other. Chase just couldn’t resist teasing her and nearly everything he said made Andie’s defenses go up — much to his initial glee.

“Are you going to put your shirt back on?” She blurted out.
Chase froze, looking over his shoulder at her with the most maddening smile. “Why? Is this bothering you?”
“I just… I mean, what if we get pulled over or something?”
“If we get pulled over, this could only work in your favor,” he said, running his hand over his chest.
Andie tried to stifle a laugh. “My God, your insufferable.”

But the more they got to know each other, the more they got to what was under the surface, and the more open they got with each other. Walls came down and hearts opened up.

This book perfectly captured that special road trip feeling. I loved their conversations – it was true “car talk”. About anything, everything, random musings, little anecdotes and stories… and all the while they slowly fell into a better place with each other and, even though they didn’t realize it at the time, they fell in love.

I have so many pages of their dialogue highlighted. Their conversations were like little mini stories within the larger one of the book as a whole and I totally relaxed into the read with a smile on my face.

And the more I read, I found myself dreading the end of the road trip. I loved the little world they’d created. There’s something magical about road trips, you know? Just being away from everything else, away from relationship, commitments, responsabilities… it’s like an in-between sort of place full of potential. And, if you let it, the experience can be just so liberating.

But, like all good things, the road trip does eventually come to an end and Andie and Chase have to decide what to do with this feeling, this connection that has grown between them.

Now, although technically Andie has a boyfriend for part of the book, I still wouldn’t really specifically call this a love triangle book. First, there is no cheating, and second, there was never even a shadow of a doubt who the ‘right’ guy was. And it was just a question of the characters getting to a point where they realized that in order to be truly happy in life, they had to follow their hearts.

“He took a step forward, composing himself, his voice softer but his eyes significantly more intense. “Why do you hide? Why can’t you just be brave and do what you want instead of what you think you’re supposed to do?”
…”Chase, I can’t live the way you do.”
…”Have you ever even tried?” he asked softly.“

I have to say that I really went through Andie’s journey with her and that moment when she finally became ‘free’, I swear I felt it like a rush and could not stop grinning.

For those of you looking for a break from the more angsty, darker books and just want a sweet, quiet book that you can relax into, you should definitely consider this one. And please don’t think that just because it was ‘quieter’ that it was boring. Far from it! I loved Chase and Andie’s story. I cared about it and felt for it. And the overall feeling I got from reading this book was one of going away on vacation – you’re relaxed, surrounded by the things you love, enjoying your time, and yet, at peace.

This book has many wonderful messages – to not judge someone before knowing their whole story, finding the strength to believe in yourself and your dreams, and most importantly to live life to fullest and to always follow your heart.

This is a stand alone with a happy, resolved ending :)

I loved Back to You and I loved this book. I can’t wait for more from Priscilla Glenn!

What a wonderful story!!

Seriously. Where do I even start? Hmmm. Andie would tell me to be logical and start at the beginning. Chase? Well, Chase would likely react to Andie's logic with something very similar to one of my favorite quotes from the story, "You know something, Andie? If we could find some coal for you to sit on, we could both retire early.". Given that Andie and I have (sigh) a few traits in common...we'll be starting at the beginning ;-)

Andie Weber is a lover of structure and careful caution. She has a nice apartment, a reliable job and a stable, sweet boyfriend, Colin. It's a good life, if a bit bland and colorless. But, given an incident from her past, she's determined that 'safe' and 'smart' are the keywords for any and all life decisions. If only she didn't have to deal with her boyfriend's best friend, Chase McGuire! Chase is the polar opposite of Andie, and he lives his life with a complete lack of structure, routine or apology. He's witty, sardonic and slightly abrasive. They have a lot of preconceived notions about each other, and none of them are good. When they are manipulated into spending two days together in a car, the dread is palpable. Oddly enough, though, despite a rough start, the vastness of the open road begins to work a miracle and the two find that there is more to one another than they thought. There are lessons to be learned that will extend far beyond the confines of a forced road trip. Lessons about tempering caution with courage. Lessons about taking chances and finding lasting happiness. Lessons about love.


Now, then. Let's get down to it. You know, I could tell you how much I love the characters of Andie and Chase, and even Colin. I could tell you that I can identify with Andie's sense of caution, desire for safety and her (to me) endearingly anal-retentive qualities. I could tell you that I find Chase *incredibly* funny, sexy and real. I could tell you that some of my favorite moments in this book are relatively quiet conversations. I could tell you that Andie and Chase have an attraction and pull to one another which you can surely feel. I could even tell you that, together, Andie and Chase find a kind of imperfect perfection that makes me want that for myself. But, it's more than that. What I love so much about this story (about each of Priscilla Glenn's stories) is that there's that extra *something*. Without question, Emancipating Andie is a reader's dream with relatable characters, great chemistry, fantastic dialogue and honest character growth. That combination alone is more than enough to make you LOVE this book! Yet, even so, Priscilla Glenn gives us that undefinable something more.

This is where words fail me. I just...I wish I could find *the perfect words* to describe what makes this author's writing different, what makes it leap out at me and come alive in a quiet and confident way, what it is that makes my heart beat faster and my reactions more intense. It is agonizingly frustrating to love and admire a writer's talent and ability so much and NOT be able to find the words to adequately express *why*! I have this problem with, maybe, a handful of authors, and she's one of them. In the end, I do my very best, but I never feel completely satisfied with what I have. I still feel as if I leave people wondering about the true cause of my effusiveness and enthusiasm.

Honestly, though, maybe, in a way, the cause is very simple. Maybe I've been trying to make it too complex. So, here's my theory. Words *mean* something. One word on its own or a bunch of words strung together...either way, there is meaning. That's language. That's simple fact. However, two people can use the same words and have very different impacts. It's a matter of the skill with which the words are chosen and blended, the intent behind them, and the 'voice' which brings them to life. This author uses her words flawlessly. Flawlessly. Her intent is not to shock or pummel. Her intent is to evoke real emotion, honest feelings. And her 'voice'? What can I say? Priscilla Glenn's 'voice' is a little bit of magic for me.

Emancipating Andie has undeniably made it to my favorites shelf! If I have somehow managed to leave you in any doubt as to my feelings about this story, doubt no more :-) I <3 Every. Single. Moment. There is not one thing I would change. Truly, all I can do is shake my head in awe and respect and wait eagerly for Priscilla Glenn's next book!!

A sweet and beautiful story about living life to the fullest, and never settling for less than what you want. And most importantly- to always follow your heart.


After one mistake, Andie has spent her life living cautiously. She has always followed her mother’s advice.

Love with your head and you’ll be safe. You love with anything else, you’ll find yourself in big trouble.

Andie is a control freak, she always follows the rules. She dreams of being a writer, but she is just working at her family’s restaurant. Andie’s boyfriend Colin is sweet, responsible and the perfect guy for her, in her head of course. But Andie meet’s Colin’s friend Chase, and he changes her whole world in just two days.


Chase is more of a free spirit. He is a photographer. He is fun, spontaneous, and he lives life for himself, and to the fullest.

‘I do what I want to do. I refuse to hold back what I’m thinking or what I’m feeling anymore. And if someone doesn’t like it, then they don’t need to be in my life. If that makes me an asshole, then so be it. I don’t want to spend any more time trying to make other people happy. Life is much more enjoyable when you’re surrounded by people who just accept you for who you are.’

Chase and Andie are opposites in many ways. After driving each other crazy, picking at each other, and going back and forth with some funny banter, they develop an connection.



They learned so much about themselves and one another on this trip. I didn’t want this part of the book to end. But they eventually reach their destination. Andie is with Colin, but she can’t keep her mind off Chase. As much as she cares for Colin, she doesn’t love him. Not like she should. One thing I LOVED about this book, is even though there was technically a love triangle, the angst was to a minimum, and there was NO cheating! Hallelujah!

Andie realizes even if it’s not meant to be with Chase, he has changed her. She can’t go back to living the life she was living before she met him. She has to live her dreams, and she wants to be with someone she can’t live without, not someone that is just convenient.



This story was sweet, fun, and I loved the characters. Priscilla Glenn’s writing was excellent. We got both Andie and Chase’s pov<3. The ending made me happy. A really enjoyable read with a fantastic message!

If you had a chance to love with your head or love with your heart, which would you choose? That's the decision that Andie is faced with. Her whole life with one exception, has been about order...thinking calmly, keeping everything in its place. And one meeting and one road trip blasts that to smithereens...and his name is Chase.



Chase is like nothing Andie ever thought she would want. He says what he wants and does what he wants but as she gets to know him...the real him, she sees into his soul and the goodness there. Plus Chase makes Andie embrace life and happiness. Before she was all about safety but with Chase, she wants to take chances.

The story is a little shaky for a bit because Andie has a boyfriend and that boyfriend isn't some random guy but one of Chase's best friends. They both are walking on thin ice and they both deny, deny, deny their feelings for each other. There is sooo much sexual tension but I loved seeing them bring the best out of each other.

The beginning started off a bit rough and I couldn't imagine why people liked it so much but luckily it quickly smoothed out. Then the wondering if they were going to cheat or not about drove me crazy. On top of that, we had to read about Chase "doing things" to try to get over Andie...ugh. And my heart really went out to Colin, not only at the "big night" but when he went over to Chases.



We do get some steamy scenes with Andie and Chase but it's not very descriptive. The romance though....phewwww, that made it all worth it. I loved how much Chase wanted her...and how much she wanted him. How sweet he was with her, teaching her about things and their first date was wonderful!

I loved the ending...how Andie thought she was being sooo sneaky but how Chase knew, well knew some of it. It ends well, aka no cliffhanger, but I could definitely see another book, continuing their adventure. That would be amazing!

I really liked this book. Good solid story where you can really feel you are there with the characters in all that they go through. Have read her other book which was also very good and look forward to reading more from this talented author.

All night long he'd been holding on to the notion that at some point in every guy's life, he's been guilty of looking at a friend's girl and thinking things that were less than appropriate. He could be a good guy, he could be a good friend, but when it came down to it, guys were guys, and shit happens.
The subconscious is an impossible thing to control. A guy wasn't considered an asshole unless he acted on those involuntary thoughts.

“You’ve got some serious control issues,” Chase said, the words out of his mouth before he could think better of them. “Excuse me?” Andie said. “You don’t even know me. So don’t—” “You’re right, I don’t know you,” he said, cutting her off, his own voice rising in spite of himself. “All I know about you is what you’re showing me. And right now, with the way you’re acting? With your rigid driving plan, and your ‘nobody drives but me’ nonsense? What you’re showing me is that you have control issues. Hardcore, grade A, first-rate control issues.” ~Chase

Andie Weber lives her life in a straight line and she has no plans to deviate from it. Everything about her life screams “I love to play it safe” She has high walls carefully placed up to protect herself. These walls assist her need to be in control. These walls guard her heart and keep it safe. These walls contain her safe house. But one road trip with the free-willed and spontaneous Chase McGuire has her walls tumbling down and opening up to the different possibilities that life has to offer outside of her safe house.

“Are you telling me you’ve never done something just for you? For no other reason besides the fact that it was what you wanted? Screw consequences?” ~Chase

A road trip with a pretty girl you are attracted to isn’t so bad right? Well umm, maybe, if said girl has a boyfriend annnnd said boyfriend is your friend. Yup, that could pose a problem.
Chase does not necessarily fight his attraction to Andie.. He knows she is off limits because of who she is; the girlfriend of his friend Colin. That alone should be enough to hold him off yet the attraction builds the more he get’s to know her with every mile gained towards their destination.

“I’m ready to face my consequences, Andie. I just want you to be sure,” he whispered, his bottom lip grazing her top one. “I want you to think about what you’d be giving up.” ~Chase to Andie

Andie decides playing it safe is no longer the route she wants to travel. She also decides that Colin may not be the person she chooses as her traveling companion. Can carefree Chase be the one for her? Or does his appeal to her solely lie in his spontaneity?

My Thoughts
The love story has a slow build, way slower than what I am use to. And the steam in this book was on a
light simmer but I loved it all the same. I have to admit that although the steam was not my usual there was this one seen were he says

“One day I’m gonna take you up here.” Andie turned her head slightly to look at him. “Aren’t we already up here?” Chase shook his head. “One day I’m gonna take you up here,” he said, running his hands down over her hips as he pulled her body back against his. Andie groaned softly as her eyes fluttered closed. “Then do it,” she whispered, turning in his arms and wrapping hers around his neck. “Take me.”



So G O O D! The writing is good and the story has a realistic feel to it. If you enjoy romance I highly recommend that you READ IT!

If my hands could be someone else’s hands, I think I’d want those hands to be Priscilla Glenn’s. She writes in a way that flows so effortlessly it’s almost like she’s breathing the words. She inhales, then exhales a book.

I’m going to play the honesty card right now and admit that after reading Emancipating Andie, I was a little indifferent. My head was still wrapped all over Back to You...all over. I was expecting it and I got that. My expectations were clouding my judgment. Shame on me! Do we really want authors to reincarnate the same books over and over again? What’s so wrong with different?

This is the book you need when you’re tired of being the cliffhanger’s bitch. The book you need when you want a break from the ones that Temple of Doom your heart, rip it out, and play hacky sack with it, putting it back a little darker than it was before. A book that doesn’t push your limits. Don’t get me wrong, I love all those things, but sometimes I need...I need...I need something else. This is something else.

People are always coming to me after reading books like Captive in the Dark, The Fault in Our Stars, or Taking Chances wanting to read something good, but at the same time needing a break from being emotionally fucked. I think Emancipating Andie is that perfect break.

It is a slow building, painfully well-written story full of passion and great characters. At first I thought it was a little slow, but I realized that sometimes it’s good to slow things down. Sometimes a pinch of this and a dash of that makes some damn good cookies. This was a damn good cookie.

I fell in love with Chase! He had the asshole gene that makes your racing heart drop right between your legs. His and Andie’s story was slow and sweet, hard and soft. It had its share of drama, but just enough to keep the pace. The book does contain a pseudo love triangle, but not in the way you think. I hate to be triangled but after EA, Priscilla Glenn has earned the right to triangle me anytime!!

Don’t go into this book thinking you’re going to read another Back to You. You will cheat yourself out of enjoying a really good book. A book you need to read when you want the perfect romance that won’t leave you hanging.

Andie Weber has been following her mother’s advice when it comes to life and relationships since a terrifying incident happened in her teens. Keeping herself safe, her life in order has kept her comfortable until the day she meets…Chase McGuire.

”Love with your head, and you’ll be safe.”

Andie works as a restaurant manager for her family’s business, but longs to be a writer. She is dating Collin who is a very stable, kind and caring boyfriend. While attending an engagement party for friends of Collin’s she meets Chase. Chase is a childhood friend of Collin’s and he irks her beyond reason. There are some sparks but truthfully his teasing and his boldness makes her angry and uncomfortable. Chase pushes her buttons and shakes her to her core.

Fast forward a year and half later and we find Andie content with her relationship with Collin and preparing for her car trip to Florida to meet up with Collin for the wedding. Andie finds out that Collin has offered Chase the passenger seat in Andie’s road trip to Florida.

This book is told with the perspective of both Andie and Chase. Conversations between Andie and Chase were deep, very funny and their connection while slow building was completely realistic.

Andie and Chase get to know each along this road trip and Andie starts to see life and Chase very differently by the time the two arrive at the wedding festivities.

”You look new right now,” he finally said.
“New?”
He nodded. “Like you just discovered yourself.”
Andie felt something jolt through her veins as he added, “It’s hard to explain, but I wish you could see it. It looks good on you.”

Andie returns home completely inspired by Chase. They both are drawn to each other but this book doesn’t have cheating in the physical sense. Both Andie and Chase struggle with their feelings for one another as well as their feelings for Collin. In the end, all is how it should be, even for Collin.

I found this story to be well paced and told perfectly. The angst was high, the banter fun and the story over all well done.

Ever since I read Priscilla Glenn’s story Back to You, I’ve been craving to read more from this author. I’m beyond intrigued with her writing style. I was never worried that her next book wouldn’t live up the greatness that is Back to You. I had faith in Miz Glenn. Not only did Emancipating Andie live up to my expectations, but it had me loving every single laugh, smile, and heart-clenching moment. I loved this book made of awesome sauce covered in sprinkles.

We judge people by our own standards of happiness… What makes you happy might not make that woman over there happy. But human beings have a terrible habit of thinking they know what’s best for each other.

Andie Weber learned a long time ago that being carefree can only get you into trouble. Ever since an incident from her past, she’s been determined to live her life smart and safe and well-structured. She has the perfect boyfriend, a good home, and a respectable job. Andie has it so incredibly together and yet her life is so incredibly bland. Spontaneity is not a word in her vocabulary. And then she meets Chase McGuire, her polar opposite. He’s spontaneous, carefree, witty, and sarcastic. He lives his life as a traveling photographer without any kind of structure. He refuses to relent to what other people expect of him. He’s straight forward, abrasive, and makes no apologies for who he is. Andie can’t stand him.

The moment they met a year and a half ago, Andie judged him right off the bat as a loser, someone she would rather not have anything to do with. So, when Andie’s boyfriend decides to fly to Florida early for a friend’s wedding, he asks his best friend, Chase, to ride down with Andie. Knowing she’s going to be stuck in the car with Chase for two days made Andie uncomfortable and irritable. Personality wise, they are nothing alike and it shows with the snarky tension between them when they first get on the road. But eventually, as the miles are traveled and they get to know one another, the tension and stress of being together slowly dissipates. Andie’s itinerary is thrown out the window as the road trip turns into flirty banter...

“Are you gonna put your shirt back on?” she blurted out.

Chase froze, looking over his shoulder at her with the most maddening smile. “Why? Is this bothering you?”

“I just…” Andie sputtered, floundering through her response. “I mean, what if we get pulled over or something?”

“If we get pulled over, this could only work in your favor,” he said, running his hands over his chest.

...laughter, smiles, impulsive fun, and simply enjoying life. Chase opens Andie’s eyes to a new world. He helps her shed her skin and be free. But when the road trip comes to an end, what happens between Andie and Chase is another journey they must take.

I was genuinely sad when the road trip ended. But it wasn’t the end to these characters journey. Andie continues to struggle to uncover who she is and what she wants from life and love. Her confusion and frustration with thinking with her head and feeling with her heart was vividly depicted. She’s ready to pursue a life of writing and liberate herself from her well-constructed life. But, even though she’s happier than she’s been in a long time, there is still something or someone missing from her life. She can’t stop thinking about the man that brought her pure unadulterated happiness in just two short days. The feelings she developed for him have invaded her heart and soul. And now it’s up to her to figure out if the relationship between her and Colin should continue. Or should she go after what her heart truly desires.

“I’m gonna fall in love with you.”

Chase is a fantastic hero. He’s incredibly sexy and funny. I loved his use of sarcasm and witty remarks. The way he struggled with being a good friend by staying away from Andie, the one girl who could bring him to his knees, simply moved me. The thought of her makes him happy and sad all at once. She’s the girl of his dreams, but he couldn’t have her. My heart went out to Chase as his pain and frustration came to the forefront. He fell for his best friend’s girl and he is determined to remain loyal to Colin. The last thing he wants is to take away his friend’s happiness and for Andie to regret being with him.

His heart was racing, and he wanted her to hear it. And he wanted her to know that from here on out, it beat solely for her.

The connection between Andie and Chase is unquestionable, yet the question as to whether they should pursue the feelings they have towards one another continuously hangs in the air. As the story progresses, they both find it harder and harder to stay away from each other. They are drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. There is absolutely no cheating, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a lot of heartache and pain that goes along with such a complicated situation.

My favorite part is how Miz Glenn builds the story slowly. She gave me time to see the characters change and grow, find themselves, and, yes, eventually fall in love. There is nothing like a great friends-turn-lovers story that will melt your heart into mush. The writing style flows beautifully and I found it difficult to put the book down. This isn’t an overly steamy book, but there is an emotional connection, incredible chemistry, and genuine intimacy. The little touches and secret glances made the butterflies in my belly flutter.

There is a quiet scene with a piano, and a beautiful song I love, that made my insides all warm and gooey. Andie and Chase both realize at this point there is no going back, no matter how hard they fight their attraction towards each other, they will never be the same again. The way Glenn wrote this scene, I could feel how hard these two fought to control their desire for each other. I could feel their need and their want. It was so vivid and so intense.

This story has a powerful message behind it… follow your dreams, believe in yourself, and do what makes YOU happy. I really enjoyed following along Andie’s journey of self-discovery. But this wasn’t just Andie’s journey, this was Chase’s as well. In each other, they find courage, happiness, confidence, and unexpected love. This is truly one of those stories that just needs to be read. Emancipating Andie mesmerized me and left me with a blissfully happy ending.

I absolutely fell in love with Priscilla Glenn’s debut novel, Back to You, last year, and have been waiting oh-so-impatiently for this book to be released, and I was not disappointed. Chock-full of epic quotes - which I could not help but share ;) - I loved it!

It’s the story of Andie – analytical and uptight, she lives a very ordered and “safe” life. This is thrown into turmoil when her “safe” boyfriend of a year and a half organises for her to drive with his friend, Chase from New York to Florida to attend a wedding. Having met Chase once over a year ago, she took an instant dislike to him, so the idea of a two day road trip fills her with dread.

Chase is sensational! Carefree, spontaneous and funny, he is who he is, and he makes no apologies for that.

“I do what I want to do. I refuse to hold back what I’m thinking or what I’m feeling anymore. And if someone doesn’t like it, then they don’t need to be in my life. If that makes me an asshole, then so be it. I don’t want to spend any more time trying to make other people happy. Life is much more enjoyable when you’re surrounded by people who just accept you for you.”

The fun begins when the two of them begin their journey. With Andie being totally antagonistic towards Chase, and with his carefree nature and quick wit, the banter is sensational!

“Are you gonna put your shirt back on?” she blurted out.
Chase froze, looking over his shoulder at her with the most maddening smile. “Why? Is this bothering you?”
“I just…” Andie sputtered, floundering through her response. “I mean, what if we get pulled over or something?”
“If we get pulled over, this could only work in your favour,” he said, running his hands over his chest.

As they get to know each other, Andie’s anger towards Chase melts, and the dialogue between them is brilliant! It’s total road trip conversation – from the ridiculous (chocolate covered bacon and the appropriateness of ‘Destiny’ as a baby’s name as opposed to a stripper name) to the profound (sort of)…

“Everything happens for a reason,” she finally said.
“What?” Chase scoffed as his eyes flashed back to hers. “Oh you’ve got to be kidding me.”
��Why?”
“Because it’s total horseshit,” he laughed. “That’s just some crap people say when something bad happens and they have no way to explain it. It’s a pathetic way to try and make somebody feel better. And if anything, it has the reverse effect.”
Andie shrugged. “I disagree.”
“Anytime anyone has ever said that to me, it just made me want to punch them in the face.”
“That’s because you’re an asshole,” she said matter-of factly.

Unbeknownst to Andie, Chase has had a crush on her since they first met. While he does his best to stay distant, he watches her, and sees the real her, and he’s not afraid to tell it like it is.

“You know something Andie? If we could find some coal for you to sit on, we could both retire early.”

But he can also see beyond that to the person that she wants to be. Andie is trapped in her life, following a horrific experience as a teenager, she is scared to break free of the carefully planned life that she has created for herself. As soon as Chase realises this, he does his best to encourage her to be spontaneous, to life her life the way she wants, and to do what makes her happy. He encourages her to be free, he tries to give her the confidence to be who she wants to be and live the life she’s dreamed off, without fear or restriction.

“Don’t ever apologize for being you, Andie.” She opened her eyes and turned to him. He was looking at her, and there was such conviction and sincerity in his expression that Andie felt like she was going to break under the weight of it.

I’ve got to say, these scenes are absolutely amazing! Glenn’s writing is so beautifully descriptive, it reaches out and pulls you in so you feel like you’re there in the moment – and I totally wanted to be there in the moment, it was so beautiful! And I felt it right along with Andie as she started to feel “unbound”.

“You look like new right now … Like you’ve just discovered yourself … It’s hard to explain, but I wish you could see it. It looks good on you.”

Through all of this, there is a strong romantic element building, as Chase’s feelings for Andie intensify, and she starts to feel things for Chase that rock her world. I really felt the chemistry between them, and the build up of the UST is phenomenal. But Chase is a gentleman, and Andie still has a long road to go on her journey of self-discovery. There is a bit of a rocky road for the two of them, but it’s all very realistic – there is no stupid, and not once did I get frustrated by anything that either of them did. It all plays out perfectly.

I fell in love with both Andie and Chase, and as we get both of their POVs, and learn more about their pasts, we see some fantastic character development going on as the story unfolds. The romance is gorgeous, with a bit of steamy stuff, but the focus is definitely on the emotion.

“His heart was racing, and he wanted her to hear it. And he wanted her to know that from here on out, it beat solely for her.”

This is a wonderfully written book with drama, humour, romance and some wonderful insights. With a beautifully resolved, happy ending, I absolutely loved it.

4.5 stars.

Plus, book that includes life advice from Dr Seuss, is a winner in my view :)

Ok....I feel bad. Everyone else seems to love this book...even so much as comparing it to "Back to You"....and I can't help but think that this book was just mediocre, while "Back to You" was one of my favorite books.

This book kinda let me down. I was SO excited to start it because come on...A woman falling in love with her boyfriend's friend? There is usually a lot of angst and intensity in books like this, so I prepared myself to enjoy a roller-coaster of emotions. But it never came. I never felt the butterflies while she was falling in love with Chase. I didn't feel any intensity or angst that their relationship warranted. I was just like...yeah, Chase is a nice guy. I can see why she likes him. But I never actually fell in love with the guy. Every thing was so "easy-peasy" with them. It was like, she met him, thought he was an asshole...a year and a half later, she takes a rode trip with them and realizes he's a nice guy. That's it. No real depth to it. I mean, yeah, he makes her realize what she wants out of life, but I never actually "felt" their connection. The conflict was "a given", and I felt like there really wasn't anything special about this book. I was really let down because "Back to you" had that special trait that made it brilliant, being unique and heart-wrenching, being so connected with the characters that you feel like you're experiencing what they're experiencing. This book lacked that.

Do I say it? Yes, I think I will...I was bored. Yup, totally bored. The writing was good, and there were no "cheesy" moments or eye-rolling moments, so that's a definite plus. Priscilla Glenn is a terrific writer, but this story was too generic for me to enjoy.

So, I rate this book 2.5 stars.

This was my first Priscilla Glenn book and I have to say I loved it. Between the characters, writing and plot, I felt captivated. I started and finished the book in less than six hours. From the first word to the last, I was engaged and in love with Chase and Andie. The way their relationship developed was slow and gradual keeping you turning the pages eagerly. This is a slow building romance. It wasn't love or even lust at first sight. There's no instant pay off or crazy sex. It's just beautiful writing, a good plot line and characters with heart. It's a sweet, intoxicating love story that will have you smiling and swooning.

Andie lives her life making safe choices. Choices she knows are going to bring good consequences. She's dating a great guy named Colin and working for her father's restaurant. She's comfortable and happy with the direction her life is going, until she meets Colin's friend Chase.

Chase has had it slightly rough. His fathers an arrogant ass and his mother has past away. He feels he needs to live his life for himself. Knowing he has no one to rely on for his happiness. He doesn’t think about consequences or others and just lives to be happy and fulfilled.

Colin and Andie have a wedding they need to attend. While Colin is flying down, Andie has decided to drive. Colin's not too happy about this and insists that Andie not make the drive alone. It just so happens that Chase is in town and needs to be at the wedding to, so Colin suggests that Andie and Chase drive down together.

The problem with that is Andie can't stand Chase. He seems to push all her buttons and likes to get a rise out of her. Knowing she can’t turn Colin’s suggestion down without sounding like a petulant brat, Andie obliges and agrees to having Chase accompany her. On the trip down to Florida things for Andie and Chase start to slowly change. Chase shows Andie that there's more to life than living by the book. He teaches her to embrace the fun, wild side of things, something that Andie has a hard time doing. Over the two day trip a bond is forged. One that leads to more than either expected. It's rocky but amazing, showing you that true happiness can come when you're least expecting it. But like anything in life decisions are hard and Andie and Chase have more than themselves to think about. They have Colin who is Chase’s best friend. Someone that Chase admires and loves and Andie is in a serious relationship with. It gets angsty and gut wrenching but how can you deny a pull to another person who's made just for you.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was sweet and heartwarming and kept a smile plastered on my face. Chase and Andie have an amazing relationship, one that draws the good out of each other. I’m an emotional reader and this book definitely hit every emotional button in me. I was so entranced by the words she had put down on paper for us to read. I loved the way Ms. Glenn pulled the reader in slowly, the pacing in which her characters developed. It was beautiful. I honestly can’t think of one bad thing to say. I loved it all and can’t wait to read more from her. This was a 5 star read for me.

Glenn's second novel, EMANCIPATING ANDIE, rocked my socks off. There are a very small number of authors I'll drop everything to read their book. Priscilla Glenn is 100% one of those authors. I love her, I love her, I love her. This was one of the books I stayed awake all night to finish AND got out of bed to immediately write the review. I can only think of a couple of other times I've done this, so those of you that don't know my reading/reviewing habits, this is huge.


First, I want to thank Glenn from the bottom of my heart for creating the character Chase. I laughed so much at his banter! I fell in love with the story in chapter 2 where the road trip begins and his sarcastic wit started to roll. I loved his humor and personality. He's one of my favorite male characters now. Not only sexy and witty, but just everything about him I adore. He's loyal, honest, has a conscious, and once we start to learn about his family, his past, how he deals with situations...I'd fall in love with him too. For me, Glenn sold me on Chase through his dialogue, his reactions, his stories, and I didn't need to know his sexual prowess in every chapter to be hooked in this romance.


Andie. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about her at first. She is quite uptight and when Chase basically calls her out on this, insinuating if they could put coal under her she could create diamonds, I grinned like the Cheshire cat. Things I thought were funny that Chase says, Andie sees as rude and doesn't understand his humor. But as time goes on, we really do see how Chase helps emancipates Andie from herself. I think part of my discomfort with Andie at first is that I could see myself from 7 years ago in this character. I had my own Emancipating Julie. :) As the story progresses, I really 'get' Andie's internal conflict, discovering what was real, good for her not good by someone else's standard and what others expected. Glenn offers some great life epiphanies through these characters which made it all the more enjoyable for me.

I recently came a across a comment that someone was worried about reading this due to the love triangle with Chase and Colin being best friends. I thought, "Love triangle? Wha...Ohhhhh." From the description it does sound like a love triangle. Let me be clear, this is not a traditional love triangle of being torn between two soul mates or whatever. Make no mistake, this is Andie and Chase's story. Not Andie, Chase, and Colin's story. Colin is more of a secondary character. The chapters are told from alternating POVs between Andie and Chase, progressing the story along, not rehashing what one already had led us through. I didn't even mention Colin in my first review (this has been added since my original posting) because he really isn't the focus in this love story. Who knows, maybe Colin will get his own story one day. Lord knows he could use some emancipating too. :)


This is a true love story. There is some steam, but as a whole, this is a fantastic love story that just wraps you up in these people's lives, rooting for the characters to find a happily ever after. Glenn has a way of writing romance with lots of sexual tension without needing to be graphic or have play by plays. She nails character chemistry in my opinion.


The best word to describe my feelings while reading this book is anticipation. I kept trying to call it Anticipating Andie to some reader friends too before I ever started the book. :) I felt like I was going through a new crush and love myself. I knew there were going to be obstacle and I found myself anticipating them happening to see if Chase and Andie were going to make it. This is one of the best adult contemporary romance novels I've read in a while that has its own feel and flavor. Sweet. Glenn can write sweet romance without being sappy.

I highly recommend this book to any and all contemporary romance fans.

FINALLY. Finally I am out of my book funk. This was just what I needed. Thank YOU Priscilla Glenn.

Emancipating Andie worried me when I first read the blurb.. I didn't want another typical love triangle book, where the heroine can't decide who she wants to be with so has both. Nuhuh. I had no need to worry, this was not that. This is ultimately Andie's story of finding her true self and going with it. Yes, she has a boyfriend in the beginning, Colin, but he is not where her life should be, and this journey shows her that.

Andie and Chase don't really know each other, but what they do know of each other they can't stand. So when Andie's boyfriend proposes the idea that her and Chase should ride down to their friends wedding together, in Florida, all she can think of is the worst. Two days alone, in a car, with a jackass? Who wants that? Little did she know that those two days would change her life completely.



This is a sweet, beautiful, friends to lovers story. There is absolutely nothing rushed, or fake or unrealistic about Andie and Chase's journey together. The road trip was undoubtedly my favourite part of the book but I constantly found myself dreading the ending, knowing that their story was far from over. What was going to happen when they were both back in their normal surroundings?

If you are looking for something with a realistic love story, that is in no way insta-love then this is absolutely for you. I loved how this book wasn't just about relationships and love. I was so interested in Andie and her story and the whole I was rooting for her to go for what she wanted in life, instead of just settling for what was the safe bet. Chase encouraged her in ways nobody else had, on that road trip he showed her what it was truly like to throw caution to the wind and just live in the moment.

"Don't ever apologize for being you, Andie."

Again, I just have to let you all know that there is no cheating. I know for a lot of people that is their hard limit when it comes to their reads, but there's no need to panic here. Yes there are some wonderful scenes in which Andie and Chase are getting to know each other, purely platonic, 'the piano scene' in particular was one of my favourites. Their love story is just so beautiful to witness and I couldn't wait for the moment when they would finally get together.



Priscilla Glenn is a wonderful writer. She makes it so easy for you to fall for her characters and believe and feel everything that they are. I loved Back To You and now I can add this one to my growing list of favourites. I just couldn't put it down and found that I never even wanted to.

Andie is safe. She is working a safe job, she has a safe relationship with a man who has his head on his shoulders. She is totally uncomfortable with breaking the rules, doing anything spontaneous. She feels choosing her brain over her heart's desire is the smart thing to do.

Chase is so far from safe it isn't funny. He is a risk taker, he does what he pleases, he lives life for himself and no one else. Opposites attract is the name of this game, as Chase teaches Andie how to live and love without holding back. Along the way hard choices have to be made, do you do the "right" thing or the right thing for you.
I really enjoyed this book. We get into the head of two really interesting characters, both with pasts that have made them who they are today. I felt they were relatable, and therefore felt that I was with them every step of the way. I was there through Andie's self discovery, through Chases battle over love and loyalty. Both characters had tough choices to make. Usually I cannot stand a book that has cheating in it, but let me just assure you that although the tension between the couple was there, everything was handled tastefully. Although, I did feel sad for Colin, in the end everything I felt was for the best.

This was really a sweet adventure through self discovery, life and romance. I couldn't put it down once I had started it, the storyline was that addictive. This is the first book I have read by this author, but I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more. Several pleasant hours were spent devouring this one, so check it out.

What a lovely book. A pure, uninterrupted love story! Just what I needed right now.

5 STARS FOR ANDIE & CHASE!



Andie Weber always plays it safe nowadays. She has a safe, but handsome, sweet boyfriend, called Colin. She has a cute, immaculate, safe appartment. She has a steady, secure job as manager of her parents restuarant. And she avoids stepping outside of her comfort zone at all costs. Because the last time she did that, it didn't work out so well for her.
So when she meets Colin's flighty, cocky friend, Chase McGuire, Andie finds herself frequently irritated by his witty remarks and sarcastic, unwelcome banter.
And when Chase and Andie have to take a two day road trip to attend a friend's wedding, with Colin flying ahead to attend to his groomsmen's duties and meeting them there, Andie and Chase both know that it's going to be a tense, awkward couple of days... that is, until the find themselves unexpectedly getting along rather better than they'd bargained for.

Maybe he'd be different. Maybe she'd be different. Maybe they would have a decent time.
Or maybe she'd be stuck in the confines of a car with an obnoxious, caustic, antagonistic moron for two entire days.

Recently I've read quite a few books that have been a bit of a mixture or romance and something else. Either romantic thrillers, romantic action stories, etc. and I've really fancied an out-and-out romance. That is just what I got with Emancipating Andie!



I've read Priscilla Glenn's work before, with Back To You, which I absolutely loved. So as soon as Emancipating Andie was released, I bought it... and it's been sitting patiently on my Kindle ever since. I'm so glad I finally got down to it, and now I can't wait to read Ms. Glenn's other book, Coming Home, too, which I hear is outstanding! Her writing is seamless and allows you to completely immerse yourself in the words on the page.

Emancipating Andie is swoonworthy, well paced and one of those that just pulls you in and gives you little fluttery butterflies in your tummy all the way through. There is nothing to focus on in this book other than 'what will happen with Andie and Chase?' and I totally needed that. To lose myself in a simple, unapologetic love story.

"I'm gonna fall in love with you."

I always enjoy a book where the characters start off being irritated with each other, rubbing each other up the wrong way, and then gradually, gradually, they come around and realise that actually, they do quite like one another. It's always fun to watch that shift in their interactions, see the smiles they try to hide and the feelings blossom. Emancipating Andie was a great example of this. Being shut in a car for two days, together, means there was no room to hide or escape, and the banter between Andie and Chase was great to read. Both characters are intelligent, eloquent, witty and I really loved some of the conversations they shared on their road trip, both trivial and profound.

"How about the guy you bought the pretzel from. That's the last you'll ever see of that guy in your life. That was the sole experience you were meant to have with that man. Your paths will never cross again. And he could be the coolest guy in the world, but you'll never know."

Their relationship has that delicious gradual build. The innocent glances, the stolen touches, the double entendres. Except, obviously there is the additional complication of Colin. Colin is Andie's good-looking, successful, safe, sensible, but very sweet boyfriend. And he is also Chase's long-standing, high-school buddy. So all of these stolen touches, early stomach flutters and building feelings are also completely forbidden. And doesn't that just make it a little bit more exciting?

"If we can't recognize when we've messed up, then how will we know when we've gotten it right?"

I know some people really don't like love-triangles, but personally, as long as I know which guy I'm supposed to be falling in love with, I'm good. And, as sweet as Colin is, you definitely know that Chase is your hero, in this book. I can also confirm that there is no cheating in this book. Although Andie and Chase flirt with the idea of being together whilst she is with Colin, and the sexual tension is totally yummy in some scenes, they do not actually get together until Andie and Colin's relationship ends.

"I want you to go after what you want, but not if it's something that's going to make you feel guilty. Not if it's something that will make you disappointed in yourself."

To me, Colin just represents Andie's comfort zone. Chase pulls her from that and encourages her to expand her horizons, take chances and think with her heart rather than her head. Colin is just one of the 'safe' choices she has been making and one of the things in her life that she has to make a decision about if she is to embrace this new way of living.

"Sometimes things happen, and we don't see them clearly, either because we're not at the right point in our life, or we're too closely involved to understand. But just because we can't see the reason behind things doesn't mean there isn't one."

I loved both Chase and Andie. Andie started off up-tight and snippy, but you could tell that she was going to loosen up as the book went along. And as she began to fall for Chase, and as we got to know more of her back-story, I liked her more and more. And then when she began to take control of her life, make the choices that would change her path and open herself up to the feelings she could no longer deny, I loved her. As sad as some of the decisions were, it was also empowering.

"We're really doing this with no plan? No itinerary?"
"No plan. No itinerary. Just you and me."
"And that's it?" he asked, still amused.
"That's everything."

Chase was perfect from the get-go. He is a typical cocky, loose lipped, happy-go-lucky, loveable guy. He's funny and just can't help but try and get a rise out of Andie. But he isn't mean, he's just cheeky. And then he starts to develop deeper feelings for Andie and it's so adorable. Because he knows the right thing to do, he knows the honorable thing would be to walk away. But he just can't and it's heart breaking. He's a good guy and he doesn't want to hurt anybody, but his love for Andie is overwhelming for him.

"I can't promise you that I'll never be an asshole again. But I can promise you that I don't mean it. And I can't promise you that I won't ever make mistakes, but I can promise you that I'll learn from them and do whatever it takes to make it right with you again."

Like I said, I needed this book right now. It was a light release from the string of heavier material I've read lately. I loved just losing myself, the warmth that came over me throughout Andie and Chase's story, the ease with which I found myself engaging with these characters and the simplicity of the pure romance of this book just filled a void I didn't even realise I needed filled. It just proves to me, I am a romance reader. A romance junkie. And a love story just for the very sake of the love between two people is and always will be my favourite kind.

Wow, wow, WOW! This is one of the books that really deserves more then 5★'s. I just spent my entire day reading, I didn't leave the house or do anything I was supposed to because I could not stop reading. This was real life in its finest. I know, I know, I don't like real life stories but this one wasn't a painful story, this was just a truly real love story. Strangers meeting, connecting, dealing with real life, finding each other, taking chances, all those good things about real life. I was nervous how the "triangle" would be handled but oh my, it was handled beautifully. This wasn't on purpose, this wasn't dishonest, this just happened and sometimes you have to follow your heart and take a chance. What a beautiful book.

3.5 stars, it was a nice easy read. Andie who is a control freak ends up going on a road trip with Chase, her boyfriends friend who is carefree and fun. She then starts to question her life goals and can't stop thinking about him.

Told from a dual POV, it was very predictable but good nonetheless.

I adored this book. Emancipating Andie is a story about self discovery, friendship, loss and love. I’m not a massive fan of love triangles but this one wasn’t overly angsty.

“I didn’t want to be the kind of guy who had no regrets. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust someone who had no regrets. It means that they’ve never learned from their mistakes, or they’re too arrogant to realise they’ve made them in the first place … I think having regrets makes us better people … So…instead of having no regrets, we should know our regrets … Wear them like a bade of lessons learned … If we can’t recognise when we’ve messed up, then how will we know when we’ve gotten it right?”



One of my favorite quotes in this book was by Dr. Seuss that Chase tells - “Be who you are, and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind”.

"She found herself wishing that a camera could immortalize a feeling as well as an image".

Overall it was a sweet, quick and entertaining read with great writing, dialogue and characters. Loved it!

4.5 Beautiful Stars!!!



For poor Andie she was so scared to be free that she created a cocoon around her heart and soul. However, this cocoon was made from one bad choice and choices and beliefs from others.

"Na agapas me to kefali sou, kai that eisai asfalis. Love with your head, and you're be safe."

It wasn't until she is forced to spend time with Chase that she starts to see things in a different light.




"Because we judge people by our own standards of happiness."



"It's still not your fault. But now you know better. You should never ignore your instincts. You don't have to do what other people tell you to do, but you should always do what your heart tells you."

Once Andie starts to open up her heart she start to see differently. With this she has to let go of her past so she can move forward with her future.





Its hard to move forward when we hurt people in the process but sometimes that is the necessary evil for true happiness.





Priscilla Glen has a truly beautiful way with words and her outlook on life. This is the first book that I have read of hers and it will definitely will not be my last as I am now a huge fan of her literary beauty. Bravo!

I’ve been looking forward to reading Emancipating Andie by Priscilla Glenn since I first heard it was going to be released. I loved Glenn’s debut novel Back to You because her writing and characters seem to really resonate with my style. Jumping into Emancipating Andie quickly reminded me how easily I’m hypnotized by this author’s story telling. Shear bliss!

Andie Webber is both smart and extremely cautious. She knows the possible ramifications of letting her guard down and flying by the seat of her pants. The life she’s built for herself revolves around meticulous planning and safe choices. Even down to her job and boyfriend Colin, she’s not one to stray from her well-planned life. That all seems to fall apart when she meets Colin’s long time friend Chase. When circumstances land these two in a short road-trip, they stumble upon feelings and decisions that were never part of Andie’s long term plan. Making choices that are risky and possibly sacrificing the one safe decision she’s made for a chance at a different kind of love becomes a choice that Andie if forced to grapple with and bear the possible consequences.

First and foremost, I have to admit how much I loved Andie and Chase as a couple. They were a perfect example of how truly possible it is for opposites to attract. I commended them for how they handled the situation of Andie being in a committed relationship. They made responsible choices and truly handled those sensitive circumstances with extreme care and thoughtfulness.

The realism of the situation kept me glued to Andie and Chase’s journey throughout the entire novel. I rooted them on and I appreciated the hardships and stumbles they maneuvered through to get to where they ultimately ended. I could have read a dozen more chapters of these two.

With the proper pacing, perfect casting and well-balanced perspective Priscilla Glenn proves once again that she has a great story to tell. Well done!

I like Priscilla Glenn and I enjoyed Back to You so I am surprised Emancipating Andie is currently available in paperback only.

I haven't done research so I don't know if this will come out in eBook format, but I hope so because I usually buy paperback after I've read it on my eReader. Suffice it to say, I only keep my favorites on my book shelf.

What a little gem this one turn out to be. Love Chase and Andie and their playful banter. Though it wasn't all laughter as they are stuck in a love triangle which I felt was dealt with exact how I liked.

Didn't think I could love another Chase since TC but now I do. LOVE Chase!!! Love the writing style!!! I wish I could give it a 5 stars but it was missing an epilogue. But otherwise LOVED IT!!!

I absolutely loved Priscilla Glenn's debut novel, Back to You, so I was thrilled to read Emancipating Andie. Glenn did not disappoint. I LOVED this Emancipating Andie. Since I finished, I have gone back and reread parts parts of this novel numerous times. Clearly, I'm having a hard time letting go of Andie and Chase. Gah! Their story was full of stolen glances, LOTS of tensio,n and sweet chemistry.

The story begins with Andie and her Colin going on a date - their first date. Colin takes Andie to his friends' house for a party. House maybe isn't the right word. It's clear that the house is more like a mansion and that Colin's friends are very, very wealthy. Right after arriving, Colin leaves her alone. What does Andie do? She sneaks around to explore all the rooms, hoping she doesn't get caught snooping. Then the worst thing happens. She gets locked in the wine cellar when the door shuts behind her. She's not alone. Chase McGuire, who we later find out is Colin's friend, is locked up with her. Almost instantaneously, he gets under her skin and not in a good way. In some weird way, he knew exactly how to push her buttons and get her fired up.

Fast forward seventeen months later. Andie and Colin are officially a couple. Andie lives in a neat and tidy apartment and is a creature of order and routine. She has a comfortable life with her boyfriend and an amazing career. Everything in her life is perfectly aligned - just the way she likes it. But her world is about to be tilted on its axis. Colin's friends are getting married in another state. Just one problem - Andie doesn't fly. So, Andie's plan is to drive to the wedding alone, but Colin has another idea. He invites his good friend Chase to be her passenger.
Even Chase notices how immaculate and tidy Andie keeps her apartment. It's almost as if he could feel that it reflected Andie's personality.

"You know what this place needs?" he said, lifting his mug and taking another sip?
She place one of her bags down on the coffee table and began rummaging through it. "No, but I'm sure you're gonna tell me, " she deadpanned,s till not looking at him.
"It needs some life."

Andie is less than thrilled to be stuck in a car with Chase from New York to Florida. Chase, on the other hand, cannot get Andie out of his head. He felt something for the night they were locked in the cellar.

...how quickly those big brown eyes had changed from innocently captivated to utterly fierce. That zero-to-sixty, that fiery tenacity.

Chase wants to stop and sightsee whereas Andie wants to drive straight through. These little disputes continue mile after mile. As the days go by, Chase's easy-going disposition begins to melt Andie's icy exterior. Andie begins to develop feelings towards Chase. He makes her feel things she never felt with Colin - alive, on fire, and new. Her tightly coiled, self-contained emotions are suddenly coming apart. She's coming apart, and she doesn't know what do with her feelings.

I do what I want to do. I refuse to hold back what I'm thinking or what I'm feeling anymore. And if someone doesn't like it, then they dont' need to be in my life. If that makes me an asshole, then so be it. I don't want to spend any more time trying to make other people happy. Life is much more enjoyable when you're surrounded by people who just accept you for you."

Andie thought she had Chase pegged as this carefree photographer with pipe dreams, but she learns that he's not at all who she thought he was. There is depth to Chase and underneath all of his jokes and lightheartedness is a little brokenness. It's that brokenness that Andie can relate to. Andie has a dark past of her own. It's why everything she does and every choice she makes is safe. It's why she never takes risks...until Chase

I loved seeing the change in Andie's feelings towards Chase. There was a shift in the way they regarded one another during the road trip. When Andie and Chase got to Florida, it was clear that neither of them wanted to step out of the bubble they created. Andie didn't want to go back to her reality where she was with Colin, where everything was planned out for her. And Chase didn't want to let her go.

Remember when I said there was tension in this story? Well, Glenn serves up a massive dose of tension in this one. HOLY CROW! The longer Andie and Chase denied their feelings for each other, the more I wanted to reach through my Kindle and give them a good shove. Chase's desire to do good by Colin was admirable, but for me, proud member of Team Chase and Andie (Team Chandie?), I wanted him to throw his respect out the window. I wanted him and Andie to be together. Mostly importantly, I wanted Andie to TAKE A RISK and realize that Colin is not the man for her.

One of my favorite moments of the book is towards the end. There is this scene between Chase and Andie where things between them are way emotionally charged and both of them are a bit brittle. Chase uses Andie's full name for the first time. I JUST ABOUT DIED. That one word turned the whole scene around. He said so much by saying so little to Andie and it made my heart go pitter patter. That is officially a new bookism for me: That moment where the guy calls the girl by her full name for the first time. *melts* Emancipating Andie was such a gorgeous story - one that I will definitely reread again and again.

Priscilla Glen does it again, this was a slow building love story…but it needed to be slow..it was beautifully slow…I loved it!

Andie does everything by the book, she is as straight laced as they come…she had something happen in her past that made her realise that actions have consequences and by not doing what you are supposed to do can have far reaching consequences indeed…so Andie does what she is supposed to do. Her mother always told her “Love with your head and you’ll be safe, you love with anything else, you find yourself in big trouble”…so Andie did safe and she is in a relationship with Colin…he is safe, he has a good job, good prospects etc etc etc…it starts 17 months earlier…Colin takes Andie to an engagement party, his friends house is a huge mansion..Colin leaves to talk to someone and Andie decides to explore…she ends up locked inside a cellar…however, there is already somebody down there…Chase..he is having a crafty cigarette and whilst they are temporarily locked in the cellar together Chase manages to be the biggest asshat that ever lived and just pisses her off…they rub each other up the wrong way severely…Andie does not like Colin’s friend Chase… Colin does not know about this little meeting either as Andie was embarrassed to admit she had been snooping!

17 months later, still in her relationship with Colin, they have been invited to the wedding, Colin has to go early as he is part of the bridal party so Andie is making her own way there..however Andie will not fly so is doing a two day road trip. Colin asks Chase to keep her company as he is worried about her, he agrees…when Colin tells Andie what he has organised leading her to believe that there were no flights available for Chase, Andie is not best pleased, how can she possibly spend 2 days in a confined space with him…it is going to be one lonnnnnggggg drive.

The road trip was brilliant, you totally see a different side to Andie and Chase…Chase weedles his way in and manages to break down some of Andie’s walls…they are both imagining things they shouldn’t be, it is a great piece of writing

“It was harmless, his playful taunting. He had no intention of making a move on Andie, but still, in the back of his mind, he knew he shouldn’t be needing her. Yet, as he slid into the passenger seat next to her, he also knew it would be difficult to stop.”

The conversations these two had were hilarious, in the beginning they absolutely got on each others nerves, they just had the knack of riling each other…the best bit, Andie getting her own back after a particularly testy bit of the drive, she slams the brakes on whilst Chase is drinking and he gets soaked..

C - “What the hell was that”
A - “Payback”
C - “I seriously can’t decide if I‘m more angry or impressed right now”

Chase takes his shirt off and cleans himself up, Andie ogles….

C - “What”
A – “Are you gonna put your shirt back on?”
C – “Why? Is this bothering you?”
A – “I just…..I mean…(sputtering) what if we get pulled over or something?”
C – “If we get pulled over, this could only work in your favour” he said rubbing his hands all over his chest.
A – “My god, you’re insufferable”

The banter between them makes for a fabulous read.

The chemistry between these two is fab, they both realise it is there but will they act on it..Chase does not want to do wrong by his best friend Colin and Andie is tortured between head and heart…can she end it with Colin and give herself to Chase???

This is a cute romance story, hardly any angst, it is not dark but is a smooth read that has you laughing and smiling a lot!! It is a great pick me up read that I adored from start to finish…there are a lot of hidden messages in this book…there is no cheating whatsoever…

I love Priscilla Glen’s writing and can’t wait to read the next book…I am sure I will love it!!

Back to You was one of my favorite reads of 2012 and I cannot praise that book enough. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Priscilla Glenn has quickly become one of my favorite contemporary authors. Her books are filled with emotion and heartbreak in addition to life, love and laughter.


“Life is much more enjoyable when you're surrounded by people who just accept you for you.”


The story. Andie is an adorable MC who happens to be in a serious relationship with a very decent guy. She meets his privileged friends at a house party and gets locked up in a wine cellar with the worst guy she can possibly imagine – Chase McGuire. He infuriates her to her bones. Andie expects to never see him again. Until.. They all attend to a wedding and she has to drive him there. Expect a catastrophe to happen.

My thoughts. You could seriously cut the tension with a knife in this one. Tension in romance, suspense of what’s next to come, the little things that one does not dare to talk about but what occupy one’s mind. It was intense! However, even though the first part was so so so good, it got a little boring for me at some point. The last 20% were fantastic though. Emancipating Andie was full on temptation, butterflies; freedom to breathe, love and live.

As for the characters, I absolutely loved Chase as a love interest. It’s not that I didn’t like Colin, I sure did, but he didn’t push Andie to reach for her dreams nor did he push her to open up about her dreams. When one’s in a relationship, it should be easy to talk about these things, but in this case Andie didn’t dare to speak about her true wishes to Colin. She was embarrassed and that speaks volume. Chase, however, got her to talk and through that they formed a connection deeper than Andie and her boyfriend. The love triangle was inevitable and I liked how there was no cheating in it. We knew it'd get messy with these three, but Andie pulled her big-girl-pants on and did what she had to do in order to make this right – good for her.

I had a tough time with rating this one. I gave Back to You 5 stars since it was one of my favorite books I have ever read. It’s hard to live up to that. Since it didn’t, I can’t give Emancipating Andie 5 stars. Also, the fact that I was a little bored throughout a part of it in the middle, I had to lower the rating another notch. Still, I cannot wait for something else by Priscilla and her writing in general was absolutely marvelous and beautiful. She is definitely an author to explore.
